So I just started playing Witcher 3 and I hope this isn't a dumb question:

What's the point in investing skill points on more than one sign when using one totally depletes my stamina?

Like, if I made both my Igni and Quen strong, wouldn't it be a waste since after I cast Quen I won't be able to use Igni anyway?

Am I missing something? Do you guys just stick to just using one Sign? Kinda sucks then that I have to invest skill points on other signs just to unlock the tiers further down.

Even though the armour is the stuff of legends, you've probably got the Mahakaman Rune Sihill which is better than Geralt's master-crafted sword from the books, and if you weren't a brainless asshat your silver sword will be fucking Arondight, blessed by the Lady and a weapon of destiny.

But sure, a smith living in the ass end of nowhere can sell you a half-rusted sword that's better, rotting sack cloth provides better defence than Raven's armour, and some melted down platters will make a better silver sword than Arondight. Why not.

As you unlock more ability slots and put Signs in them, you increase your stamina regen. Tawny Owl potions bump your regen too. By mid to late game you can spam Signs pretty well.

Early on I would just invest in combat skills or alchemy. You can always get a Potion of Clearance for $1K and reset all your points if you want to use a different build later.

Fuck me I just can't beat that timed race in Blood and Wine on Death March. The hitbox on these dummies is fucked as is mounted combat in general. Been at it for almost 3 hours now.

I don't want to fuck my death march save by lowering difficulty. I even tried using the console to slow down time, but all it does is make it blindingly obvious how my sword goes right through these fucking dummies.

How did you do it? I don't even care about cheating anymore, I just want to win that race, get that fucking saddle, and continue playing.

Well, I just finished Hearts of Stone.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the final area of the quest was settled within the temple site I'd stumbled across when doing the royal wyvern contract in the same cave.

I have to wonder, though, if it was worth it in the end to help Olgierd. O'dimm is clearly some incredibly powerful, ancient evil. He honestly seems a more intimidating and unnerving force than the Crones or Wild Hunt.

Is there anything truly stopping him from just poofing to wherever Geralt is one day, freezing time, and shoving a spoon in his eye like the poor sod at the Alchemy Inn?

Runes are very situational.

Protection on Bear works because it's a free Quen at the start of combat and has a 30% chance of recasting when it breaks. Go nuts.

The light weight armour one is good if you're using a Signs build. Then you can still wear heavy armour but cast often.

Deflection can be good if you have trouble with ranged enemies.

I thought most of the sword ones were shit though.

I've started another fresh playthrough of the TW1 with the intention of going through the whole series, since I haven't played the third one yet. I only ever beat TW2 once though. Did they carry on with save transferring from 2 to 3 like they did with 1 to 2?

Does the path of your choosing at the end of TW1 come up at all in TW2/3? I've always greatly preferred to go neutral but I still kind of like siding with the order, so I was wondering if I should even bother with having two saves with each ending handy if anything about it might come up again in the later games.

If you went with Iorveth for TW2 there are chunks of TW3 that won't make any sense, like Roche trusting you or wanting to work with you at all.

Some stuff from the first game comes up in the second. If you help the Order it gets you out of some fights later on in TTW2, but helping the Squirrels will get you out of others.

Very little from either of the first two games plot-wise transfers to the third, and no items do aside from a certain character chiding you for losing something important she may have given you in the first game.

Roche stayed friendly toward Geralt and helped him sneak into Henselt's camp even if he went with Iorveth during Witcher 2. I don't think it's unusual that he wants to work with Geralt in Witcher 3 especially if both of rham have a common interest in cooperating. Roche is even ready to work with Nilfgaard and Emhyr, the people who plotted to murder his king and invaded his country, let alone Geralt.

Is 'Rise of the White Wolf' mod for TW1 worth installing?

There's very little that carries over to the Witcher 3. Mostly every decision you make in 2 is either the "right" decision, or if you picked the "wrong" decision, during the 6 month period between the games it gets turned into the "right" decision anyway.

How the witcher 3 did it is for the ps4/xbone which didn't have access to the previous games, very early into the game you get interrogated by a dude who asks you about your decisions in the second game if you don't import a save. Only one of them is ultimately very important, the others barely change anything.

There's only one decision that carries all the way from the Witcher 1 to the Witcher 3 that you can't get if you started with a 2 or 3 save, and it is incredibly minor.
There's also one thing that carries over from the Witcher 2 to the Witcher 3 that you can't get from the emulated save file.

Doesn't that ending more or less point to Geralt dying? He's mourning her as dozens and dozens of monsters swarm him, and he has neither of his swords. gameplay-wise that isn't a problem, but it doesn't really seems like he makes it in that ending.

Also why the fuck is that the only possible way to kill the last crone? That's kind of disappointing, really. I wish they'd made the post-epilogue world match the ending set-up you got, so you could go on one last adventure with Ciri, to reclaim Vesimir's wolf's head and finish off the Crone, and also not have this weird disconnect where you're doing stuff after you beat the story, but the story treats it like the last chapter is eternally unfinished.

I'm on my second playthrough and decided to romance Triss instead of going with Yen. I deeply regret my decision. I just wanted to see what it would be like if I did it this way but it wasn't worth it. Triss is such a bland basic bitch. She's far less compatible with Geralt than Yen is. The villagers are fucked anyway, you just either help the Order or the elves win the battle.

For me, it makes far more sense for Geralt not to interfere and go his own way. Do what you like though, if you don't feel too lazy and are hungry for more Trissfu moments return and stay neutral.

Honestly, last few playthroughs I've been playing on easy(I really don't like the combat) and I never had one problem with it. I just loaded the fight to remind myself a bit and beaten him in like 3 minutes. First set of mutants die easily using group mod and when he summons the fiery ones, just ignore them and use strong stye and focus on Grandmaster only. Finally did it, and when it started with the grandmaster and his fire hounds, i wanted to cry, luckily the Wild Hunt King came and btfo'ed him, so i fought him and beat him.

and there it ends i guess, time to import to witcher 2, i met with dandylion and then there was a cutscene where he explains the event then it all went to black and some music(probably some cutscene which won't play on my game ill youtube it now).

btw the Wild Hunt King truly did btfo me, he said every decision i made was mistake :( does he say that too when you go the neutral Trissfu path?

and the scoiatel are scum, even after the King pardoned them they still attacked merchants and civilians...

Also i guess if you side with the Order the scoiatel work with the salamanders, right ?

Make sure you saved in that little room before talking to Dandelion. That's where you import from.

No, it's always Jacques de Aldersburg. If you went the Order path then Siegfried gets promoted to Grand Master.

In Act 5 the squirrels and the Order are hostile to you and will attack you. At the end of Act 5 when you go to the Old Manor and through the burning Vizima streets you have Triss to accompany you.

The real question is did you save Adda or kill her? Spoiler for TW3This is the only thing that you can have carry all the way from 1 to 3.

Triss never mentions who she was talking to in the mirror, but based on all the info, it's safe to assume it's one of the Lodge members(probably Keira due to her role at Foltests court and blonde hair, but I've seen theories that it can also be Philippa)

The only thing Triss does mention is that thanks to Geralt the Lodge managed to convince Foltest to approach them for help, which was their interest all along, to gain influence at Foltest's court. And Triss becomes the royal advisor in the end.

And never trust autosaves. As someone who played video games way before the auto saves were even a thing, I grew with the habit of always keeping backups and make my own saves. It's a useful habit.
