It's the least "RPG" in terms of dialogue or choices they've ever done.

Remember when ME3 came out and people complained about the lack of dialogue choices and the "auto dialogue " (aka Shepard talking frequently without the player having a choice of what they'll say)? ME:A is that taken even further. Scott and Sara have very defined personalities (Nathan Drake and bookish awkward nerd) and even if you try to consistently pick options that go outside of those personalities, they revert during auto dialogue. Even Hawke had three personalities to choose from.

Paraphrased dialogue choices rarely match tone or intent of the actual line and the "personality choices" are the choice of the line being delivered in a professional manner or a joking manner.

It's closer to Telltale than Bioware.

Shit got real in Trespasser. I liked Inquisition, but the biggest build up was the Haven battle. I honest to god thought that the game was ending at that point on surface observation because I'd done so much shit in the Hinterlands at that point, just thinking it could have been really short.

DA:O obviously had the best planned encounters because Bioware still pretended that it's a tactical combat series at that point. It never quite reaches BG2 levels because of inherent combat system limitations (no OP skills like time stop, resistances play a much smaller role, etc) and it's especially apparent in fights that are similar in both games (Kangaxx and the high dragons), but there's still some challenging stuff like the Cauthrien fight or the forgemaster in the deep roads. There was also quite a bit of versatility in how you could build a mage even if rogues and warriors were sadly linear and limited.
It's been a while since I played DA2 but I think I disliked the combat there the most because of the whole awesome button nonsense. Too flashy, too many redundant skills, you can't really become OP because many cool skills from DA:O were removed, shitty repetitve encounters, and so on.
DA:I is an action game, it's not fair to even compare it to the other two. There's pretty much no tactical planning involved in the combat unless you count kiting as something that needs tactical thinking.

to add to this, it annoyed me that a lot of encounters were 'wave' style in 2. you could never plan ahead because halfway through some fuckheads would leap down from the rooftops and land in the middle of your fight.
