Btw. did you guys really get shit fps in the first zone after the shuttle crash? I have an i5 and a 1060 and get constant 60 fps. I play windowed to be able to easily shitpost on the side but stil, everything is high and l the performance is pretty good so far and nothing is running hot. I feared the worst after DA:I.

Yes, the open areas are performance heavy. I was getting 30-50 fps in the first zone. Lowering shadows and lightning quality, turning off HBAO full and disabling triple buffering helps.

I had really bad fps drops on a 1070 at first but sort of fixed them by disabling a bunch of stuff in the nvidia control panel. And yeah, presets for women were extremely limited and surprisingly dark compared to the men (as far as what I've seen in videos). If you wanted to make her black or Indian, there's a lot more options.

So I played the original mass effect as a soldier or whatever. It was pretty strong, but also rather boring. Going to try out ME2 in a bit, currently on the fence between a Vanguard and an Adept. Any opinions on which is more fun?

I have complicated feelings about ME:A selling well. One the one hand, it means that EA probably won't can Bioware and we'll eventually get DA4. On the other hand, it'll probably be as crappy as ME:A because now Bioware knows that people will buy anything.

I'm not very far yet but I'm having a very hard time caring about the plot so far. I'm not a very big fan of sci-fi in general so that might be the reason why, but at least the previous ME games had a clear conflict and some likeable characters who made the protagonist's journey meaningful. In ME:A, both the milky way colonists and the angara are so annoying and useless it's pretty much impossible to emphasize with their struggles.

I..I am kinda liking Andromeda so far. I have only reached Eos tho, maybe my opinion will change later.

There are parts where the game feels like it is written by a teenager, the VA/animations are inconsistent, Cora, Liam and most characters feel like literally who(s). But there are many interesting parts, mainly the Remnant ones. Pee Bee is surprisingly an interesting character. The combat and soundtrack are solid. The level-design and visuals are great apart from some wonky lightning on npcs and their low-res face models.

A lot of what Liam says is really confusing to me, I can't tell if it's because I'm not a native English speaker and can't keep up with him or if it's because Sera's writer was behind him. Take this scene for example, he asks you to research some armor for him and then gets naked with Jaal for the sake of insulting one another's armor and getting to know each other that way. Is that supposed to make sense?

that is actually a good question, why does Liam stick around when Yuri Lowenthal and that other guy from Dad Ryder's original team don't? i'm not even entirely sure why Cora does, other than she was Dad Ryder's second and probably wouldn't let you pry the position away from her unless she died. you never get a scene where you're like 'oh yeah, i'm cool with keeping you on as second and Liam can come too'. they just both hop on the Tempest when you leave the Nexus, and Vetra is there too with very minimal introduction... Peebee and Jaal joining felt more natural, and Drack at least had something, i guess...
