I've been meaning to record and make some webms but I always forget when we actually have a party going.

If you liked the party grinding aspect of Ragnarok then you will probably like this game. There's modern generic MMO questing but it's not really required. You should be doing the story quest at some point because there's some pretty dope rewards but the best xp right now is partying in dungeons that can't really be soloed.

Be warned though, the grinding gets real after level 30.

Most P2W shit would be artifacts which are time limit based buffs bought from the cash shop. The most basic one is pic related and then there's some shit that allows you to expand the daily limit of some things like Growth xp which is sorta like your account level, it's shared between all characters. All the buffs that give bonuses to actual combat stats are 3mins long and you'd basically have to be crazy to buy and use them. They still exist however.

Aside from that there's your standard convenience like more trading slots or being able to unbind items to resell them or getting extra entries to instanced dungeons which so far have been fairly shit.

Also there's no fucking stamina. Growth is capped daily by how high your growth (ie the higher it is the less you can get daily) is but you can level your characters as much as you'd like.

Near the launch of the game people discovered that you could call functions from the game that allowed you to for example complete quests anywhere. This meant you could get xp cards for levels that you weren't high enough yet and a lot of other bullshit.

Supposedly they fixed this but a few months after the launch a hack surfaced that allowed all this again. I checked a few months back and they had done nothing to stop it.

Warlocks are the only real debuffer right now and they're plenty. Their DoTs also don't stack so having many warlocks in your group isn't very good. Max party size 8 btw.

Buffers are Priests and Monks and Priests are also the only real healer. Monk doesn't get much for heals but gets a really good party buff so one per party is good to have. Again more than one monk isn't very good. And Monks are plenty. It's also quite nice to have two priests in a group.

Our guild has pretty good amount of tanks but generally these games have very few tanks at endgame. One or two per group depending on what you're doing. Definitely seems like there will be bosses/dungeons where two tanks will be useful.

Rest of the damagedealers are just that and there's usually plenty of them. Though there's not very many Sorcerers since most seem to go Warlock instead.

Too early to say anything about optimal party compositions or shit like that.

When doing the tutorial missions, don't do anything before they actually ask you to do it.

While in 'cutscenes' don't spam buttons too much it might cause a black screen when you get stuck in a transition.

Growth points can't be reset without cash shop so spend them wisely.

The only real quest you should care about after the tutorial ones is your story quest which is marked with a book icon on your quest tracker. Oh and the ones given by the storage guy to expand your inventory. Look for a group to grind (most likely at a dungeon called Charnel House) at 15+ or even slightly before that.

Class advancement is at level 20 and it gives you a free skill reset also refunding all skill points spent so far (but not the money spent to learn the skills).

Nice. Started playing it on launch. Was thinking about joining Murim since I'm in their discord. Honestly the most fun I've had in an MMO in years and not really sure why. Charnel House and like 24+ you can do to Elbeck's Hidden Passage. Both places need a group. If you're solo then just quest. With a smaller party you can do one of those areas on the map marked with a H. They are sligthly harder small party oriented areas that usually have repeatable grinding quests to go with it.

Not him, but I don't get much from PvP and PvE gets really repetitive after some time. I would gladly track down interesting and rare resources and artifacts from around the lands to craft more interesting and better artifacts that I can trade to my host guild than sit around ganking or raiding all day. A crafters life should be one of social interaction where the community (guild or general) looks to you to produce equipment/supplies so they can function at peak efficiency, which potentially makes your role an important one.

While it's not an MMO, on DayZ I used to play on an RP server where literally all I did was scavenge for loot that I traded to the different groups in exchange for protection and some basic supplies/useless RP items.

desu the ability for anyone to have the same crafting capabilities as some nigga who does nothing but craft has kept crafting in the backseat of MMOs. In current MMOs I don't see how anyone could like a crafter role as there is nothing that makes their product or profession more worthwhile than the guy who logs on just long enough to complete his raid every week. Take my DayZ example; I was able to contribute to the community in a fairly significant manner without participating in any grand battles by simply knowing how to get around and taking the time to find some ammo and guns to keep them supplied. MMO crafters should enjoy a similar role, perhaps through a system where two crafters don’t produce the same exact product. Wurm Online did a nice job of this, as only those who put in time to their craft could create items of high quality level and iirc no single person could become a master of all trades. MMOs definitely need some content outside of the PvE gear treadmill and PvP combat, but I don't see it happening.

they added cash shop tradable rng based gear enhancers to attract newer players but apparently it worked out well both for economy as a stale gold sink and for older players instead, for multi leveled dick measuring. Some people even making money off those retards who are trying to paypal endgame gear to jump in and rape em all (not so much on NA though), those players are either quitting after the realization of all the grind they need to endure anyway or staying for collecting clothes purposes.
there are no pay to play features anymore, besides guild creation. Premium players still have their offline selling, cosmetic gear slot, one more tab in the inventory, stuff like that. There are things like skill training seals and potions too, as event rewards and as rng from gachas. The game is still too slow by today's standards even with all this garbage.
the new hotness is to sit underleveled for months until you accumulate 4-7k APs worth of usable skillset that suits you, because leveling talents brings additional APs reward 4 times per every talent you can reset afterwards for free without loosing progress on the leveled skill ranks. This brings us the update that will be in two days promising something for leveling AFTER lvl1000, which is pretty funny. We'll see
the game is lonely on lower levels. Meanwhile there's still some content to be enjoyed only on lower levels, because this is the game where you'll just too weak to that certain thing all the way till you are completely OP to it. It's still like this. Maybe because of protection stat, i don't know.
And, the chat tools are all the same primitive shit so people who used to be divided between skype and all those messengers now flock to places like discords, there are three? bigger ones. I despise relentlessly memeing discordfaggots but can't deny that tool helped the game a lot. At least helped those lonely newbs who don't feel icky about discord to ask things and get instant competent responses.

It's only the worst part because the devs don't try to make it fun. There's a real demand for a good and meaningful crafting system - look to a lot of manga, LN's, and anime where they heavily focus on crafting being useful and a specialized skill. I personally been raiding and doing PvE content for a decade. I'm tired of it. I want a MMO where I can specialize as a blacksmith or a farmer and have an impact on the community instead of everyone and their mother being able to buy shit off the auction house and level up and being just as impactful as the guy who focuses heavily on crafting.

I like what FFXIV did with their crafting system but it's not where I'd personally like it to be. I want a crafting system where crafters have their own dungeons or content just like combat classes do. Ashes of Creation seems to be going this route but I'm 100% sure it'll fail because any mmo that does something different fails.
