My biggest issue with it is that I literally don't see any kind of hype anywhere about the game. A PvP only MMO is asking way too much.

Apparently they are reworking how crafting XP works on Wakfu. Haven't read it all, but hopefully this means no getting literally a million resources taking 400 hours to craft a lvl 20 shitty green bow. Jesus Christ.

You can't have this kind of game as an open world with hundreds of players connected as it would be unplayable with a moderate amount of ping. The whole game as instanced dungeons hosted by players is a solution that makes it work. I think a NIOH or Ninja Gaiden instance based MMO similar to Vindictus and over instance based games with true high skill action combat is very possible.

I mean PSO2 already has the follow;

Normal Attack (literally a Light Attack in Action Games)
Potion Arts (Pretty much the Strong Attack in Action Games)
A Jump button (Jump cancelling exist in PSO2)
A Guard Button (Guard cancelling exist in PSO2)

And a shit ton of action game-like exploits. See: Penta Dashing. It's really trying hard to be an action game.

Renewal has way more things to do than pre-re, more instances and more shit in general. Most pre-re servers have to use old tables or customize everything so the shitty trans level 99 classes can run it.

If you've played alchemist and enjoy it I suggest continuing it and playing a genetic to start with since they're very versatile and strong. And they have a shit ton of utility and can make +20 stat foods.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a class.

Not him but Diablo 2 is clearly, far and away the better Diablo game. Diablo 3 is actually pretty fun in a GAUNTLET way, and with the updates had more customization than I thought it would, with the cube and all that.

It's just all that much more shallow and WoW-like. Not bad at this point, just pablum. Perfect for playing with a friend at least.

I was well aware of the hatred for Diablo 3, but my curiosity tends to peak at games everyone hates. Mass Effect Andromeda, Mighty No. 9, Yooka Laylee, etc.

Diablo 3 is just neo-WoW: ADHD edition.

Torchlight 2 is Diablo 2 with less interesting items.

PoE feels like more a natural progression in customization and 'build it your way' style from Diablo 2.

The closes game I can compare it too is like an online version of Rune Factory(can even get to waifu certain npc's), where you can just do and be good at whatever you want that doesn't always involve combat. Like cooking, black smithing, music, ect. The game's strong point is just doing recreational stuff like that and you'll never feel like any of it is just useless features since the game makes use of a lot of its skills. Its also skill based game where you get stronger the more skills you learn and level, though this can be a double edge sword. The game does have a lot of little flaws that add up the longer you play it but its still a fun ride until you feel like quitting.

D3s problem is that they never bothered to fix core issues in the skills and then proceeded to design themselves into a corner with the itemization. Now they just slap 1000% more damage multipliers everywhere to "fix" and "balance" things.

Let me indulge in autism for a bit.

Ragnarok Online is a game I fell in love with and carries so many good memories.

Exploring a new town's fields, fighting mobs that you've yet to see.

Partying up. Delving into a dungeon for the first time. Pulling too much or aggroing a mini-boss, watching half the party get wiped, laughing as we peel each other off the floor with Ressurects and Yggdrasil Leaves.

Finding one of the walking abominations that are MVPs. Hiding behind a wall and convincing everyone to take it on. Laughing together, again, as we obviously get slaughtered.

That kind of experience is impossible in NovaRO.

Let me explain.

In renewal, which is basically a big overhaul that happened years ago, leveling goes from 1-99, 1-99 again, then 100-175. The first 99 levels and the rebirth are pre-renewal and pretty straightforward to get through. Things slow down past level 90. The exp you need increases exponentially and you start to look for parties.

In NovaRO, this is where you start doing Gramps. This six letter word triggers the fuck out of me.

Here is how Gramps works. You make a party of players between levels 85-114, then talk to some old cunt. He can teleport you to specific map for your level range, and tells you to grab the grind quests on the board next to him.

You take the grind quests. Kill 400 of one mob, kill 400 of another.

Then you teleport to the map. It is a single fixed map for everyone within the level range of 85-114. The map contains lots of spawns for the two specific mobs you have to kill.

That's it.

Two repetitions of Gramps later you reach 115. Started to get boring running laps around that one map killing the same two mobs over and over, but hey, each Gramps run can be less than half an hour with a decent party.

Right then. What's next? You grab two grind quests: kill 400 of one mob, kill 400 of another. Then you talk to an old man that takes you to a single fixed map with spawns for those two specific wait what the fuck?

Levels 100-175 are definitely much more than half of your leveling experience.

But there's other options, surely? Technically yes. There's other boards and grind quests that take you elsewhere, into the actual massive game world and not into a trio of small fields sectioned off inside an old man's arsehole. But nobody does those, because Gramps is about three to four times as efficient.

That is not exaggerating.

There's no tactics or challenge. No exploration, no discovery, no variance. Just kill 400 of this, 400 of that, repeat. In the same map for thirty levels. Then repeat for the next thirty.

Nova is a server that takes Ragnarok Online's party-grinding gameplay, picks out the dullest, most monotonous elements, and pushes it forward as by far the most correct and efficient way to play.

That is not okay.

It's been months since I left that server. Things could have changed. If things haven't changed... well.

This post is a plea. It hurts to think that people could experience a game dear to me at its complete, absolute worst.

Don't play NovaRO.
