Is there any mod that adds cameras other than SecurityCraft?

Bonus for ability to make a big startrek-like screen
>>
>>172773039
Sadly I think securitycraft is the only mod. The cameras are great but the mod is filled with so many useless shit.
>>
>>172773535
I don't like the way securitycraft implements cameras very much. also is there any way to have just the cameras and remove the bloat?

Check in Warpdrive or Matter overdrive if theres something like that or Galacticraft Display screen which is a multiblock screen that displays several planets or a linked rocket.
>>
>>172775039
Nah I'm using Warpdrive and Matter Overdrive and there's nothing like that. Problem I'm having is my ship doesn't really have any good lookout points. Even in the bridge you have little visibility, so I was thinking of putting cameras in various points along the ship, but securitycraft cameras are buggy and I don't want the rest of what comes with the mod.
>>
>>172775587
Whats the bug with the cameras?
>>
>>172776507
it needs another mod as prerequisite for the cameras to work but having this mod fucks with securitycraft itself
you can't set more than 1 camera to a single monitor for example and there's other stuff that sometimes stops working randomly
>>
>>172776904
Yeah Looking glass is really shitty, I think the only thing you can do is to remodel the ship so that it has more visibility, also post ship.
>>
>>172777757
yeah but I would have to trade integrity for visibility

ship is "ancient jedi ship" or something like that. got it from planet minecraft

Ok, time to pack up, boys.
Aside from the machines that still need polish, Techguns feels like a superior combination of Flan's Guns and Chocolate Quest (military bases with specific objectives and alien bug nests). It only needs a military-themed way to produce RF.
(Looting diesel tanks to power generators, maybe?)

Zombie Awareness really makes this mod come alive. Imagine going ham with a Combat Shotgun while fending off a horde. Techguns also adds dismemberment depending on weapons used, so no need to install iChun's Mob Dismemberment mod.

Is there some kind of backpack/bag mod that isn't MAWPC bullshit?

I want a way to increase inventory space but not infinitely.

>dude lets just let you carry 20 40-slot backpacks possibly containing more backpacks lmao
>>
>>172811605
Alright, so Techguns adds another generated structure to the game, and those are Alien Bug Nests. Pic related is what it looks like inside one. On the surface, take note of Hardened Sand blocks with a hole in the middle. (I assume that these nests mostly show up on desets.) The slimy "vine" will be your way in.

Compared to Military Bases, Bug Nests are much easier, provided that you have ample ammo. Alien Bugs behave like Spiders, and usually show up from Bug Holes, their version of a mob spawner.

Hey guys, I'm hosting a server for my little brother and his friends. They mostly play with Monster Apocalypse as the main plugin (https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/monster-apocalypse), but lately they became interest in Attack on Titan.
Yesterday I installed Attack on Titan lite (https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/attack-titan), which makes giants spawn that can only be killed by slicing their neck and adds a kind of grappling hook to the right click of the sword. Alone it works perfectly fine, but loading MA after it disables the titan spawning (and I'm guessing if I could spawn them they'd not have custom AI) and loading MA before AoT disables MA completely.

Basically the fun for them when playing with MA is building a fortress by day and defending it by night or alternatively building a giant fortress in creative mode and defending it for as long as possible.
The core feature of MA is that zombies are able to break walls, so just building a mud hut and waiting for the night won't do. Sadly the Titans from AoT can't break walls at all, so they'd be perfectly safe if they build a big wall (or a mud hut), which would of course be boring.

My ideal solution to this would obviously be to somehow get MA and AoT to work along side each other, but I realize that this might be hard.

So my question: Is there any way to actually make these two plugins compatible or is there an alternative for MA that would make camping in the fortress impossible/a problem?

Nowadays, it's usually an item handler capability being attached to the item, but otherwise, modders would just add the inventory to the item via NBT and some GUI work.

Basically a self-incrementing register.

The only good thing I came up with (picrelated) isn't synchronous and also slow as fuck -- takes 1.8 seconds to increment 16 bits. In the end it's 2 seconds per increment with dumb synchronization logic added. That's real bad.

Besides, did you even try 1.11 BuildCraft? It's quite unstable and definitely not ready for modpacks (to the point of where we didn't even call it 8.0) - and by the time it will be, it is likely that the community will either move on to 1.11.2 or maybe even start moving up to 1.12.

And don't tell me this won't happen - I've heard the same thing said about 1.4.7, 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 already. The effort to port from 1.10 to 1.11 in the future would be fairly big, as BuildCraft operates fairly heavily on ItemStacks; we decided it is more optimal to spend the time we would have spent porting in the future adding new features until we catch up with the community at large.

Automating anything in any of the newer mods is such a fucking pain in the ass because the mods force you to keep upgrading each individual block/multiblock system and don't really let you play with the fun part which is turning the potato knishes into little black squash balls.
>>
>>172861597
This, really. I have no problem with having to automate the microcrafting, I mean really, that's what the purpose of automation IS. But I don't get to do that, I have to sit around microcrafting with my hands for, at this point, days on end just to get half of an automation setup done.
There's a difference between making someone work for their automatic squash balls and making the entire game the work to get to automation.
>>
>>172861143
>the community will either move on to 1.11.2 or maybe even start moving up to 1.12.
Good point. That's bound to happen considering all the big mods that have jumped to 1.11 - oh wait, that's not happening. The vast majority of big content mods are still exclusive to 1.10. What you're suggesting will happen will not happen any time soon because users follow the content, but the content is moving to 1.11 at a snail's pace. At this point it might make sense for some to just skip 1.11 and start porting their 1.10 mod to 1.12. So like I said before, a ton of content will still be split between 1.10, 1.11, and 1.12.

By the way, note how 1.8 and 1.9 don't have nearly as many mods as 1.7.10, because 1.7.10 was a standard for much longer due to Mojang deciding to take a longer vacation. I don't have numbers for this but there are still a ton of people playing on 1.7.10 to this day (wasn't there that reddit poll a few months ago indicating half that sub's userbase was still on 1.7.10?).

I understand mod authors don't want to go through the pain of developing for a standard version and then porting it to a new version. But that is the ONLY reason.

>>172861451
Already read it cuck. I've seen more than a few of mod authors complaining about how stupid the users are for expecting authors to target certain versions which is why I made that post.

Actually, by the time 1.7.10 caught on, 1.8 was already out - the problem was a lot of madness on all sides which ultimately caused all of 1.8.x to be skipped, giving 1.7.10 another year of development. By 1.9's release, when the madness was mostly sorted out, the modders slowly started moving on to the new versions.

>I understand mod authors don't want to go through the pain of developing for a standard version and then porting it to a new version. But that is the ONLY reason.

And it's a perfectly reasonable reason, combined with the fact the community will catch up anyway. If 1.7.10, with its giant base of content and unprecedented stability, didn't manage to stop the community from updating, nothing will. Would you rather the BuildCraft team spend a month porting or adding new functionality?

Also, one of BuildCraft's closest mods design-wise - Forestry - is also primarily targetting 1.11 now. Binnie's Mods will likely be exclusively 1.11.

Yep. This is why 1.7.10 is actually a good platform while all 1.8+ versions are dogshit, 1.10 the least so.

>And it's a perfectly reasonable reason
Right, so then mod authors should stop obfuscating with bullshit reasons.

Nobody said that mods must completely stop updating for other versions. This is another strawman that you and other mod authors like to repeat because what people are actually saying is much more reasonable and harder for you to address.

Yes, but it also makes me fail to understand why people are giving mod count as the primary reason for targetting 1.10 over 1.11. Newer versions won't get more mods by themselves, and if someone wants to play with a large amount of other mods 1.7.10 will probably forever be better for it than 1.10, at least until Mojang slows down or stops updates.

>Right, so then mod authors should stop obfuscating with bullshit reasons.
Like what?

>Nobody said that mods must completely stop updating for other versions.

BuildCraft didn't. We've been updating 1.7.10 and 1.8.9 concurrently until 1.8.9 died off, and the only reason 1.7.10 is being axed soon is because I haven't contributed anything to BuildCraft for months and it doesn't seem like anyone else will. Also, McJty made a library to make his mods work on 1.10 and 1.11 simultaneously, so there's that.

However, do keep in mind most modders don't have enough free time to give their full attention to multiple Minecraft versions, especially with significant differences in mod code across versions. (A notable exception is Sangar who, for a while, maintained 1.7.10, 1.8.9, 1.9.4 and 1.10.2 OpenComputers simultaneously - however, that mod is a bit different due to a huge chunk of it being version-independent)

Of course, we won't mind it if someone else pull requests fixes for the 1.7.10 release and, if they're significant enough, a new version of BuildCraft will probably be released.

Thoughts on the 1.12 changes? Particularly the controversial ones. It seems like a more definitive version to go to than 1.11, in terms of concrete changes to the game. At least at face value. Got no idea how much it changed under the hood.

Lycanite's mobs spawner is completely fucked up.

>area limit:1
>block cost:8
>group size:1-2
>spawn chance:0.2

guess what happens?
>there's still 20 or some groups per loaded area instead of 1
>the groups are still of 2-4 instead of 1-2
>they still spawn in areas with less blocks than necessary which causes them to suffocate
>they still spawn with 100% chance instead of 20%

my world is completely overrun by these fuckers. any good custom spawner that works with this and BoP?

Lycanites is trash like the rest, the only vaguely good one is hmag.
No one cares about mobs or anything in this game, the only people who do are the idiots at mojang turning it into an rpg.

A spawner override would be far too much work for something literally no one cares about.

Basically, new items are renamed old items with special tags. Ore is generated as you go, as in the map contains nothing but stone, but as you mine a plugin randomly generates ores to mimic real mineman

There are factories which allow you to manufacture some shit much cheaper, and allow you to get OP shit

there are reinforcements which basically means that a reinforced block needs to be broken X times (according to reinforcement material) in order to be actually broken, this ensures that nothing is permanent

there are pearls which allow you to exile another player

there are castle gates which allow you to disappear blocks, very useful for traps and redstone

and a bunch more autistic shit, it's not like vanilla at all

recipes are also modified

Most modders I talked to, myself included, express a combination of joy (as many of the promised features are fantastic in terms of the optimizations/code improvements they could give) and fear (as we do not have enough details to know how exactly Mojang is implementing them).

The thing is, if Grum delivers on his announced changes, it will be about as big a change as 1.8 was, if not bigger - this is why I think we should stabilize on 1.11.2 after all, coupled with the fact 1.11.2's specific change (the de-nullification of ItemStacks) isn't caught by compilers in all cases and, as such, can cause a lot of runtime issues; we don't need to deal with that when 1.12 comes along. Or something. Sorry for sounding a bit incoherent.
>>
>>172913507
(On the other hand, some modders plan to rewrite their mods for 1.12, meaning that they have zero interest in porting to a version that will only be "latest" for 6-9 months where 1.10.2 works perfectly fine. This is part of the reason for the divide.)

Is Mojang legitimately retarded? Why hasn't Microsoft fired those retards yet or hired a bunch of people to make sure Mojang doesn't do stupid shit?
>>
>>172954465
The majority don't play mods, so the code rewrites don't affect them.
Plus, Microsoft has all the semi-competent devs working on Console/Pocket/Win10 so Mojang can't fuck them up.

>>172954465
Yes.
They're faggots hired from the "community", and thus completely incompetent.
Microjew doesn't give a shit about mojang, the java version, or the modding community.

Is it possible to place blocks like picrelated with setblock command?
It's name is "forgemultipartcbe:multipart_block", which is obviously generic, but I can figure out how to make it be specific.

I need some way to generate a large structure, so I'm looking for any automation tool.
Currently the only option (except for placing blocks by hand) is MCEdit, because I can't find a single mod that can copy-paste those blocks except for MCEdit. But MCEdit is a pain to use, and I don't think it has any scripting or something like that, which I need.

Found a really nice mountain to build a magic tower on with an Elytra launch pad for when I get one. Thing is I'm kindof stumped about the block to use for the building itself. It's built on a regular extreme hills biome and it's high enough that the base of the tower area will be snowed upon.

This is what I'm talking about. The locomotive is a Shay, and the cart on the back is the 4-4-0 Tender. The Fluid Loader is on top. If the loader is working for the Tender, the pump "block" that shows up when valid carts are nearby should have connected. It worked for the Shay based on many times of locomotive testing, but the connection point is at the back.

Loading Tenders worked if the Fluid Loader is brought one block down, but it could collide with the larger trains in Traincraft, like the Track Builder.

The only thing I need is an Advanced Liquid Loader that can be placed the same way as an Advanced Item Loader. I haven't tried using Retrieval Nodes directly on the trains.

Oh, and I'm going to correct myself: The 4-4-0 Tender is actually about one block high.

A complicated way around this is splitting the carts, loading them separately and then rejoining them on the split, but that would be a challenge for an inexperienced trainfag like me.

Found after a while that it sucked all the enjoyment out of the game, a bit like when you use a god mode cheat on a game you were otherwise enjoying.

Same if I allow cheats on the MC game then teleport around everywhere instead of traveling place to place.

Is this some memey Fullmetal Alchemist mod I've missed? Can I sacrifice villagers and make Philosopher's stones?
>>
>>173000928
Yep. What I did was just leave the fuel to the Tender and add the lightest Tank Wagon. I also upgraded to a Forney. Haven't checked how the horsepower will fare yet.
>>
>>173001231
You know, for a mod that was supposed to be inspired by FMA, it did really little to replicate some of its concepts. Hell, I don't even know the relevant of Klein Stars, Red Matter, and Dark Matter (which are clearly tech concepts) to alchemy.

Imagine if you can mass produce fake Philosopher's Stones and use them to mutate creatures to do your bidding, or to make a real one by slaying thousands of humanoid mobs.
>>
>>173002016
I think there were plans to go towards a more FMA-ish approach in EE3, at least early on in 1.4.7 or 1.5.2. But just like everything related to EE3, it never came to fruition.

>>
>>173002016
Dumb. I remember there was something for Bukkit that was FMA inspired, transmuting shit, creating philosopher stones by sacrificing villagers, learning to transmute without a circle by giving up the power to make tools or something. Turning people into stones didn't work properly, but the rest of it was decent, if not terrible balanced. The stones were great once you had them.

Problem is project got abandoned and I've never seen anything like it since.

I wish there was a Christian-themed magic[/spoiler[ mod
>>
>>173003807
How would it work? Sounds interesting but honestly I dont know much about religion.
>>
>>173003932
Somewhat like Thaumcraft but with churches, classes like priest, exorcist, monk, each one with special abilities, traits and downsides. The monk would live forever in a monastery, but would have greater magic power than other classes.
>>
I just lost two Forneys, a Tender and a Tank Wagon due to mob intervention.

Are trains supposed to be this flimsy for a form of transportation? I mean, one of my Forneys were obliterated by a single arrow and a Creeper destroyed all of my wagons in a single blast.
>>
>>173004460
Oh, take note that I got MobGriefing on false too.
Anyway, a Forney with a Tender and a Tank Wagon can go as fast as 67 kph. Not bad. It still means I have to slow down on curves and transitions to Railcraft diagonal tracks.
>>
>>173004409
Early game must start with recreating the Cross of Constantine by building a gold cross and right-clicking it with a diamond at the intersecting point. This creates a functional Crucifix, which is used to craft some stuff. (Only five ingots are used to create a Crucifix; the remaining 40 are returned.)

Priests have innate Thorns, and can probably cause certain hostile mobs to stop attacking them or flee.
Exorcists can two-hit most undead mobs by whacking them with a Crucifix.
Monks can imbue positive potion effects on pieces of paper, allowing faster usage of potion buffs.

Quirk: Monks have to fight snails once in a while.
>>
>>173007057
That sounds great, I wish I wasn't so bad at Java
>>
>>173007057
Of course, who could forget Paladins?
They use Maces, Swords or Hammers to smite the undead. They have innate Smite II on any weapon they touch. Paladins also get some bitchin' armor to complement their crusading campaigns. Deus Vult.

My idea of how "infusing power" should work is by the amount of villagers near the mod's version of the crafting table. The more villagers, the more Faith. (It signifies how large congregations are the focus of Christian faith.) The player can "pray" by right-clicking on a functional Crucifix to generate Faith, but it's slower than the prayers of many humming Testificates.

At mid- and endgame, players get "superweapons" based on several Biblical concepts.

Priests can invoke New Testament powers like curing debuffs, giving a buff that immediately rezzes a player that received fatal damage, or disabling flight effects from an airborne mob or player.

Exorcists can, using a rather hefty procedure, to disable spawners so that they can be safely transported elsewhere. Repowering it, however, forces exorcists to darker forces that Paladins could consider heretical. All for the knowledge of defeating evil, I guess.

Monks can invoke Old Testament powers and parables. Multiplying 3 bread and 2 fish? Turning Bread and tasteless Water into better food choices? Turning mobs into pillars of salt? Locusts or unusable Water source blocks? They can do it with enough Faith.

Paladins get better armor and buffs based on undead kill streaks.

>In-game veganism is simply a playstyle that I prefer, in that I think survival games offer a unique way to explore vegan ethics that the real world doesn't provide. For example, attempting to adhere to veganism within Minecraft leads to weird/interesting questions like, "Is it really self-defense to kill a mob if I'm semi-responsible for mobs being able to spawn at all?". It can also encourage non-standard behavior like building a weapon that does the least amount of damage possible.

They made it impossible to survive if you get swarmed, and apparently you're supposed to try again and again and again to get better at it. My complaint is that they promoted this as some sort of dark souls and now they're making it easier because of those two idiots. I'd prefer for the pack to remain hard so that casuals won't like it. It's still minecraft, so it will never have good melee combat mechanics, but it's far from being hard - rolling trivializes a lot of it. Also

It is easier than you think.
>>

i just put a lever on it
>>

Yeah, but it won't start and stop automagicly.

Just hook the comparator to a not gate and then plug it into whatever the lever is connected to.

I actually prefer to plug it into the clock itself so the clock doesn't even tick until there is something to shoot.

You don't need the Agricraft-exclusive versions (which come from EnderIO Addons), the normal average everyday farming station will work just fine. Thaumcraft golems also do IIRC.

you should learn more java before stepping into it. but it all depends on what you mean by 'complicated'.
tile entities, GUIs and Containers? Pahimar, greyminecraftcoder, and Jabelar have good (if out-dated even for 1.7) tutorials. you can probably get away with learning java as you go, it isn't exactly complicated since it does memory management for you. inheritance is the most important topic you need to understand though.

if you mean integrating mod compatibility and working with APIs then good luck. I can't even get NEI to integrate into a dev environment, forget adding external mod functionality like adding Thaumcraft or Minetweaker support, or adding extra function via Immersive Engineering. I'm using specific examples of stuff I want to d,
but can't because there's just no information out there that's easy to get to, compounded by having no idea where to find the right people to ask that won't tell me to take a hike

Farming Stations, without upgrades, handles a 7x7 area. I won't recommend the use of upgrades, since your plot is divided by 3x3 plots and the Farming Station can only handle four seeds at a time compared to MFR Planters that can handle nine.

The only problem is that there are 9x9 plots in your farm.

>>173103342
I just like modding my games to have crossover content from other games that I like. New materials, weapons, armor sets, and so on. Basic stuff, which I've done in the past. However, by complicated, I was referring to having a block drop a random item from a drop table of items, or something to that effect. Basically slowly expand on the typical "more bloated ores and armor/tool sets" to things that are a little more unique, such as upgrade trees, a new workbench for upgrading gear, similar to tinker's and whatnot.

I should also mention that I'm the type to make stuff that I personally like for my own pleasure rather than releasing it. Hell, I've made mods for countless other games (even hex edited PS2 games to rebalance them to my liking) and just never released it. It's all for personal learning and fun.

Another thing, do the farming stations completely remove the plant, cropstick, seed, and all? or just harvest the mature plants?
>>
>>173104523
To be more direct, I want Monster Hunter stuff, damnit. I like the upgrade system for armor, like combining an item with armor to make it more durable, or with other materials to get a better gear piece.

It's easy enough to do something like that, but I may slowly want to explore with adding on to the concept with new workbenches or something, or potion effects. It's more of my endgame idea to slowly do more with it in my free time rather than to jump neck deep into it all.

>I can't even get NEI to integrate into a dev environment
You mean like just having NEI to use, or to code integration? The former is super easy - either drop the deobf jars together in \\<project>\libs and add them as external libraries or in \\<project>\eclipse\mods (if using eclipse, obviously) like a normal instance setup

>adding external mod functionality like adding Thaumcraft or Minetweaker support, or adding extra function via Immersive Engineering
Add deobf jars to \\<project>\libs and add them as external libraries, or APIs in your \\<project>\src\api folder and add that as a filepath
Then basically just "import package/API", and add the relevant methods
Witching Gadgets has MT and cross-mod support, so maybe look over some of that. Not saying it's amazing, just that it has it.

Traincraft has better-looking trains and rails, but has no signaling systems or any other rail control systems whatsoever. For that reason, Traincraft is often installed alongside Railcraft.

That said, don't ride trains if there are mobs nearby. I learned that the hard way. Even setting MobGriefing to false doesn't stop trains from getting destroyed by mobs.

Locking works that way? In any case, why just implement trains that cannot be harmed by mobs? These shits are made of more steel or iron than your typical minecart. It doesn't make sense that leaving them unlocked would instantly make them vulnerable to Creepers or Skeletons.

putting the 'dev' I have no idea how chikunman has this shit organized, like do I use src or dev what the birdman jars in a /libs folder, and adding as External Libraries in Idea just causes me to NPE on start.

so putting NEI's dev jars in eclipse/mods so its usable brings up this stupid fucking window which I've only ever found years-old posts on how to get it to work.

How do I get into huge RF generation?

I'm new to mods, and have been playing FTB direwolf. The draconic evolution mod caught my attention, and I've made a Sword of the Wyvern. To upgrade it to draconium though, I need to charge 4 blocks at 100M RF each, and will need to maintain the weapons with power, too.

I figure I'm overdue on learning about this, but it's pretty overwhelming as there's lots of mods that have some kind of power generation.

So, how does babby get into big RF generation? I have fuckloads of vanilla supplies (coal, redstone, gold, iron, etc) but not a lot of machines and stuff already. Basically I'm confused with which mod to start with and what 'path' to follow.

Honestly, this may be pleb tier, but this sounds perfect for me. but since I am a noob, I want to make some big overpowered shit and have a huge sink for my resources.
