It's possible to enjoy the Gael fight and dislike it at the same time
Mechanically he's fun as fuck, zipping around the place and throwing curse shit at you with his cape
Thematically he's completely lame, in my opinion at least. He's got no presence in the DLC, aside from being a summon in the first half of the DLC and pointing out non lethal falls. I understand he was looking for the dark soul to complete the painting, but the leadup to the fight was so brief it was fucking laughable.

He may not be the last boss in the game thematically but he's the last boss of the last bit of souls content for a long time - and it's a bizarre note to end on, fighting a red hooded guy who was barely introduced in the previous DLC and has very little characterisation, in a DLC that was slated to tie up several story ends and provide a satisfactory end to the series.

Not him but I was SL100 because my build was min/maxed for that SL, and I saw no reason to level up further since everything higher than that for PvP or PvE would've just been HP/Stamina/FP bloat for me.

So I kept around SL100 until I finished Midir, then level up to 120 for the PvP since I figured I'd get a better range. Thus far it has been pretty great, mostly 1v1s with only a few 3v1s or 4v1s, and some fun 2v1s.

I've been caught by the charge a few times because it hits you whilst behind him, you would at least expect a sound cue since, you know, you can't actually see the rest of his body most of the time.

Honestly if they literally just removed giant seed and did nothing else, it would solve a lot. There is fuck all in terms of Londor in this DLC besides that, but we do know that the Ringed City is old as fuck and not actually standing anymore, and it only lives on with the dark soul at the end of time. There's not enough to be sure about it at all which is why I said "might". I bet if this DLC was finished we would've been able to go inside that chapel at some point.

You meet an old/dying Primordial Serpent and he explains the nature of the Dark Sign and tells you what will happen after this is all over. He also makes vague suggestions that tie up other loose plot points like Drangleic, Velka, and so on, which aren't truly conclusive but throw a bone to the people wanting answers on those.

You then fight something that seems to be the Dark Soul, or something that resembles the Furtive Pygmy from original from the DS1 cutscene. He fights like a human but has a variety of attacks that suggest something more. It's a fair, balanced fight that is not too tough or too easy and has lots of variety, just like Soul Of Cinder. He has some cool mechanic never seen before since DeS, e.g. he can delevel you with some of his attacks.

You beat him, get a short cutscene that makes it clear the Dark Souls series is over but that it's all just a cycle and the future holds more potential (suggesting a continuation of the series, not in Lordran)

And that's it.

You get to fight something and the series gives you a rare treat of clear explanations for sticking with it to the end. Obvious but that's what people want.

What I WOULDN'T do is leave a bunch of questions completely unanswered and have you fight a literal who from your rushed DLC you released before.

It's definitely not Londor when we go through it's an Age of the Gods city that would predate it by a lot. But over the course of the normal timeline where it wouldn't stay intact (and we know it doesn't since the ruins are in DS3 before the game starts) it could become the Sable Church, as its ruins have this single prominent element of it, and the ruins are from DS3's time period. The pygmies are also roughly pilgrim shaped but that's pushing it.

Ringed Knight Straight Sword isn't that great and you can get backstabbed during the weapon art.

Ledo's Great Hammer is a great hammer without perseverance.

Crucifix of the Mad King has a legitimate stunlock.

Giant Door Shield makes you take no damage when attacking with it and the weapon skill. I've only lost to shield piercing weapons with it.

Lothric War Banner is a spear that can get 800 AR if you infuse it with crystal, dark, chaos or lightning and use the buff.

Old Moonlight has incredible AoE with Immolation Tinder.
