And though it is appealing to rush to masters, it won't matter much. I don't even play the game seriously that much at the moment, I'm just playing every day to get my sleeves and quests done in AA0. I'm limited in decks, but it doesn't matter how limited I am, because none of my decks are midrange shadow, so they're all equally useless. The meta is just fucked, and I'm forced to keep playing if I want to stay current with my sleeves and gold.

The retardation coming from Cygames's design team reminds me of WotC, who made MTG, and probably has the same strategy that Cygames is following. WotC actually heavily playtests their own cards before release, the problem is the playtesters suck. Like these are playtesters that will be building neutral decks and discard dragon to have fun, instead of trying to actually break the game. If Cygames is trying to emulate WotC, they may very well be using the same playtest strategy.

I think by now it's evident that no one is shitting out a counter to shadow. There is none. No one is trying to counter it, they're either playing it, losing to it, or quitting. The numbers are worse than they were for Daria, and in only half the time.

Thanks, it turns out all I was missing to make the deck was an Eachtar. I put in the wind god, and still have quite a few of those other cards I could try if it doesn't work. Glad I now have a deck that might work instead of Dshift and Daria. Time to reliably win some games.

I can't seem to keep my interest in the game this expansion. I was having a great time in RoB, playing all kinds of fun meme decks, not really caring about my winrate as long as I could do my dailies. I had a semi-workable deck for every leader except Dragon and Shadow. Now, it's like that's all that exists if you EVER want to win.

Besides Pepe, what decks still even survive in the current meta? I'm a total Johnny, I like creative decks and don't mind a low winrate as long as it exists. I love off-meta decks like Conjuring Rune, Eidolon Haven, Pascale Dirt, etc, but Midshadow and Ramp dragon have pounded me into the ground and I don't know where to go.

Current legos pictured. Only ever crafted a gold or two, so I've got some vials. I'd rather not vial anything, but what halfway decent decks am I closest to?

Aggro blood is 5 golds for 3 vania and 2-3 vampire fortress
Cursed storm royal is 1-2 golds. Shadowed is really only there for if you get stalled you can clear and re-cloak. Banner memes is pretty cheap as is aggro royal using fangblades for a closer.
OTK disconewt dragon's 5-6 golds but the 3 breaths are core dragon and the 3 altered fate are core ptp neutralcraft
Aggro forest can drive on 3 gold roaches
Storm haven is 5 golds for 3 garuda and 1 valhallan
Tempo spellboost rune can get by with just 3 Levi's
Budget aggro shadow has 0 golds and tries to close out with cursed soldier+board on t7

Neutralcraft's really just the 2 gold wind gods. The 2 uriel are for spear consistency which is important but you'll live for a week to get the vials for them

I do have quite a few of those that I can play, but I just want to do the best I can. I played Daria and Dshift for about 50 games and barely broke even in wins, and both of those are full netdecked versions that basically lose to shadow unless they brick.

Other than that I can do that cursed storm, budget aggro, or neutral.

you have to keep things in perspective. T1 vs T2 is a single-digit percentage delta, and they hover between 45-55%. you're not going to get a sufficient sample size to tell you what's broken and what isn't unless you bankrupt yourself with testing. given how close cygames likes to fly with ending the game by turn 10, they're actually doing a pretty good job of keeping things relatively near 50%. salt and whining is a chronic issue in every game no matter how balanced it is. in ccgs particularly, most of the perceived balance problems are due to people not having cards to participate in the real meta and getting blown out by decks they can't counter with their specific collection (and what they chose to dust in order to get to whatever tier they're at)

asking top players to playtest is neither here nor there. they don't necessarily build their own decks so lack the innovative capacity to unearth broken potential in new cards, and they usually don't play with all decks so you're still getting sampling bias and the effects of self-reporting, unless you employ hundreds of top players for this purpose which is never going to happen for the same reason they don't have hundreds of testers in the first place, and if you have enough players testing then you've basically released the set anyway

What the fuck were Cygames thinking when printing him? He's a 2/3 neutral ward with an end game board clear and unconditional 10% damage to face. Who though it would be a good idea to overload your neutrals like this? He's so generically good he's run in nearly every deck except the hardest of aggro (which are mostly dead) as a ward and finisher. It's fucking ridiculous how I see this chu2 faggot everywhere.

I can only think of very specific cards being better in very specific situations (ie. novice or blitz). Lower neutrals like Unica and Lyrial, while very strong, at least have counters while others like Uriel have clear weaknesses.

I swear Cygames is trying to turn this shitfest into YGO.

Hearthstone doesn't have anything like enhance so there's no equivalence, but there are many cards that let you choose from multiple base effects on the cards which is a very similar mechanic when it comes to flexibility (like say nourish which lets you choose to ramp twice or draw three cards).

The point to be made is that there isn't a single choice card that exists in shadowverse despite something like enhance being the perfect opportunity to introduce it. Lack of choice puts way too much of an artificial limit on the kinds of plays a player can make in a turn. I'd rather have more options and more depth than have everything streamlined because it's supposed to be "mobile-friendly".

Azazel lists require a 2 card combo minimum (one of which needs to come off a baphomet enhance pull) and can require up to 4 depending on how the game is going. Then there's the issue that if you don't need all 4 cards, you're in vengeance and you're about to die to storm damage. It's not terrible but this deck archtype can't break 50% overall in master.

spell nep deck that's pretty fun to play. gist is to use spells to clear enemy board, get enough shadows for deaths breath on 6, khawy on 7, nep on 8 and grind with mords for the win. mulligan for snipe, zombie party, and soul hunt. use deaths ledger if they dont have too much board, it has a good chance of summoning lurching corpse to clear one. use rise of the dead after nep to summon either mord or nep.

Shadowverse is barely a game. It is more solitaire and involves fewer meaningful decisions that hearthstone because of it's lower health pool and higher card power. Often times the player going first gets to just go face for the whole game, and missing a single on curve drop can mean the game. If your opponent's board isn't cleared every turn you've almost certainly lost, so it forces you into the same plays every time, removing any decision making.

In short, hearthstone is slightly better gameplay wise than shadowverse. They are both bottom tier shit games though.

That's exactly what I'm talking about when I say artificial limit on how you play your cards, you're forced to play cards in a specific order so you don't pay the enhance cost on a spell, but what if that doesn't work out to be the order I want to play my cards in? I have no choice there. I have no idea how you come to the conclusion that having to play around a limit in how you're forced to spend pp on your cards is somehow more depth than being able to freely play cards in any combination you want with the full flexibility of their enhance costs.

Not only that, enhance is just plain annoying when it comes to its interaction with other game mechanics like cost reduction, basically kills off any interaction these two mechanics might have ever had by making enhance completely overwrite any cost reduction effects.

This meta is a lot more stagnant and oppressive because shadow and dragon combined stomp out literally every other deck in the game so ranking on ladder becomes a pissing contest of teching for one and getting reamed in the ass by the other.

It's not very fun and reminds me of HS an expansion or two ago. It's kind of ironic that we switched places with HS having an expansion with many T1 heroes and diverse decks.

Shadow right now has 60%+ winrate against every craft in the game except Dragon and Haven. It's funny when you remember that Haven is Shadow's natural predator and even a deck teched just to deal with it only has a 46% winrate...

No daria was never this bad, she was only around 25% of the meta and dshift was the rest of runes 33% play rate. Daria bricked often and could be aggro'd to death easily.
Dragon and Shadow are over 50% of the meta alone and all their deck variants are similar to each other unlike Dshift and daria which makes for a very stale, shitty meta.

Prince is so far a symptom of all the bad design decisions they have made up until now.

I said back in RoB that giving free AoE to every class that isn't Haven is going to push the game to revolve around out of hand damage and stupid combos. This happened with Wallet Dragon. What even I didn't expect is that they printed Catacombs specifically to get around board clears that THEY insisted on printing and this just broke Shadow.

Its a culmination of all the bad design decisions of the game and it won't get better until Cygames admits it fucked up hard and introduces formats.

I don't hate aggro I think it's a completely legit way of playing. I only hate Dshift and Seraph because these two cards completely dictates that no control decks are allowed in the meta. I understand that one deck would have a higher advantage over another deck but those two cards literally make it so that all control decks would automatically lose to it. There is a difference between being at a disadvantage so you have to bait out your opponent cards and just automatically losing at turn 8-9. The result is the unhealthy meta you see today where you are practically forced to go arggo and hit face. There are no control decks to speak of to keep aggro on their leash.

Formats/vial cap are coming. Going forward outside of neutrals which is their bread and butter whale mine we'll keep getting more stuff like giant/ginger/minthe/nepthys which are for specific playstyles and conflict with other legos. Candelbra is a very powerful card... if haven ever gets more powerful amulets and the game slows down enough for them to do it. However Haven is stuck in a weird place right now where it gets outpaced by both aggro and mid-shadow (and even mid-sword most of the time...) and yet if the game goes on too long Bahamut and Lightning Blast come into play and render amulets useless.

It all goes back to Cygames being retarded. This is what people meant when they said cards 'limit design space'.
