Odin Sphere Leifthrasir has the most refined mechanics.

Muramasa has the advantage of being relatively short and comparatively simple.

Maybe I should have clarified; I meant as a starting point it's perfectly fine, better than RB1 if you can handle it. Should I pull the trigger? I have 20.05$ in my PSN Wallet right now and the 20% off voucher expires today. To be honest I liked the story in the original a bit more. I mean at that point, it was making fun of console wars and the industry, nowadays, half of the jokes seem to be making fun of its own series.
Also, believe it or not, the gameplay of HDN felt like a big improvement, because I played it right after pic related, and it was basically the same but better and without the most annoying exploration mechanics.

Combat was okayish, it was the dungeons mechanics that were mind-boggling, while in theory the most unique part of the game. The game design of that game was very contrarian. Also postgame economy was broken as heck, you could make infinite money/exchange points easily, made you able to buy directly weapons you'd need to trade dozens of materials for, and stat ups were cheap as heck. I had made Tsubaki a monster that could oneshot anything.

why would they do this?

It's not a Disgaea game, and the thing is there's this exchange shop in postgame, where you can trade items for points to get other items.
There's an exploit (some items that costs little normal money, and exchange for many points, and some others exchanged for few points, but that sell for a lot of money) that allow you to basically have infinite money and points. Which gives you instant access to the best weapons/armors, which would normally need drops from several different dungeons to get. Also, stat+ items cost literally 2 exchange points, which is almost nothing, for whatever reason, which means that once you get there you can buff yourself as much as you want just by buying and using them over and over and over.
But since there's very little left to do, it's also kinda pointless (however, you can bring items to NG+, which means you can bring all the weapons and armos and a stack of 99 of those items with you, plus whatever else you want).

PS2s are a dime a dozen, you can turn a regular memory card into a sodderless mod chip, and you can probably get everything set up for less than it would cost to buy P4 on vita, and get to play a superior game from the same general time frame with similar setups.

And that if you are only interested in Vita games there are much better options too.P4 just isn't worth it, especially if you already know who the killer is.

Honestly, I think the game is average as a JRPG. It's also rather lengthy, so the quality of the game doesn't really carry it. I found that after I played through it twice, getting the good ending the second time, I had no desire to play it again. Every subsequent playthrough resulted in me quitting at some point out of boredom.

Shinobido 2 is a pretty good mission based stealth game with ninjas.
Muramasa Rebirth is a 2d slash'em up with ninjas.
Touch My Katamari is, uh, a Katamari game it panders to the weirder side of Weeb culture, I guess.
Deception IV has cute demon girls doing cute demon things (like using traps to get their enemies naked and kill them).
