Patches would be a good paladin if it weren't for the fact that paladins are filthy clerics

Played through the dlc first time on my mage. Ended up not using spells at all on midir and changed my crystal longsword to sharp and used cmw. At least I learned how to fight it after dying 20 times

Why is Dark Blade a miracle?

It is completely useless, (25 faith), you might as well save 10 points and get Blessed Weapon with a better AR or just use five more points and get Darkmoon Blade for a superior buff AR.

Not to mention I think it would be more fitting being a Pyromancy instead, and maybe drop the faith requirement to 20 (or buff the AR scaling). Think it would also fit better in the Black Flame stuff in Pyromancies rather than the holy stuff in Miracles. Its totally useless as of right now imho, pyromancy could use another choice for buffs.

Gael's Greatsword seems to have some funky unmentioned damage properties.

Genuinely struggling to comprehend this. It's about the fairest duo boss i've ever seen in this series. They glow to warn you if they're aggro or not. If both are glowing and you go in I feel like you're asking to get destroyed, but you can just kite for like 10 seconds and one will go passive again and you can continue. The mechanics of the fight even help you make sure you take them both down in quick succession since it gives you the chance to safely swap targets.

One thing I think people are forgetting is the angels were NOT a big part of the base game at all. We see the butterflies during the dragonslayer armour fight and the Gertrude items mention seeing angels but thats about it. Everything beyond that was assumptions the community made, just like velka. She was there in descriptions but we never really got any reason to believe she'd be a big bad or make a major appearance or that she'd be anything other than a background lore character.

I'd have loved to find out more about angels or velka too but the games really didn't hype them up that much, we did that ourselves.

The first one popped up, gave Gertud the heavenly miracle then immediately got killed, sparking a civil war that branded them as Herertical (since humans are not supposed to gain the power of the divine). The later ones could only mature in the Dreg heap after the whole of Lothric has collapsed into it.

I've been toying with the idea of a caster with lots of sustain and slow damage over time effects like poison
how good is pestilent mercury, it got trashed during release and was buffed of some sorts?
would that kind of sorcery even scale with more int, better staffs or rings or am I better off using faster cast time and HP/FP regen stuff

Yeah I've done a caster, they absolutely annihilate almost every boss and unless you kill every single enemy in the level and/or are autistic enough to clear it start to finish in one go you can annihilate the mobs with magic too. Just clear certain areas, then hit the bonfire and sprint back to where you were to resupply estus. Magic is easy because you deal so much damage from a safe distance.
