Hmm, how the heck would one do this? All the post-apocalyptic movies and shows I've seen don't really show much difference in underground areas, and tend to focus more on above-ground areas (think Mad Max). Bunch of holes in walls, maybe?

Just make it a bomb shelter or bunker or something, and make the area above it a blasted wasteland.

Take a look at what underground generated houses look like, they often have missing walls, floors/ceilings that have bits of the environment in them, lights/furniture missing etc.
Grasslands are great for that sort of thing, since the vines and grass make any wood or stone still showing stand out more.
