Fast torps are easily 10x better against fleeing ships, as every second more the torp takes to arrive is another second the victim has to drive 30-40 knots away from the torp.

Fast torps (that don't have some insane weeb spotting range) are normally harder to dodge when coming towards them, as rudder time is fixed and the closing time is much shorter.

Fast torps when the enemy is moving parallel are much more likely to hit. The slower torps require leading very far from the ship, which means that if they turn either direction even slightly, they'll be completely safe. Fast torps have a much larger margin where if they keep going they'll eat one and if they turn they'll still eat one on the other end of the spread.

That stupid spreadsheet is completely meaningless unless the target is stationary sitting in a smoke cloud. Against moving targets it doesn't give any actual reaction measure.

I just wanted to drop by and let you guys know, I'll be covering the HMS Hood soon, I've been playing it a lot and unlike many other CCs I haven't found it that bad at all. It's absurdly tanky when you angle it properly, I already had a game where I broke well over 3mil potential damage and survived http://i.imgur.com/BgU6wsV.jpg But I want to play it some more before making my vid, because I dislike making vids about ships I'm still undecided about :)

Meanwhile in reality:
Shards has point C aka 'noone can cap this ever because the island allows people to just sit behind it for 15 mintes, and whoever goes aroudn the island dies thanks to 9001 torps and five BB just waiting for exactly that'
Then there is point B, aka any DD that goes here gets radar'd and hydro'd and deleted or pounced on by planes because lol no hope of dodging anything in those narrow channels.
Around point A you can have a good fight, except that never happens because no BB in their right mind will ever go closer than 5 km to an island clusterfuck that transforms something as simple as turning into a 3 minute dodge-the-fucking-islands minigame, and on top of that both sides have one or two conveniently placed islands that allow some extreme faggotry with ships that can park behind them and shoot at things with zero fear of retaliation.

Bonus points for some more opportunity for radar-through-islands faggotry that turns that third of the map into a no-go area for DDs.

Sinking? Yes. BB vs, BB? No. For some reason people like to forget it but BB's shot at BB's on dozens of occasions in WWII. Just most of them ended indecisively. Warspite was involved in a number of those instances, including shooting at Italian BB's on 3 separate occasions (only the 1 is of note).

Warspite was a "real" BB in that she actually had a career of what a BB is supposed to do: Sink and Fight enemy ships. Most other BB's got into fights by accident, ran at first sight, and/or were sunk by subs/planes.

Probably the next most 'used' BB is the KGV. And it's a big gulf between those two.

What is Victory? She's still in commission, a Flagship no less, and sunk 3 ships at Trafalgar, and a few others on another occasion.

When I was at West Point, we had foreign cadets, and the obvious pissing contests ensue, and I remember one German Cadet, when 'discussing' American troops vs. any other nations troops, in a quality sense, came up, she gave an interesting answer that bears repeating (and sort of paraphrasing):

"It's hard to convince one soldier of one nation another soldier of another nation can beat them. They're both guys with rifles at the end of the day and individual training is hard to bear out to overall quality. But you can't argue with an aircraft carrier, we (she speaking of her own country) don't have one. We don't have any. And we don't have anything that can deal with them on a 1 to 1 basis. I've never forgotten it and later on, when in contact with other foreign troops, I heard similar responses. It's hard as an Army guy (especially from the Academy) to admit it, but the Navy is what makes the American military worthwhile, not our troops.

Problem with US schools is that there isn't a consistency. Some US Schools are the best in the world, some are the worst. Sometimes in the same state. Lacking a set standard by which all schools are held and federal funding would go in a far ways to bring everyone to a healthy median. Speaking as an Academy guy I have an appreciation for what a good school is and the US has VERY good ones, but the awful ones definitely bring down the curve.

Hood won't be free, Chinks already leaked the campaign missions and requirements. The campaign is for the Bismarck battle damage skin, not Hood.

Skins are apparently a new thing they're doing and and alter the ship model itself instead of just the camouflage.

Basically you complete campaign missions for special containers, which give badges or some shit. Collect all the badges and get the skin.

Some of the campaign missions require you to play Hood, and a Hood skin and premium camo are rewards for completing portions of the campaign.

What good is maximized concealment on a CA past a certain point?

Some cruisers want max concealment, such as Moskva, Henri, or Mino, either because theyre otherwise visible from space or because they like to get as close as possible to their prey.

But on Des Moines and Zao there's not as much of a point anymore. They have naturally good concealment and get all they need out of CE. They can't invisifire anymore so max investment isn't as useful. You could argue that it lets them disengage more easily, but then they shouldn't be wandering within 10km of stuff they may need to turn away from in the first place.

Des Moines might benefit from its concealment almost matching its radar range, but I've tried that and it's just about as niche as having a 56s long radar. And there have been plenty of moments where I wished I had more time on my radar to keep things exposed. But that's also niche.
