Inputs in KI are simple but the combos are fluid and the combo system is adds a lot to the game. But it's on Xbone and Windows 10 so it won't get big any time soon.

I want to make a fighting character, so I want it to have 8 basic special at first, with a weak and a strong version (based on how fast you pressed the special button).

Basically I want a special for every kind of type of player that may be interested, so far I got these:

Rushdown: A rekka system, like Kyo.
Combo: A flying kick like Chun li.
Mix up: A cannon spike like Cammy.
Grab: A grab like Clark, with several continues.
Zoning: A DP like ryu.
Fireball: A fireball that can be charged like Samus.
Trap: Some invisible trap, like that GG character.
Keepaway: A corner jump wall, like Ciel (melty) or mai (kof), with continues.
Counter: A counter, like Rock in garou.

Is this basic moveset good enough?

People like combo videos and shit like that usually because they play the game and can try and repeat what they see. I could make a game that automatically continues infinite randomized combos while you mash buttons, but that doesn't have any appeal. Unless the game is so good it might as well be dispensing blowjobs from your fightstick you're putting effort after foolishness.

Fighting games are already weapon's grade autism, making one that is stupid complicated for the sake of only the most exceptionally devoted (read as: obsessed) players is dooming it to fail. You'd be making the extreme ironing of fighting games.

You need to design characters with healthy tools to accomplish various tasks: the hallmark of a good fighting game is a variety of characters that can achieve results in various ways.
