Discord won't do shit if neither you nor a teammate is focusing on the discorded enemy. You have to constantly switch discord targets to whichever enemy is either:

>Highest priority (genji in your back line)
>Mostly likely to actually be hit (roadhog out in the open)

Since targets are always weaving in and out or dying, you should constantly discording as Zenyatta. You have to do the same with your harmony orb, always keeping it on:

>Whoever is taking the most damage right now (roadhog out in the open)
>Whoever has the lowest health (genji in their back line)

On top of that, you'll be leading projectiles nonstop and strafing along with whomever can bodyguard you best

Zenyatta is more multitasking intensive than other heroes, and while being sufficiently useful with him is rather straightforward, he takes a lot of focus to play optimally.

I wanna get back into the game. I played almost exclusively Reinhardt during the Beta and shortly after the game was released, but my friends stopped playing some time after the launch and I just didn't feel like playing alone.

Where do I start getting good again? Is it viable to play mostly one champ (Rein) or is he bad in the current Meta? Is there a place I can find good guides on the game/maps/heroes?

I'm reasonably sure that with how matchmaking works, the only thing that really matter is your initial performance, after that you stay +/- 500 of where you've been.

There are people who are hovering at similar elo for full seasons despite some of them having <50% win rate and other >70%.

Oh, that. Just kill all the sentry bastions, including the 4th one that only spawns on legendary mode, before you do anything else. After that, the kill order is 1st Orisa, 1st Bastion tank, 2nd Orisa, 2nd tank, fuck up any eradicators that are still left (2 were still alive for us at this point), then lower Orisa 3 and 4's health at roughly the same rate. We killed 3rd Orisa while 4 still had about 1/3rd HP left. Last tank Bastion appeared faster than usual and killed me right when I was in my hammer down animation, didn't get it off, but the surviving Torb and Mercy just barely finished off the last Orisa before the tank would've killed them

Or you could compare the players performance to low/average/high performance brackets on a map and reward SR accordingly.

Simple as that. 70% of Rein/support fillers don't fully understand their role in the teamfight and will try to save themselves by running away rather than going out in style.
That applies to dps a good amount of the time too, a lot of people spend the majority of their time doing dumb flanking shit instead of just sticking with the team.
Sometimes as Rein you HAVE to charge in if you want your team to get off their asses because they're afraid to walk onto point behind your shield.

Until at least masters people are missing so much that people's playstyle revolves around banking on their enemy not hitting them.
