I predict the removal of manual attacks on T4-5 CVs is actually a testbed for the complete removal of ALT attacks for all CVs in a future patch, to be introduced at the same time as the new CV interface. Auto attacks will have their required arming range reduced a bit, so they won't be as dodgeable as they currently are, but it will never be the same as a manual run.
This way WG seeks to reduce the gap between new and experienced players, reducing the needs to understand the technical details quirks of the system.

One of the main complaints about CVs has always been that you can't hope to evade superclose TB drops. If WG removes manual drops and buffs autodrops a little, then that complaint would no longer be valid. To offset it, WG could buff up the damage per torp a bit, and increase plane resilience to AA another bit.
A benefit I see from having only autodrops is that it would force CV's to actually setup cross-drops from multiple directions, as opposed to just bunching everything into a single deathball dropping at the exact same time.

The reason why CVs group up their squadrons on anything but DDs is because most players can just focus one squadron, kill it and turn into the other torpedo squadron and dodge most of the torpedoes.

I agree that if everything else with buffed. More squadrons, more strategic choices and pretty much more everything, autodrops would be fine. As it stands autodrops only leads to shitty autodrops t4-t6 that can attack once every 3-4 minutes and miss half the time or more.

So, now that stealth fire is confirmed gone, I've been contemplating a couple of things.

Now, with the proposed stealth fire cruiser appeasement "change" when you're playing Yamato or North Cal with decent guns you're pretty much always going to be spotted and taking fire and damage. Unless it's an all-battleship game and nobody knows what they're doing, you will find it extremely difficult to do well and survive, because (in my opinion) you'll either stay alive and do very little damage or do a bit more damage and get shot up by all the cruisers and German secondaries.

This is particularly terrible news for Yamato and NC with their 30km range and ability to stealth fire with recon plane; unless they "hug their island waifus" to death, they will be caught out and killed with ease.

Battleships are already in such a bad position, the last thing we needed was someone to come along and make them worse. And don't come at me with that "oh but your heal," because you can't do any significant tanking in roughly 20 seconds worth of healing time spread in two charges a minute and 30 secondsapart (assuming non-pay2winpremium heal and no superintendent)

And it's clear Wargaming's agenda is to nerf battleships to the sea floor and appease the kids who took their dad's credit cards and bought a Blyska.

So I ask you lot, should I refund all roughly $300 of premium ships I have, all my doubloons, all my WoT premium stuff, and let wargaming ruin these good games yet be happy (which seems perfectly reasonable at this point), or are we going to do something about this
