honestly if you want better movement i would recommend doing autobhop first so that you can learn to strafe by muscle memory
the inconsistency of scrolling which is the first and most important thing you need to learn when doing any source movement
after that you can transition to bkz maps (kz maps built for autobhop) or just kz maps, learn to prespeed (circlejump), learn what sv_airaccel does, how tickrates affect strafing, what sync does, maybe tweak your sens to find a nice balance between accurately synced strafes and being able to turn quickly, etc
learning to consistently scroll is hard (and because of the nature of scroll bhop to a certain extent literally impossible), the only advice i can give you is to scroll slower on slower tickrates, faster on higher tickrates, and to never scroll too early before hitting the ground (you need to do it a few milliseconds before landing to take advantage of this
surf does a worse job of teaching how to strafe imo, but its still fun
