Eh, I don't see it like that. A game has something it tries to accomplish. It can be whatever. Then you can have additional things on top of that which might work or don't.
In case of God Eater, I don't think the story is what it tries to accomplish. It's the fast paced monster hunting. Characters, story, even OST are just something on top of that which I enjoy. If yo take those away, I would still enjoy the game.

Opposite can be true as well. I didn't particuraly enjoy the combat system of Ar Nosurge, but I enjoyed everything else. Didn't bring down my enjoyment of the game at all because it wasn't something it tried to focus on.

But why would you willingly make yourself go trough something you don't enjoy? Even if you payed for it? You wouldn't pay to get yourself tortured.

As an example I can give Tales of Graces f. I've played it like 4 times and I just usually skip all cutscenes. They aren't worth it. I'll be doing my 5th run after I finish Berseria and sure as hell I'll be skipping all the cutscenes.

So in short, just focus on the aspects that are good in a game.

So, now that I'm fully done with Demon Gaze, I want to rant a bit. First of all, don't get me wrong, I liked the game, but I still don't understand the point of NG+ if NG+ is identical to the first run of the game, only harder. After the game hints at it not being so, I half expected it to have some special rewards, but nothing. What was even the point of going against that last demon, except the challenge?
Also, fuck the last quest from Fran, for a kinda good weapon, you have to lose forever what amounts to half of the best gear in that game. Isn't that kinda unfair to the player?

NG+ with stronger enemies is just something that the Japanese RPGs do. Some people do play them multiple times and like it, so they just sometimes add it in for the players. Some people do request for it.

For example, one reviewer for Blue Reflection mentioned that NG+ might be nice due to its growth mechanics. I also often see drpg players playing through multiple times with different party compositions, and they like to challenge the limits with increasingly harder enemies.

I guess it works (the enemies in Demon Gaze do get stronger in NG+, while also giving a lot more experience), but one problem with that is that
1)Demon Gaze already has 4 difficulty settings
2)You pretty much hit gear cap by the first endgame
3)You pretty much hit stat cap for important stats (like vitality/speed/attack stat) for characters by first endgame)
so more levelups are just more hp/mp at that point really. It's also a game that features unique gear which you can't drop twice EVER, so you can't even say, get two of some powerful item.

As for Elminage, I think it doesn't actually get harder, but in the second (and subsequent) runs of the game, you get a boost to rare item drop rates that make restarting the game worth it. Also you get the archivist wand on reaching endgame the second time if you didn't use any fame during the game (not sure if you can also do it on a fresh game, actually, but it's a possibility), which is a weapon that gets boosted if you use fame on it, and is potentially the strongest weapon in the game.

Speaking of which, is it even possible to get all of Fran's gear again in NG+ if you give it to her in the first run of the game? Because seriously, while the reward is kinda nice, her items are just so much better.

Speaking of games where subsequent NG+ get harder and harder, one of the least known examples, and probably the oldest one, is Parasite Eve. Ironically I still haven't hit NG+ in Elminage, since I want to make a summoner to finish all my unfinished quests first and I didn't feel like doing it yet. Right now I'm still hunting for alchemy materials, and today I hit the jackpot since I found a 50 AP +2 Elvish Iron (and 50 AP materials are FUCKING RARE AS FUCK, this is my second one in hundreds of them), and immediately used it to boost my Death Spear damage. Now my (loli dragonewt) Fighter can do even more astronomically high damage to Gods. It's fun what you can do with a 37-40 damage weapon if you just stack multipliers.

Man, I can't get it to work. Someone had also this same problem and asked about it on twitter, I guess I'll ask from that person if he got it working. If not, my theory is that they haven't actually updated western version so there's nothing to unlock. You can always turn down the music. Works for voice acting as well. I played both Persona 3 and Persona 4 with voice acting turned off. I wish more games would adopt the VN approach and give individual sliders for all voices. That way I can minmax my enjoyment of the game better.

That's a gross exaggeration, the first game had pretty strong writing, and although it had some gameplay flaws, it was still better than CH's previous game by comparison, so I enjoyed very much the improved gameplay. I played it completion twice, actually. Second game isn't bad at all, although some parts might have been a bit trauma-inducing. Third game was so good the remakes of the first two basically use its battle system.
