In DaS1, two handed attacks have very high multipliers compared to one handed attacks. This also applies to R1, R2 and jumping attacks. Jumping attacks usually do the most damage while R1 does the least. With the ASS the 2HR2 and jumping attacks will be your highest damaging attacks. 2HR1 will have good DPS.

Scaling increases your AR, multipliers increase your damage.

Thing is, unless you'd believe that Londor is going to give you their collected humanity/dark soul after or when you usurp the fire, the power they're fostering for you through the main game isn't the power of humanity or the dark soul. It's the opposite.

Your humanity seeps out of the sigil, the sigil is a hole. They're draining your humanity away, to turn you into a raisin. The power you're gaining, if it's even a power at all, would be the power of hollows. Mind you, language is very questionable in the Souls universe and the idea of humanity and man is different in-game to the way we would use these worlds in real life. If humanity is something which comes from the dark soul, can be sucked out and collected and consumed, while a hollow is an empty body that can be filled with souls, then what would the word 'Man' refer to?

When "the true form of Men" is used in the game's dialogue, it always seems to be referring to hollows, which are defined by a lack of humanity or their own soul, just the ability to become a vessel for other souls. That would mean in the game logic, Men have nothing to do with Humanity. Unless you're talking about Manus, who is referred to as a primeval man... The game isn't very consistent, possibly on purpose.

I feel this whole meme comes from people who played to Dragonrider and then stopped or got stuck aftewards. Souls has always handled tracking like this by rotating the whole model. In the better cases there's a feet shuffling animation accompanying it but that isn't always present in any of the games.
The difference in execution is that most animations in other Souls games have fairly short windows for rotation, where enemies can spin around quickly and are then locked to an angle when the end of the swing begins.
In DS2... A lot of attacks are very very slow. Perhaps by necessity because the game has longer recovery times. The slow animations mean that enemies need longer windows to rotate in, and that's why people notice it more. Those ogres should 100% lock their direction before they buttslam though, I have no idea how you get them to do what that webm shows.

I actually tested this last night to make sure:

40 FTH with 28/28 STR/DEX vs 60 with 18/18 is virtually the same buffed damage with Lightning Blade and Sunlight Oath. 60 FTH gives you about 2 more points of AR vs 40 FTH. So unless you're planning on using a lot of miracles, I would recommend using 28/28/40 in order to gain higher AR when not buffed (431 vs 390).

Is the combat in dark souls 3 really that different from the others? My brother has been playing a shitload of dark souls 2 lately, and has given a few shots at ds3 but is stuck at the watchers and just rage quits all the time complaining the game is too fast and reckless. I played a ton of bloodborne before ds3 so the change wasn't nearly as drastic. What do you guys think?

If Dark Souls 3 had a blue eye orb, it would be worse than the ones in DaS1 and DaS2.

Invaders are so shat on that you'd never find anyone with sin to invade, and that's before implementing yet another system to punish them.
You can't be invaded in areas with dead bosses either, so you wouldn't even be able to invade twinks.

Dark Souls 1 had different camera angles for just about every single little area you walked into. You probably didn't even notice when your camera adjusted while going inside/outside of Sen's or into a boss arena.

Armor changing player shit on equip isn't anything new either. DaS2 had lots of armor pieces that adjusted your stance so try to avoid clipping. Wouldn't be that hard.

Go 12 STR, 22 DEX, 60 FTH gives slightly better AR (391) with the same investment in everything else.

I don't feel like either of your offensive miracles would be worth using at 40 faith (SS is essential for Solaire cosplay), especially if you're only using one damage boosting ring, but if you do plan on that you can probably take out some ATN and put it in DEX/STR or END. Also probably should shave a couple of points from VIT so you're right between 69 and 70 equip load.

DaS2 had a bunch of great ideas that were badly implemented. The real problem is that so many of these ideas were never refined for DaS3, or all of the things that were implemented well were never carried over.

I would still take i-frame count and item usage speed being affected by stats, and equip load affecting roll distance and stamina recovery, over the atrocity that is Roll Souls 3.

Can confirm, you will do 70 damage to Artorias. I did a paladin as my first shitty build with Lightning Spear and Astora Straight Sword AND LET ME TELL YOU Artorias was no fucking easy task. After 15 or so deaths it came down to my final Lightning Spear hitting him mid-charge in the air before he killed me. Was a thing of beauty.

FGS attacks only deal the physical portion of the damage, which is about 400AR with 40 Dex and gets little scaling above that. Its unique 2HR1s have the damage scalar of the R2, but are actually slower than the R2 to come out, and considerably slower than regular Scythe 2HR1s without having any additional range despite it looking like it has. They also lose any turning ability very early in the animation so they're awful in PvP. To their credit, they do stagger mobs in PvE for an abnormally long time, as if they're R2s.
