How is the xcom board game?

I like how the DLC missions keep popping up if you ignore them. Will they all disappear if I do Last Gift once? I wanted to save them for when I researched predator armor and laser weapons, so now would be the best time.

guys, sparks are so fucking unbelievably good in long war.

it provides high cover. it has shitton of ablative hp. it can have 7 armor. it can provide complete immunity to everyone in a radius of smoke cloud. throw a smoke and aid protocol on it and it becomes an unshootable fucking tank. it's a godsend against alien reaction fire.

do lost towers as soon as it pops up.

Is there some way to disable the faceless spy thing in my haven, maybe through a mod or the .ini? I'm 3 months in and even with putting my highest ranking dude as the haven advisor I still haven't found the spy. I haven't got a single supply drop and have been in the red since the end of the first month.

I like the mechanic but if I'm taking one of my highest ranking soldiers out to put them in haven limbo I at least would like him to find the spy within a reasonable time. Not 3+ fucking months

I don't think you can remove existing faceless, just stop more from spawning.

What you might be able to do is change the faceless penalty though. Try the following (after backing up the .ini file in case you want to rollback if this breaks something.)

FACELESS_SUPPLY_DRAIN=20f ; Percent of supplies drained from the monthly supply in this haven per faceless, factoring number of days active.

Set this to 0f.

Then find these 3 near the bottom, same file:

IncomePerRebel=1.0f
IncomePenaltyPerFaceless=1.5f

[Recruit LWRebelJobTemplate]
IncomePerRebel=3
IncomePenaltyPerFaceless=5

[Intel LWRebelJobTemplate]

IncomePenaltyPerFaceless=2.5f
ResourceIncomeAmount=1

And replace the income penalty per faceless to be the negative value of the rebel, so for supplies you'd get:
[Resupply LWRebelJobTemplate]
IncomePerRebel=1.0f
IncomePenaltyPerFaceless=-1.0f

Note the minus. Negative penalty, meaning a boost. So your faceless are still there, but they do the exact same thing as a regular rebel if you do this for all 3.

Finally I'd also edit these to 0.00:

You might need to start a new month for these to take place since supplies and stuff seem to tick up daily. I'd save right before a new month rolls around, try the edits and see what your projected supplies for the end of the month are like.

Anyone else using Ashlynne's LW2 alien pack? The flame viper's (why wasn't it named salamander? such a missed opportunity) inferno rifle seems to have a 100% chance to hit regardless of cover. Which means anything it hits is almost guaranteed to die since that's average of 6 damage + burning. You have to kill one before it has a chance to attack or you're fucked, but I don't want to get rid of the pack since the other two aliens it adds are pretty neat and not ridiculously strong.

Incidentally, Covering Fire Rapid Reaction Rangers with Tracer Rounds, Advanced Auto-Loaders and Advanced Hair Triggers will get off four shots per turn. Two can kill entire pods. I have one with Shredder as an AWC perk and he wrecks.

They aren't quite Gunners, but I've never been able to reliably use Gunners.

Some Sidewinders will skip out and flank them or just plain up shoot them through high cover or the enemies won't clump up nicely or a naga will flank and blast them and then every motherfucker they suppress are coming right at their face. I think even with elite advanced magazines they can only get off about five shots anyway before they run dry.

And nagas and sidewinders show up in minimum pods of three later on, you need rangers or shinobi or assaults around to take them on.

My Rangers will straight up shoot any motherfucker shooting them in the face, and I get to take a shot at a motherfucker at them during my turn. That averages out to two shots per phase, including the enemy phase, or four per turn. Not to mention that with Ever Vigilant you can set up flank overwatches easily.

I've heard of high-cover smoke camping with Gunners but it still seems a tad too situational, especially with the challenge map PCPs I use.

Then again, I haven't invested in the mid-Perk exclusive Gunner yet. She seems like an Assault that commits to one target... hmmm, Rapid Firing enemies that you close with... though not quite as reliable as an Assault at point blank. I might spec one and see what happens.

From Google:

Navigate to your Steam Workshop folder location (usually under "Steamapps/workshop/content/#######") or some random number assisgned to a game.

Copy all of the the folders inside that contain the mods (each mod folder will also be randomly named).

Paste them into a created mod folder inside your Xcom 2 game directory (i.e. "X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods")

Run the Xcom Launcher and re-enable all of the mod

I never played the Long War mod in the original. I like the sound of a longer campaign mode, but I don't really enjoy that it sounds like they turned the game into a meat grinder game. I don't like losing soldiers every mission or to the damn turn timer. That being said, should I bother with Long War then?

If not Long War, are there any other good mods that are recommended?

Are there going to be any more official DLC added to the game? I feel like Shen's gift and the Alien Hunters stuff was really a let down compared to Xcom Enemy Within. Or has 2k moved on from this game?

Conceal isn't THAT good, the shinobi can just fuck off and scout anyways with phantom and especially with ghostwalker. They only get revealed due to sloppiness or needing them to shoot/sword. Conceal gives you one freebie shadowstrike (once you get it) for an engagement, before going back to stealthing.

Well, it should be possible but i honestly have no idea how it works. You know how these Warden Gear armor pieces only show if you are equipping the warden armor? Well, i have no idea why that's happening, i didn't do anything, it just happened.

But now that i think about it, i'm also unsure if that applies to helmets, since helmets even the Firaxis ones are always available regardless of if you're using their armor equivalent, like, powered helmets show up from the moment you unlock warden armor and you can use them on soldiers that aren't using warden armor, if i remember correctly.

Well, I did it. The Gunner, Infantry and SHIV were the only survivors. Poor Infantry almost bled out too.

The fucking haul I got from the supply ship was insane, though. Completely worth the trouble in the end.

It's a 10% band, so you always have a chance of grazing until 110 to hit. It can turn misses into grazes and works on advent shots as well.

You can turn it off or reduce it in the settings (or increase it...)

I have it, have played it with 2, 3 and 4 people, it's pretty good with all combos although 3 people with 4 roles means one guy doubles up (usually central officer/commander.) Can be played with one too. Honestly, I get a fair bit of use out of it. Decent game.

That can happen, a lot. The Assault Carrier/Battleship map has two variants that you can play so the real question is if you had to do the exact same objectives of disabling the power cores and if the pre-activated Cyberdisc was there as well. That would be unusual.

In every Xcom2 campaign I play, Lw2 or vanilla, I always get one character that's just an unkillable murder machine.

In my current playthrough, it's a grenadier with a shotgun that got the title "Bossman". He just blundered into a pod of Muton Asspounders and an Andromedon mecha-rapist, dodged all their attacks and with one frag grenade, blew out the floor and sent the lot of them into a three floor drop into a raging inferno left by the rest of the team in the last pod fight. Fuck this guys awesome. Last campaign it was a fucking support that could one shot crit anything and had 240 hacking by the end because every hack job got him a permanent 20 boost.

You can have whole campaigns with little or no real interaction with the Battleships so no surprises you haven't see that one. I did overstay in a EW campaign in order to farm for MELD for some achievement (The "Have a MEC of every type!" one) so ended fighting multiple Battleships over time and saw that 2-map 'rotation' happening. Fighting 3 Sectopods at once in the Fusion Cores rooms can be surprisingly difficult. Even for EW.
