A 5% score penalty will now be applied to users caught drop-hacking from multiplayer battles (disconnecting under suspicious circumstances).

Because diplomacy never worked well in Total War games before, and its better to have a battle focused game with as little diplomatic annoyances as possible. Most of the time the diplomacy system in TW games just screws you since it isn't as extensive as in Paradox games, and even there the diplomacy system tends to screw you badly.

So i just beat 4 campaigns in row in Warhammer and i think i want to have a break.
I tried to play Medieval 2 but i am probably burn out after all those campaigns i played in it (both in vanilla and various mods).

I have both Napoleon and Empire and i want to play something in that era, but i played Empire only for a while and Napoleon only on multi with friends. Any mod recommendations for them? Is there any mod for Napoleon to turn it into big scope game like in Empire? Or anything else worth downloading? Which one should i play? As who? Any roll charts?

AI does that sometimes. Its in fact abuseable.

The AI obviously has a threat meter when it comes to ranged, as well as a benefit meter for staying in advantageous locations.

Sometimes if you only run up a single ranged unit into range, the AI wont feel threatened enough to move from their advantageous position, so they'll just take the pounding. Then you can cycle that unit out and put in a new one and rinse and repeat.

You have to be a real idiot to think CA are going to ignore any of the factions. Skipping a few units here and there is a cost/benefit for them, but skipping a whole rulebook faction is literally just lost money.

Forest Dragons are already pretty good, bad against anti large but can take on pretty much anything else well.

These dragons, particularly the star dragons, are a huge step up from that. CA cant get around it, they will have to be ultra powerful.

Or you can just mod it yourself after all, unit stat changes is easy.

I don't know of any links and I'm too lazy to look them up right now but they've already said Warhammer is going to be a trilogy of games (that will be standalone but merge together to for to make a mega grand campaign.) covering all the tabletop factions from 8th edition.

So yes they're coming it's just a matter of time.

If things go as people are speculating then sadly Ogre Kingdoms will probably be on the butt end of the list but they will happen.

They were fuckign awesome, and they actually worked well enough with both small ships and large lines of battle.

Shogun 2 was a clusterfuck, FotS was a worse clusterfuck and Rome 2 was so generally awful that the hopeless idiocy of transport ships being the better warships in most cases doesn't even stick out all that much.


But you really don't have to look far to see a working naval combat system. Battlefleet Gothic shows that it can be done witha GW IP, too.

It's just that GW sold Dreadfleet/Man'o'War to somebody else.

Balance is a hit or miss. Some units have been rightfully buffed, many have been retooled to act like they do in lore like Grail knights being just in a small group and so on.

It's worth a playthrough once or twice if you've gotten tired of vanilla. Vamps are insanely overpowered in it however.

You're thinking specifically of Man O War, which was cool as fuck but is a licence that CA don't have. Not sure what the legality of it all is, precisely, but I don't think CA would be allowed to use the names and designs of the ships that existed within that game.

So either they have to acquire that licence or they acquire GW's blessing to design ships of their own.

Now since GW let them create some new units for Bretonnia, it's possible that they've been busy making new naval units - and hopefully, if that's the case, they haven't been copy-pasting too hard.

You're forgetting about the dark elves and their raids on the northen coasts of the empire, plus if and when CA adds the southern factions they will have significant uses for a navy due to at least one of them, estalia, having overseas colonies. I think the empire also has overseas colonies too, and the the fighting between the High and Dark elves includes no small amount of fleet actions.

I just finished a campaign (well almost) with Vlad/Izzy with SFO and I can say that they are quite balanced. They are overpowered, sure, but it seems the AI recruits the proper units and we are able to get a good battle going on. Some stronger units made to have less creatures, and higher upkeep, so in the end you still need to bring lower tier units and they are still shit, so you need to strategize further.

What I do not get, however, and I don't know if this is also in vanilla or not, is how to win a battle when you are outnumbered or have the balance of power stacked against you.

It seems like the battle will favor the AI so much if the balance of power is against you, even when you place the right unit to counter theirs, the battle performance will be put against you for whatever reason, and thats why i kind of give up on my campaign.

Case in point, chaos hordes poured in. I attacked them first since they camped in my territory and raided me, but they were already at war with empire. At every opportunity, they always gun for me with the 4 stacks of doom.

I have vlad and izzy fight them with lightning strike, but even when i have the right units to counter them (monster vs. anti large, cavs vs axe infantry), it seems they are still losing badly (losing decisively, or combat even), when clearly they should win out. Not sure if this is an issue with the vanilla or not.

Can't even wonder how to get heroic win without cheesing the enemy AI.

I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the vanilla game as well honestly. I've gotten so many phyrric and close victories even in battles where I fucking thrashed the enemy good and hard that it honestly makes me wonder how this shit is calculated.

You just answered your own question pic related is one of my two heroic victories in this game and I did it by using my missile cavalry to draw off some of the VC's flying units and kite them to death, followed up by very careful micromanagement of my foot missile units. To this day I've never been able to repeat this trick.

In 40k you've got endless Imperium that can lose hundreds of planets and billions of people without blinking an eye, space marine bullshit is roughly strong enough to fight all other bullshit. Lizard lore came after Elf lore, and Elves make better magic ubermensch than literal reptiles.

In the original lore Lizardmen were a savage race that warred with the frog-slaan, there only similarity being they were both in Lustria, with Lizards serving as the Orcs of Lustria.

Elven Ggods seem to play a much larger role in the creation and spiritual meta realm, while Slaan had a big past role in the physical world, which they lost to Chaos. Elven gods have some hope in the spiritual war against Chaos.

Ok, I just loaded up a legendary campaign just for you. Turn 1, walk to eastern border near the bitterstone mine, recruit 3 savage orcs. They send their stack over on march, beat them next turn, capture the town, get 3 more savage orcs. Next turn walk to the south, get 3 more savage orcs. Next turn take the town. Then go for the port. It's a matter of luck whether you can make it time before greenskins confederate the scabby eye, but it's not like it takes long to replay, you can just autoresolve through all of that.

In Fantasy a town is burned down by rapegoats, and ten thousand people die. In 40k the equivalent is a planet being overrun and tens of billions of people die. That is a entire planet worth of culture, ideas, families, stories and so on. 40k is infinitely more grimdark due to the sheer scale, and it has plenty of disturbing things like Daemoncluba or whatever it was called.

What is the most annoying small thing for you personally in the new Total War games?

For me it's the fact that ranged fighters don't really aim their weapon anymore. In medieval the archers really aimed their bow up or down depending on the firing arc. In Rome II and Attila it's the worst because archers always aim horizontally. In warhams the arc is set too but at least it look better than in Rome II.

There's no animation for pushing siege equipment around in Warhammer. It really bothers me, especially since the crew is just walking slowly alongside it.

Isengard. I fucking love Isengard with their pikes, crossbows, heavy armour and industrialism and I play as them whenever i can. I beat two campaign in Third Age as them.
Also Khazad-dum campaign is awesome, but was buggy last time i played Divide and Conquer. It's like Clan Angrund, but you start horde-like with one army and have to go from Erebor to Moria chosing one of two paths. There are events on the way too. Best campaign in mod, but was unstable last time i played it.

Any generic lord on a flying mount like a griffon or dragon can cycle charge him to death without risk, hell the generic orc warboss on a boar can repeatedly do that to him, the night gobbo warboss on a squig trades equally with him
Durthu, Kholek, Grombrindal, Vlad, Karl and Louen because of their mounts, Belegar if he uses his abilites, probably some others that I'm missing

Of course, in campaign it doesn't really matter and he'll still chop most things to death, but he's far from being good when you consider all the utility that other characters get along with their killing power.

The only other LL I tested him against was Ungrim and he lost, but it was pretty close and I only tested one fight.

In campaigns he always seems to wreck shit though.

You can also stat edit characters so they deal 0 or 100000 damage

Cheating is cheating, cycle charging is obviously a bug that CA just cant figure out how to fix.

The solution is pretty fucking simple though; make mounts have their own HP so lords/LL get dismounted when they die and put in a counter attack for disengaging as a mounted unit.

Lords on foot should really be immune to knockdown or knockback from charges and if not all lords at least LLs. It's ridiculous when characters like Ungrim and Grimgor lose battles to regular run of the mill chariots cause they spend most of the fight on their backs.

Of course what I really want is for mounted lords to lose their mounts (for the battle) after a certain amount of damage, but there's no way they would do the programming for that.

You can't cycle charge a general so easily if he's surrounded by units.

Comparing him to monsters doesn't make sense either, you trade shit out in order to get that.

I wouldn't have minded so bad if they'd tried to explain them as well-off peasants - like merchants or guildsmen - who had the means to afford better weapons and armor. It's not like everyone stuck in the peasant category is a farmer. It's just so obvious that this was a game balance decision without much care for anything else, from the lack of fluff to the recycled models.

I assume Foot Squires are just the peasants that have proven themselves to their respective Lords to deserve proper training and equipment. They don't actually buy their stuff, they just get it on loan for being so useful to their Lord.

That's a fair point, but I would rather they just give Bret lords a free horse as a unique faction bonus than having dismounted knights.

Bret Knights being so egotistical or oath crazed that they must always ride into battle prim and proper is cool in my opinion. Even in a siege battle, I can only see a Bret Noble riding into battle mounted even if it puts them at a serve disadvantage. Dismounted swords just being successful peasants that have the favor of their lord is good enough in my view.

It wouldn't ruin the game for me for there to be dismounted knights, but adding a dismount button could fuck with balance. And why do we need a separate unit of dismounted knights when we already have Foot Squires? Foot Squires already eclipse other Bret infantry. Add dismounted knights and there will never be a reason to recruit peasants outside of bows.
