So I'm really making the game. The map is already done. How do you want the provinces?

I planned to make them like in TW, but what happens when they are sieged? I have 2 ideas.

1. The siege is a large battlefield with defensive buildings for the besieged.

2. If the enemy marches into the city, it is insta-conquered. Only way to prevent this is to have a friendly army cover it in its' zone of control.

The first option is similar to TW games and would require more work. The second is more similar to Paradox style and easier to implement.

How do I increase my naval range, other than those shitty techs in the naval science tree?
I know I don't have the techs for colonization right now, but I want to be ready when I do so I can snatch up pacific islands before the Euros get them all.

Normally I don't have to worry about this shit because I I'm playing in Europe and have plenty of opportunities to conquer an unciv and get a foothold in Africa or wherever.
From this position I can't see any good provinces to conquer to put colonies in range though. There's Galapagos, but it seems stupid to make an entire acquire state CB for a worthless and unpopulated island, and there's Hawaii, which the US has already sphered, putting it out of my reach.

I gave up on trying to take a treaty port from Japan because the US kept white peacing out of their war with the Shogun every time I tried to get in on the action.

Also does anyone know whether there is still an event in HPM to make Yucatan join the FRCA if it becomes independent? I looked in the the mod files and found the event for Panama, which already happened for me in any case, but I didn't see one for Yucatan anywhere.

First Venetian War take Treviso (to deny Venice a fort on a hill), make Venice give the Brescia Core to Milan (to keep your AE low and get Brescia back in the Empire) and take another province of your choosing (Dalmatia is good because you can core, add to the Empire and release as Croatia). Save the other provinces for the second Venetian war.

I think Friuli costs a lot because it's medium development and Aquileia is a city state you can add to the Empire.

Previously I've tried:

If you are a small country, only recruit non-infantry units, mostly Artillery. Then attach your mobilizations to stacks of artillery to make balanced armies.
If you are a huge power that doesn't really need to mobilize, just keep your mobilizations away from the action, sieging provinces behind your front lines for example.

Stacks of mobilized infantry are just cannon fodder to an actual army and unless you want to genocide your own citizens, destroy your industry, and bankrupt your capitalists, you should either keep them out of the fray or attach them into properly balanced armies that can defend themselves.

When this happens claim throne and declare war. This means you are now fighting Venice and Bohemia. Let Hungary handle Venice while you nuke Silesia and Bohemia. If Bohemia allied Poland restart. If Venice or Rome have allied France restart. If Hungary are not in the war with Venice then git gud.

Put some spare diplo points into the gold mine in Tirol so you can afford two max-width armies with 4 cav each. You only need 8 cav (4 on each stack) so delete the 3 spare to save shekels and turn those saved shekels into a few more infantry.

When Hungary's heir turns 10, break alliance (this is why the war with Venice should be over by now). Remember that in 5 years you are either going to be claiming the throne of Hungary through war or you are going to get it for free. Once you have Bohemia and Hungary as slaves you are now the 3rd ranked Great Power and this answers all your other questions: Austria, Bohemia and Hungary can keep the Empire in line and take Italy with ease.

Take diplomatic or influence as your first idea group. They both have really good advantages for an Emperor. Diplomacy gets you more relations with Electors but Influence gets you 24 stack armies from Bohemia and Hungary rather than 10 stacks.

Well that was fast. After swiftly conquering the vietnamese with help from soldiers imported from the Philippine colonies, King Alfonso decided to attack the Chinese, glorified from his success and the fact the Chinese were currently fighting a war with the Russians and surely could not split their forces. However, he declared war before the main Armada arrived from Spain, with only a few clippers in the south china sea - the Chinese fleet destroyed them quickly, assuring the first half the war would be fought on land.
The war did not go as well as expected, with tens of thousands of spanish lives needlessly lost. However, after 6 months and our brilliant general saving many spanish soldiers and cutting down all chinese ones in his path, Peking sued for peace. We claimed for ourselves the island of Hainan, and our income is through the roof.

The King is unsure of where to go from here, apart from being a sneaky jew and financing wars, and is open to suggestions.

I wanna get back into EUIV but in order to be up to date i'd need almost $60 worth of dlc. And yet they're still charging $40 just for the base game. How do people defend this business model. All the expansions for EU3 made sweeping changes and updates to the core game the bullet point list for some of the EUIV expansions looks like the changelog for a patch. So how vital is Mare Nostrum, The Cossacks, and Rights of Man for my EUIV experience?

If the answer is yes you can survive as Jerusalem in CK2. Abbassids/Fatimids/Seljuks/Tulunids should be your only concern ever so long as you don't marry daughters off to future kings/emperors.

Make note that the computer doesn't understand holy orders exist exactly and that mountain terrain provinces exist within the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

CK2 is more about getting around 10,000 troops in one stack so you can assault castles over and over again until you can force the enemy to surrender. I've done that against Francia countless times. Before the Karlings have a chance to rally their soldiers they've lost 12 full counties and have no choice but to surrender.
