Nah, Links don't work that way. Link 4 monsters need 4 monsters to be summoned, but you can make them with fewer if you use other Link monsters as materials. For instance you can summon Firewall or Bomber Dragon with two Link 2 monsters, or Decode Talker and one other monster. Because that shit adds up to 4.

And when it's your turn you just get rid of it if needed.
