I've been saving up my gems since I started playing but now I'm at 9999 and apparently it's not possible to go beyond this number I can't redeem gem rewards right now, meaning I'm actually forced to open some packs.

Holy shit dude use your gems. Buy Rising if you want sonic bird for rtitual decks or clown control, it has Order to charge aswell which is perfect for Dino beatdown. Go for the other main packs if you want generically better cards and the mini boxes are all basically for a certain themed deck each (Daedallus/suijin, Tyrant dragon etc). If your a f2p you need to spend your gems, like theirs honestly no reason not to.
