I'm new to DS3, only played though most of Demon's and halfway through DS1 so I have a few questions:

1) If I took 40 STR and 18 DEX, would I be better with a Heavy infusion for A STR and no DEX scaling, or a Refined infusion for B scaling both STR & DEX?

2) Is 40~ VIT worth investing into(as opposed to 40 DEX for a C/D STR/DEX scaling weapon)?
I don't really know how things have changed but it seems a lot of investment is needed to even wear medium armors with heavy weapons.

3) Is the meta SL for PvP still 120, and what does weapon level determine? A friend said now I don't have to synchronize soul levels anymore to coop, but I don't know what he means by that.

Is it worth dropping a dedicated blocking shield from 100% to 95% for a Simple infusion?

If you dont want to be a vig gouging/ twink faggot you go 60 faith or int and either lightning blade, darkmoon blade or crystal magic weapon. Darkmoon blade is the best in theory since most people have lower magic than lightning resist and wins over crystal magic weapon because chimes have higher spell buff than staves generally speaking but you will get an aneurysm. If you want to smear your weapon with weird residue of living creatures instead of infusing it with your mighty intellect go for pale pine resin. Of course the damage will be higher if you use spell buffs instead of resins but with resins you can switch your damage type on the fly, which you will need 2 spell slots for if you go for magic which is arguably not that big of a deal though.

It's completely dependent on the weapon and it's base AR because base AR plays a huge roll in determining what you get out of scaling (pretty much as much as the scaling letter does).

Instead of asking what will do more damage with what weapon at what level, you should use mugen or test yourself by looking at the stats you get when infusing.

meta is 120, 125, 140, anywhere around there

in DaS3, you can only invade people within your weapon's level range as well as your own level range. If you have a +6 weapon, you can't invade anyone with a weapon of a lower level than +4. These restrictions and level restrictions in general don't exist for coop when you use a password.

I already have a 60 fai drakeblood DMB build.

I wanted to make a vig/end/vit gouge since it got a 100 AR buff with raw.


I just couldn't decide between a minimal phys AR increase from blessed weapon, or one of the resins of the same element the sword has.

Need some help figuring this out guys.

Whenever I launch and play DS3 for any period of time I start experiencing difficulty elsewhere. I can no longer launch or open any internet browser. One at a time usually. I will have to reinstall any and all internet browser just to open again.
I have completely uninstalled DS3 and all its updates and reinstalled but no avail.
I reset my computer to an earlier date and Ds3 Is still my only change that makes this happen.
What direction could I go in to figure out whats going on? I am at a loss.

Tough question, I would go for resins. I have tried making blessed weapon work but I hate how short the duration is. Might just be me though. Maybe blessed weapon actually gets more damage but you actually make the split damage worthless so you lose a good bit of damage. You would have do to some actual number crunching on players. Just go to 15 faith and get one attunement slot and slap pale pine resin on your hotbar. Use blessed weapon against makes and pale pine resin against physical tanks.

Should I just man up and level from 120 to 125? Will that meaningfully reduce the activity I get?

Dark Weapon has absolutely nothing to do with dark spells.It's classed purely as a miracle and only scales from faith and get's no benefit from dark scale increase catalysts.

It's also the one spell in the entire game that has Dark in it's name.

Fromsoftware literally put 30 seconds effort into 90% of the things in the game. They likely have never even looked at the spell post the game going Gold before release.

I really like the Fluted Set, it's one of my favorite in the series. The Old King Set is also amazing (I enjoy Gundyr's Set as well) but I haven't fought Doran yet. Also the exposed legs aren't my thing.

Midir is hard because he's super fucking tedious. Most of his attacks are either easy to dodge or have to be ran away from in order not to be fucking killed.

Nameless King is a genuinely hard fight without any artificial difficulty. First phase is piss easy if you know what you're doing, shouldn't even be considered. Second phase consists of a large health pool - which is okay, since he's the son of motherfucking Gwyn - and hard-hitting, but choreographed attacks. Of course, he has mix-ups, but it's Dark Souls.

Freide is.. iffy. Her first phase can put you in the dirt, but patience will always win the fight with her. Second phase is pretty easy as well, so long as you keep your eye on Freide and just bleed the shit out of Ariandel. Third phase is pretty fucking hard because of how relentless she is and how hard she hits now.

Gael.. ahh, Gael. He has a pretty overloaded kit, but.. he has the Dark Soul. He's literally a god at this point. His first phase is pretty easy, just dodge left and right, etc. Second and third phase is A LOT of shit to deal with, though. Hits like a truck too.

I'm gonna have to say Gael or Nameless King. Hell, even Sulyvahn is still up there with them in terms of difficulty, although not as hard.

As a STR user what weapon would be best to bypass shields? Does Man-Serpent Hatched actually bypasses shield if I use it's WA? Or Is shield Bypass on it only a thing for WA+R2

Sully's difficulty comes from his moveset punishing people who try to roll BACKWARDS. Not a lot of bosses do that so it fucks with people who are trying to escape his combos. The funny thing is how much EASIER he gets in P2, so as long as you rush him down the fight is relatively cake.

The first time I beat gundyr without parrying or summoning, I just rolled. When just rolling vs him the only advice I can give is try and roll around him proactively and stay close to him. It's the one fight in the game where once I got good at rolling him, I really felt like I was outplaying the boss.

Despite the outrageous memery, 120 is not havel mage tier, it's barely even mage tier. That's about the level most builds are realized. I think I have a character at that level that has 39 Vig, 25 End and Vit, 66 STR, and 18 dex. Not exactly the king of the sues.

The biggest issue with 120 isn't build variety, but the people you encounter, since that's also duelfag levels. I always preferred invading at meta levels though to grief "muh honabru duer" types anyway.

I can get the stats for Cursed Weapon and Second Chance while still having the cracked Talisman of Beasts.

I really don't want to dupe on my first playthrough I know a lot except what's really good and most of the later level layouts. However the Colorless Demon's Souls are so horrifyingly tedious to get without a guaranteed way of doing so without killing NPCs so I think I might just dupe those.

I'd say my biggest complaints with balance are (in order of biggest to least):
