i cant decide between either admin (all the normal reason plus i got an event to increase my loan amount and the interest is killer), religious (dues vult to vasal and pu feed), expansion (colonist), or diplomatic (more subjects, easier pus). i don't need any military ideas, since mine is already strongest in the world by nearly double.

Half the time it's bullshit dogpiling.
If there are a lot of players then it's a grueling slog where everyone is afraid to be aggressive because they'll become the target of a huge coalition. If there are too few players it might as well be single player.

If you play for score then it's bullshit arbitrary bordergore for the sake of ebin points. If you don't play for score then there's no real point and you might as well play single player.

If everyone plays majors then the world looks like Man in the High Castle by 1600. If everyone plays minors then the world looks like Man in the High Castle by 1700. If some people play minors and others play majors, the majors steamroll everything.

If the players are competing it has the unfun problems listed above. If it's just co-op then its' even easier than single player so there's no point.

EU4 is not designed to have multiple human players.

I've played Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg and Mazovia as Emperors. Austria is the best. By the time you get the ball rolling with the Empire as anyone but Austria it's been cucked hard.

Oh to add to this point the biggest bottleneck of replayabbilty to grand strat is the amount of fun nations to play. Play it long enough and youve played every nation and done all the goals. So why is it modders seem to always fail at making alt history mods that are actually fun? Like KR is by and far the best of them but all the others ive played I did one or two games then got bored. I think maybe the first step for a modder is to simply build the world and not focus on bloat features like everyone of them seem to do. Scotland can't throw its weight around as much as austria can once they have gained that powerbloc. "relative strength of alliance" is a huge modifier that austria can abuse to gain control of the HRE. Something scotland has a lot less use for. How do you manage multiple empires in CK2?
I've become emperor of Francia multiple times before and it seems very manageable but it seems like the type of problem that can very quickly get out of hand.

For instance if half of your empire joins a faction and you suddenly have 20,000 troops take arms against you then at that point you have to raise vassal levies and pray that you can form an army before they form theirs.

You stabilize and spread your dynasty to all the lower titles before that.

I like to think of it as entropy cycles - you expand, introducing a spike in entropy (uncontrollable disorder) in your system. Therefor, you must stop expanding and stabilize everything by reducing entropy in the system (i.e "ordering" it), and then expand, and so on. Think of controlled contraction -> expansion -> controlled contraction -> expansion

I usually have half my vassals imprisoned from their revolts by the time I'm about to die and pass the realm to a heir, which limits their ability to act, or basically greatly reduces potential entropy in the realm. I will then proceed to slowly release them and redistribute titles throughout my gameplay as the heir, turning 90% of them into 20+ opinion loyal vassals, half of which my dynasty. And you must keep repeating that forever, at maximum efficiency, or you WILL get fucked by a revolt if you go above 300 realm size. I'd say that that's basically the meta of CK2

That's pretty much two thirds of all my direct vassals, completely unable to do anything because they're locked up. You just let them sit like that and gradually release them one by one throughout the next 30 years. If someone's too assblasted and has a -100 opinion towards you, just revoke his duchy and place a family member there. Why family? Because you can sign free NAPs with them after succession

Also an additional trick - get Free Investiture at all costs and appoint all your commanders or valuable characters to the bishops' heirs. Then proceed to dump duchies and counties into them and do stuff like pic related - you'd be basically in a direct control of vassal inheritance. Plurality = how much they want social reforms and democracy, how much your pops want representation. High plurality + autocracy = high militancy. High plurality in a liberal democracy might have no ill effects though.

Consciousness = How much your pops desire to fulfill their interests and how much they care about their voice being heard in government. Passing reforms can placate pops and lower their consciousness if it's pertinent to their interest.

If your pops have high plurality and consciousness you're eventually going to either get a more liberal government, or revolts.
