I'd say SV's system is generally better, mostly because it doesn't dump the entire goddamn ladder into one pool every month. There's actually something resembling a difficulty curve to ladder. Sure you get sandbagging assholes, but so does Hearthstone. That's a problem caused by daily quests being tied to winning (with specific classes no less), not ladder structure.

guardian sun stays on board pretty long because you will also have a tribunal up the whole match
grail makes it so you don't loose your deck and between it an olivia you should have enough power to win even if you don't draw reckoning

Once you have every bronze, silver, and nearly every gold you want x3. At that point you're pretty much just opening 120-200ish vials 99% of the time, and it's just a waste of gold. Since they upped the jewing on the number of legends it isn't realistic to try to run meta decks for all 7 classes anymore IMO, particularly when it's a losing game with the rate of power creep.
