to be fair I quite enjoyed getting Orlandu and absolutely shredding the current stage of content to bits, and I have some extra choice TMRs to farm. actually, getting Orlandu has me pumped for the next wave of stuff, especially dark ifrit/siren for that greatsword mastery he'll love to have. also, I really want to level up Minfilia/Y'shtola, so I'm looking forward to the next Cactuar Dunes or Enchanted Maze (the latter being something I glossed over the last two times)

She's actually quite a bit worse than orlandu pre-enhancements. Like, way way worse.

Her chaining move has only 5 hits, and its timing is fucked up. While orlandu hits every 7 frames (with one frame at 5), eileen hits every 15. This makes it difficult to land some finishers in with her, and her inability to cap a chain is measurable. She's just overall worse than him at first.

Add to this the fact that you NEED her own TM to do automatic earth damage, and you have a problem. Without it, you need to waste a turn applying earth element to your attacks first, which sucks.
Post enhancements she's arguably better because her imperil becomes -75%, even though her multiplier is still worse.
Her timing also gets fixed with enhancements.

Aigaion's instagib per turn or Blood Moon in general (100% physical resist, AoE instadeath trigger starting at Phase 2, sneeze attacks in general) are shit tier design.

It isn't suprising that they've upped the lapis story rewards from 30 to 60 or 50 to 100 again and giving out 5k lapis over the next 14 days. Player numbers are most likely dropping due to all this bullshit. The latest trial rewards haven't been very good, either.

Yeah, I'll admit that she's worse than Orlandeau before enhancements hits but she does have access to a large variety of equips that only she and Onion Knight who comes later shares meaning she can do element chains with nearly anybody though Earth is preferable due to her innate imperil for that. Once Aigaion drops, she will want his arm as her first slot weapon assuming you have Dual Wield to give to her. Only Onion Knight, Prishe, Gilgamesh, and Firion are the only other ones who can wield the arm without needing the equip fist materia.

Chaining isn't just about equips, it's about timing. Nobody else in the game hits every 15 frames, and no other serious chainster hits only 5 times. She's not locked just by her imperil, but by practicality.
After enhancements, she's still the only unit in the game with an 8 frame delay other than ruggles, gouken, and yuri (who all suck for obvious reasons)
She can only chain earth, and only with other eileens. But that's not necessarily a fatal flaw.

Which is blatantly false. She can do element chains with herself, and nobody in their right mind is going to run anything but her TM. So you're chaining earth, and you're chaining earth with another eileen.

She's not bad, and in many respects enhanced eileen outdamages enhanced orlandu (the 75% imperil is really what tears it, plus machine killer).
Also, many units can chain well with others, despite gumi's claims. Orlandu chains with rikku and a bunch of others, as does Tidus.

Eileen has exceptionally incompatible timings, a problem shared only between her and OK.

I said that she can do other elements but who in their right minds would let her do anything other than Earth given her innate imperil for that not to mention her Artisan which triggers not only her personal Spear Mastery from enhacements but also has earth. Unless you face a boss that is immune to earth damage and she's your only god option then it might be okay to give her other elements so long as you remember to give her a spear for that extra 50% ATK.

And that timing issue might be the only thing that balances her out with the other chainers who lack such a problem other than OK.

But you're right, you'd have to be crazy to use another element besides earth on her. The 75% imperil is the only thing that puts her above Orlandu, when it comes to chaining with an element outside the main one, he would easily beat her without it. His multipliers are still better.

And the timing doesn't really affect her outside of clutch situations where your friend dies and you only have rikku left to finish off the boss.
So 99% of the time you wouldn't notice.
She's fantastic, and she's easily the best damager in the game right now.
But don't stretch her too thin. She's not versatile, just very good at her one niche.
