I was playing as Sweden earlier today in EU4, and Poltava is so far fucking south it makes no sense. Moscow and St. Petersburg were a lot closer to his supply lines and possible reinforcements.

I don't think the mission has anything to do with their current dynasty, you can just take it any time and get the enforce union cb, so keeping them around as an ally until then is probably a better plan, since if you don't PLC will tear into them since you're pretty much their only friend in the world

What were the mechanics of claiming the throne? Can I outright PU them in a war, or are there any side mechanics that prevent it? Also, will the PU claim disappear after their heir inherits?

Can someone explain the co-belligerent box on the declare war screen?

It's my understanding that if I check my enemies allies I can take their land for the same cost and it's basically declaring war on both nations. But if I leave the box unchecked then the allies will just be helping in the war and taking their provinces will be harder. Is that correct?

So, let's say you're the USA, and you're after Iroquois and Huron's provinces. Huron is allied to Britain and Iroquois, while Iroquois is allied to Huron and Canada.

So, you declare war on Iroquois. They bring in Canada and Huron. But if you checked Iroquois as a cobelligerent, taking their shit is cheaper, but they can call in Britain too.

I love other Paradox games but I haven't been able to get into EU4 playing as Castile or Portugal. It just feels like I'm spending all my time waiting for monarch points. Are there more interesting countries for a beginner?
