How to fight Lynels for dummies who can't backflip:

0) Equip a 2 handed weapon that can SPIN 2 WIN and Barbarian Armor and eat Defense food (Or use fully Upgraded Ancient with Ancient/Guardian++ Axe and attack up food)
1) Raviolis Gale to approach, do the Midair snipe to unleash headshots, stasis and start charging a attack
2) URBOSA FURY stun and then stasis.
3) SPIN 2 WIN
4) URBOSA FURY one he stands up and then Stasis
5) SPIN 2WIN
6) URBOSA FURY one he stands up and then Stasis
7) SPIN 2WIN
8) URBOSA FURY one he stands up and then Stasis
9) SPIN 2WIN
10) DARUKS PROTECTION
11) Probably not enough time to spin to win so ho 1-Handed and do normal attacks
12) DARUKS PROTECTION
13) SLASHAN 4 EVER
14) DARUKS PROTECTION
15) SHOVE THAT LIZALFOZ BOOMERANG UP THE LYNEL BUM
16) Shit should be dead now or earlier, if not dead Raviolis gale and use arrows for the final bit of life and get a last stun in and murder more until it is.

Anyone else frustrated that the only things marked on the map by default are found korok seeds and teleports? I like stamps, but you only have 100. That, and it makes a task out of figuring out exactly where you have and haven't been, since you cant adequately map the whole world after you've gotten all the towers.

>Got all 120 Shrines
>Decided to start exploring Hyrule Castle
>my face when I accidentally stumbled into the final boss because I was expecting a "point of no return" warning.
>my face again later on when I got the 12th memory and Impah gives me a vague glance at a low res picture of a grassy field with dead guardians and pretends like I should know where it is easily

I figured it was Fort Hateno, but it's still a shitty fucking thing to do. The end in general is sloppy. The memories quest is a little messy and the finale really needed to have even just a doorway that needed to be opened. I literally stumbled into it. I figured no way I would be able to accidentally FIGHT Ganon. I was wrong.

For True Ending:
>Have to explore most of the castle and get to within inches of the final boss to get one of the last memories
>True ending requires the completion of the memories quest
>In order to complete the memories quest, you have to turn around, warp out of Hyrule Castle
>Warp to Kakariko
>Talk to Impah
>Identify one last photo that you can't even reference in your album
>Travel to that location and get the final cutscene
What a sloppy mess. The 13th memory should have been inside Hyrule Castle. I get that they wanted the "final" one to be the dramatic one, but the placement is fucking garbage.

Maybe you should have realized that the castle isn't as ending only as you thought, retard. You can go there as soon as you're off the plateau, and several quests involve going inside to loot things, including a shrine, and since you said you did all 120, you MUST have already been there at least once.

>Maybe you should have realized that the castle isn't as ending only as you thought,

I didn't think that. I think that placing what will commonly be the final memory or even any memories at all within the confine of the castle is retarded because of how it can shatter your momentum in the way I described. They could have had her argument with the King take place in Castle Town.

>>
>>171702681
If you're literally just doing the memories as a checklist before fighting the final boss, then sure, you have to go to the castle, find the memory, warp out, go to kakariko, finish the final final memory, then go BACK to the castle for the boss.

OR you could be in the castle rummaging for a cookbook, stumbling on the Hylian shield AND the memory in the process, leave an hour later after you've continued to do a shitload of exploring there, and go about your adventure. Eventually you'll have found the other 7 memories you hadn't tracked down yet, go back to Impa and get the final final one, then once again go off on an adventure for several hours before finally returning to the castle to take on Ganon.

You're seemingly glued to this concept that the memories must be completed as the final thing you do right before the final fight. Even though you get the questline at the exact same time as you get the one for the divine beasts. YOU chose to get that memory last, and it's YOUR fault that you had to run in and out of Hyrule castle at the very end. I got that memory 20 hours in, and now I'm at 150 hours and haven't been in the castle in like a week. This game doesn't hold your hand with the pacing of the quests, it leaves that up to you.

>upon inspecting vah ruta's malfunction, zelda discovers that the spirits of the champions can only keep synchronized with the divine beasts for so long after the pilot's death
>one by one, the divine beasts lose function as their link with the spirit of the champion fades
>knowing that the divine beasts are imperative to protecting the kingdom should ganon return, zelda prioritizes finding new champions to pilot the beasts and remain on standby
>unfortunately, they have no luck as nobody else in the kingdom is able to establish a link with the beasts
>desperate, zelda plans a columbus-like expedition to a new country across the sea in the hopes that they can be compatible pilots there
>they build/find a ship and set sail, near blindly and with nothing but hope
>team consists of zelda, link, the ship's crew, and some hylian knights
>one morning, several months into the voyage, as the sun rises over the horizon to the east, they spot land

>OR you could be in the castle rummaging for a cookbook, stumbling on the Hylian shield AND the memory in the process
Why the fuck would I want to explore the castle before I'm ready to kill Ganon? Those sidequests are just on my list of "for later" after I've explored the castle.

Like seriously. Why would I go in and spoil my endgame experience just to fulfill a shitty sidequest with a reward that we both know couldn't possibly be more than a diamond or something? Does that makes sense to you?

>You're seemingly glued to this concept that the memories must be completed as the final thing
No, that's your retarded and completely idiot interpretation. I had most of the memories hunted down AGES ago. I just left the castle one until last since I had no intention of breaching the walls until I was done with everything else. Even if you're not leaving it for last, it's fucking moronic that any sort of "main quest" objective is THAT close to Ganon. Like, why wouldn't you just go ahead and kill him right then and there if you've already gotten all the way to his doorstep?

It's dumb. No matter how slice it, you have to do dumb shit like turn around and walk away from the end of the game.
>>
>>171702270
>Have to explore most of the castle and get to within inches of the final boss to get one of the last memories

To be honest I didn't realize how close it was to Ganon because I used Revali's gale at the top of one of the spires outside the castle to fly into Zelda's study, then teleported out.

Not everyone takes the main gate route, anon.

You're the one who chose to play the game in a specific way, then are blaming the way that you played the game for being anticlimactic when that's a problem you created because of your playstyle. There's a dozen reasons to explore the castle early for quests, koroks, items, shrine, and specifically to get the memory. I myself went there early because of those things. You're the one who wanted a big final showdown, you could've just ignored the memory and completed it, especially since you didn't seem to have a problem ignoring every other incentive to go there. You're blaming the game for a problem created by your very specific playstyle.

Make up your mind on what stupid thing you did already. The castle is just a place on the map, to be explored whenever you feel like it, with quests and goodies inside that can be used during the main game. It is clearly not intended to be a place you only go to when you're ready to fight Ganon. It is entirely your own fault for deciding to treat it as such, and then getting butthurt that the game put things there.

Your literal argument is that you're mad the game put content inside the castle, because you wanted the castle to be the last thing you did. Which is fine if you did, but then bitching that the game isn't set up like that is retarded. It's like saying you're pissed that you have to talk to npcs to buy things or upgrade inventory slots because YOU chose to do a run of the game where you don't interact with NPCs. You invented an arbitrary rule for your playthrough, and are blaming the game for that inconveniencing you

There are NO quests worth going in there. Had there been a series of quests where you needed to go in there and the reward was something like an armor set or something? Even a minigame? SURE! GREAT! But we both know, that 90% of the minor quests in this have shit and fuckall for rewards.

>>171704151

Yes. Where's the contradiction again?
>The castle is just a place on the map, to be explored whenever you feel like it
Irrelevant. just because you can CHOOSE to rush the final castle doesn't mean you're meant to.
> It is clearly not intended to be a place you only go to when you're ready to fight Ganon. It is entirely your own fault for deciding to treat it as such, and then getting butthurt that the game put things there.
I don't mind there being stuff there. I mind that a main quest item is literally within shouting distance of the final boss.

That's indefensible. I'm astounded you think it's okay. The memory being in Hyrule Castle? Debatable. Being right next to Ganon? Fuck no. You're way too caught up trying to fault my playstyle rather than looking at the objective reality; a main quest item needed for the true end is found right next to the trigger for the final boss. It's dumb as fuck. No matter what my intentions or the game's intentions were, they asked me to turn around and walk away from the final boss. That's fucking dumb. Full stop. There's no reason why they should want me to get right up to the final boss and then walk away like that. It's shit design and the memory quest finale is shit design too.

The castle memory should have been a long ways away from Ganon if it had to be a "castle" memory.

>Maybe you should have realized that the castle isn't as ending only as you thought,

I didn't think that.

That's you quoting me and then responding. You literally denied thinking the castle is the end of the game. Then a post later you say it is. Contradiction.

The memory isn't "Right next to Ganon". It's an entire floor below the staircase that leads into his chamber. And if you're not retarded and you reference the image, you can clearly see that the actual castle is IN THE IMAGE, meaning that you should KNOW that the memory is not inside the castle (can't take a picture of the outside of a building from inside it). If you went into the giant spire in the middle while searching for that image, you're a retard.

The game also lets you walk right up to the master sword from the start, but you can't pull it until you have enough hearts. You can also beat the game without doing any dungeons. This game is free form. You continue to get ass blasted that the game doesn't hold your hand and make sure you do all there is to do before getting to the castle.

You're not MEANT to do anything in this game, that's the fucking point. You're not MEANT to rush the castle at the start, and you're not MEANT to save it for the very end. The choice is yours. The game was clearly designed with the intent of having players exploring the castle BEFORE their final assault on Ganon. They added quests that take you there, a main quest with an objective in there, a shrine in there, koroks in there, and other NPCs that tell you there's awesome loot inside and debate going there themselves. Once again YOU MADE THE CHOICE to save it for the end, which is FINE. Because that is your choice. But to then CHASTISE the game for YOUR decision is retarded. The game wants you to go there just like it wants you to go everywhere else, and when YOU CHOOSE to go there last, you're bound to find shit that you would have been better off finding sooner.

>Yes. Where's the contradiction again?

Because you're saying you were only going to do the castle at the very end, but that you also wanted to do the memories at the very end, when you know for a fact that A) one of the memories is in the castle and B) you have to return to impa to complete the quest (even ignoring the surprise final memory), meaning you would HAVE to enter hyrule castle and leave at some point. The two are contradictory, you can't say "I'm doing the castle last" and "I'm doing the memories last" for the very reasons you've pointed out, and anyone with a brain would've realized this.

>Irrelevant. just because you can CHOOSE to rush the final castle doesn't mean you're meant to.

You have absolute freedom in this game. You aren't 'meant' to do anything. You are meant to do the castle whenever you want.

> I mind that a main quest item is literally within shouting distance of the final boss.

It's completely optional. Don't like it? Just fight ganon and don't get it.

>There's no reason why they should want me to get right up to the final boss and then walk away like that. It's shit design and the memory quest finale is shit design too.

You're making a flawed assumption about developer intent. They didn't 'want' you to do anything. They don't care what you do, or when, that's the whole point, you can beat ganon in 40 minutes. And, again, you don't HAVE to turn away and leave. If you really wanted to, you could've just done it then. It breaks game flow because you decided to play it in a way that broke game flow. In my playthrough, for example, I did the memories first, so it was fantastic for me, because I got to try sneaking around hyrule castle dodging everything, then I got to come back and smash through the front doors and kill everything. It's all about playstyle, and you chose to play in a way that made your experience less enjoyable for you because you didn't actually think about the consequences it would have.
>>
>>171705264
Not inside the shrines themselves, no. There are several quests that are just a treasure and a monk, that require overworld puzzles to be solved, however. Some of these challenges are pretty tough or otherwise engaging. Usually the ones involving guardians. There's also the nudist island where you must fight a hinox with no armor, limited health restoratives and shitty weapons. But there are ways to cheese him, and you technically don't need to kill him, just get the orb off his neck.
>>
>>171704550
>But we both know, that 90% of the minor quests in this have shit and fuckall for rewards.
In keeping with the theme of the game, which is that the journey is more important than the destination. The quests that send you there let you know that, yeah, you can go into hyrule castle super early and might even be able to avoid getting your ass kicked long enough to find some hidden shit. The actual reward is in the form of the weapons and shield you find inside, and the experience of skulking around the castle early on when you're weak.

A post later I say anything right within the immediate area surrounding Ganon's Room is. Asking me to go THAT close to the final boss just to turn around it retarded in the extreme.
>The memory isn't "Right next to Ganon". It's an entire floor below the staircase that leads into his chamber
Go there right now. Use Revali's Gale on the big staircase with the golden birds. You can glide to that memory in less than 10 seconds probably. Anyways, the location in a vacuum isn't a sound argument. You're gonna have to stomp all over the castle grounds to find it. During which time it's extremely likely you'll find the Sanctum and maybe even trigger Ganon.

>all these deflections
Holy shit. Literally didn't even bother to read it all because you're rambling blindly about nothing. You have yet to address the core issue. The placement of a main quest item in relation to the final boss.

The game put a requirement for the true end right next to the final boss. That would be just fine if you could simply collect the item and get the true end. But you can't. You have to walk away from the final boss to either go collect more items or go talk to an old lady. It's dumb and you cannot defend that.

> you're bound to find shit that you would have been better off finding sooner.
Okay so I skimmed your post a little and ran across this nonsense. You're SO fucking stupid. I don't give a fuck WHEN I get it. I give a fuck WHERE I get it.

>Because you're saying you were only going to do the castle at the very end, but that you also wanted to do the memories at the very end
But that's not what I said. I said I was leaving the castle for last and as a result, left the memory that's found there for last too. But that has NO bearing on the retarded design of putting a true ending requirement that close to the boss.

Like just for example: if the memory took place in the library? If the memory took place in the docks? In Castle Town? Sure! But it's not in those places. It's near the very top of the castle, very very close to Ganon himself.

>Go there right now. Use Revali's Gale on the big staircase with the golden birds. You can glide to that memory in less than 10 seconds probably.

An ability that not everyone at that point will have, or not know where to go. If you do a beeline straight from one point to the other, sure, it's fast, but that's assuming you already know what to do and do it as fast as possible. You can't even see Ganon's tower from Zelda's room, you'd have no idea how close you were if you went there first.

>Anyways, the location in a vacuum isn't a sound argument.

(you used the location in a vacuum as an argument in the previous sentence)

>You're gonna have to stomp all over the castle grounds to find it.

Open the map and take a look. If you look at the photo then look at the map of hyrule castle you'll realize where it is instantly.

>The game put a requirement for the true end right next to the final boss. That would be just fine if you could simply collect the item and get the true end. But you can't. You have to walk away from the final boss to either go collect more items or go talk to an old lady. It's dumb and you cannot defend that.

People have addressed this multiple times. That's only a problem for you because you played the game in a specific way, and you wanted to go straight from getting the final memory to fighting the last boss. If a person didn't want to play the game in that way, it won't be a problem for them. Yes, it makes things anticlimactic if you play the game in the way you chose to, but that's the price of freedom, for anyone who played it in a different way (like me) that wasn't a problem. The reason it's defensible is because it's an open world game, and if you let people do anything in any order and go anywhere they want, at some point somebody's going to do something that makes it less enjoyable for themselves, and that's not the game's fault.
>>
>>171705846
So it's okay to go to the castle, but not higher up on the castle? What a stupid argument.

Also good job, you've learned that you can glide from the higher place to the lower place quickly. Now go to the memory and make your way to the sanctum entrance. Even with Revali's gale you'll be climbing a wall. Speedrunners use the memory platform as a part of their trail to reach Ganon, and in order to make the climb, they have to climb to the TOP of the spire on Zelda's study, then glide over and climb the wall to the main area. Let's not forget that to even GET to that spire you have to climb from SEVERAL floors below. There is a staricase that leads right to it, that doesn't require you to go anywhere near Ganon's chamber. It's close in the same way that Kakariko is close to Dueling Peaks.

>All this not responding to the argument
Fine, let me simplify it. The game let's you do anything at any time, and clearly expects and encourages you to explore the castle before you're actually fighting Ganon. The memory can be located by looking at the image you have and estimating it's location, and yes, it is entirely reasonable to think that a person with eyes would not manage to enter the sanctum on accident.

>I don't give a fuck WHEN I get it. I give a fuck WHERE I get it.
>Your entire first post was you arguing that this memory is the last thing you will get before fighting Ganon

You just can't maintain a consistent view on this, can you? You are clearly trying to move the goalposts so you can have ANYTHING resembling an argument. But you don't. You never did and you never will. The castle is not an end game location, and the only collectibles there that are arguably too close to the sanctum are a few koroks. Literally everyone but you managed to get that memory while doing a regular explorative run of the castle, but you were a retard and you want it to be the game's fault.

Is there a single non-shrine non-master sword quest in the entire game that you can complete without returning to the person who gave it to you? If there is, I haven't seen it, and the vast majority don't function like that.

Especially since the only way you'd know the requirements for the true end (or even that there was a true end) was by looking it up, so you spoiled yourself on what you needed to do to get the ending, but then didn't actually think about what that would entail?

Sure, the game doesn't EXPLICITLY tell you, but anyone with a brain would've figured it out.

>An ability that not everyone at that point will have, or not know where to go.

> You can't even see Ganon's tower from Zelda's room
So? The proximity is far too great and since you're working from a memory photo, you're likely to take an extremely indirect route to the location form the image. Which worsens the issue of proximity quite a bit.

>>171706709
>So it's okay to go to the castle, but not higher up on the castle?
Not for main quest items. No.
>Now go to the memory and make your way to the sanctum entrance
Spamming climb it's still probably a 30 second trip. It's REALLY close to Ganon unless you travel strictly via corridors and stairs.
>person with eyes would not manage to enter the sanctum on accident.
I didn't enter it by accident. I knew I was walking into a room. What I didn't know is that this would be the one game out of hundreds without a "point of no return" prompt for the final boss.

>Your entire first post was you arguing that this memory is the last thing you will get before fighting Ganon
Was the last thing that -I- got. It's placement created a bad situation for ME. That was the gist of the post.

But even without my own personal involvement, the bottom line of the situation is that no matter what, Zelda's Laboratory memory asks you to breach the final dungeon and climb all the way up to the final boss just so you can turn around and leave again.

It's dumb. A main quest should never lead you that close to the end and then demand that you turn around. You have yet to actually tackle this issue. You're still skirting it because you're stupid or stubborn.

So you agree it was your own stupidity that led to your bad experience. Yet you still think it's the game's fault. Okay then. Also 30 seconds of climbing and jumping is not something that you're going to do by mistake, or even feel like the game intends for you to do. To draw a path right from the memory to Ganon requires you to go out of your way, the game in no way expects or encourages you to do it.

>Didn't know the sanctum was where Ganon was
So the door leading into the central spire at the very top of the castle, and the GIANT RED GLOWING DOT ON YOUR MAP didn't tip you off? Again, entirely your fault.

For a main quest item to be found in the castle, about halfway up and not in close proximity to the final fight, is absolutely fine. In fact, ANY quest item or goal being ANYWHERE in the castle that is not directly in or above that room is fine. That entire castle save for that room is free for you to explore, and it is clear that this is the case to anyone that is paying attention.

No. It's the devs placing a main quest item next to the final boss when said item demands that you leave and come back.
>So the door leading into the central spire at the very top of the castle, and the GIANT RED GLOWING DOT ON YOUR MAP didn't tip you off?
I figured he was in there. I didn't know what it would take to start the fight. Again, pretty much any other game would ask you "Are you ready?" before triggering the end sequence. BotW didn't even put it behind a closed door. You can even stumble in through a small side door, thinking that it's a secondary room nearby to the main room.
>For a main quest item to be found in the castle, about halfway up and not in close proximity to the final fight
It's at the top of the castle anon. You can deny it all you want, but it's placed at the top. The Sanctum and Zelda's Room are at the same basic elevation. And for the third motherfucking god damn time, since it's a memory photo, the precise location in a vacuum isn't a sound defense. You're not going to be able to seek it out directly/by accident unless you're quite lucky. Most players will end up running around the castle a little in order to find the spot from the photo. In order to run around in the right area, you're gonna be running around near Ganon.

It's a bad design. The story.main quest still managed to suffer as a result of the open air designs.

Talked to death already, it's not near it, and since you don't need to go straight to Ganon and there's plenty more in the castle to explore, there is no reasonable expectation for the player to go from that memory to Ganon.

>I figured he was there
So you walked INTO THE BOSS ROOM and got surprised that a BOSS FIGHT started? What the fuck, you just don't have any capability of rational thought.

>The Sanctum and Zelda's Room are at the same basic elevation.

Objectively false. Zelda's room is literally built INTO THE CENTRAL STRUCTURE OF HYRULE CASTLE, UNDERNEATH THE WALKWAY THAT LEADS TO THE SANCTUM. If you had the ability to drill, or clip through meshes, you could clip through the walkway outside the sanctum and wind up in the ceiling of Zelda's room. It is objectively beneath it. If they were the same elevation, the door leading to Zelda's room from inside the castle (now just a partial hallway blocked by rubble) would literally be a door leading outside to the walkway. But it's not, it is so clearly below it. And the ACTUAL walkway that leads into Zelda's room, without jumping from above, is THREE LEVELS BELOW THAT, putting the path that leads to the memory FOUR FLOORS BENEATH THE SANCTUM. It is not "too close" to Ganon. It is accessed by a staircase 20 feet away from the exit of the grand library, which is accessed from the mines below, which are accessed from the VERY FUCKING BOTTOM of the castle. Naturally progressing through the interiors of the lower castle will lead you right to that memory, and that's assuming you didn't look at your album and cross reference it with your map to just find the spot yourself.

It is absolutely your fault if you could only find the memory by walking to the top of the castle and then jumping down. The castle is perfectly designed to lead exploratory players right to it.

>So you walked INTO THE BOSS ROOM and got surprised that a BOSS FIGHT started?
Yes. There should have been a prompt. Even just a door to open would be okay, but an examine prompt for the cocoon on the ceiling would suffice. The final boss isn't something that should just "happen" like that. There should be SOMETHING that player does other than merely walk forwards. Ideally, they'd have put a lock on his door and hidden a key somewhere like behind a challenging room/fight or in a major landmark. Y'know, as a reference/homage to Boss/Big Keys in Zelda? But whatever, that's just my own dumb idea.
> UNDERNEATH THE WALKWAY THAT LEADS TO THE SANCTUM.
Exactly. It's fucking right next to Ganon. You're ability to reason 3D space is insanely inadequate my friend. Are you gonna try to ignore how the golden birds on the walkway are the only major distinguishing feature in the photo and that most players will only stop and divert their attention to searching for the memory once they've found them?

This is fucking pathetic anon. I'm done blowing you out of the water.

>So retarded you can't piece together that walking into a boss room won't trigger the boss

Door or no door, that is just beyond obvious. You have no excuse for that, you're just plain retarded for this one. If the game had as many prompts as you are suggesting it should it would just be Skyward Sword 2.

>You're ability to reason 3D space is insanely inadequate my friend

First of all, your*, obviously your writing comprehension is on par with your own 3D spacial reasoning. It's under it. Under as in below. As in you need to go UP to get to the sanctum. There isn't a staircase, there isn't an elevator, or an opening inside her room, nothing. To get from A to B you MUST go out of your way to climb a wall (which is covered in corruption btw, that you need to navigate around). The only way it is "close" is if you take an ALTERNATE PATH that leads you to the sanctum FIRST, then jump DOWN to where the memory is. And by that metric EVERYTHING IN THE CASTLE is close to the sanctum, as you can easily reach nearly any spot below from that spire. You are looking a 3d maze from the top working your way down, and saying it's too close. That's like saying the entrance to the maze island is too close to the solution, because you can enter from the top right above where you need to go to finish the maze. You break sequence and get to the end first, obviously things will be easy to get to.

And there are tons of ways to know where that memory is without even seeing the statues. Like the fact that THE FUCKING CASTLE IS IN THE IMAGE. THE TOP OF THE CASTLE. Where can you possibly expect to stand and see that other than a platform just off the side of the castle? And how many of those are there? ONE. There is literally only one place that picture could be by the very nature of what the picture is of. Just because you're ability to look a picture and find the location it was taken from is shit doesn't mean everyone else's is. Jesus you're retarded.

>Akkala, a region never shown before despite having its own citadel, closely resembles a region of the wand of gamelon map, which also had multiple castles
>BotW, Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon are the only titles in which enemies hit brutally hard and a low-level enemy can kill you in seconds, the world is a much deadlier place in this canon
>in most 3D Zelda games there is at least one enemy (usually ganon) that is defeated by swatting a projectile back and forth until they miss a swing, which is done using the master sword. In the CD-i games and BotW, however, most enemies that fire projectiles that can kill you instantly are defeated by using your SHIELD to deflect the projectile back at them one time, and this often kills them in one hit
I could go on, the evidence is all around us. The reason that the game seems to combine elements of all timelines is that various events from other timelines would have eventually happened (in reference to the mainline games), but in less epic and decidedly shittier ways, had the CD-i series continued. It's time to face reality, kiddos: BotW takes place at the end of the CD-i timeline.

Ancient Arrows do 1/3 of their HP. In combination with a x3/x5 bow you need only one per guardian.
>>
>>171721741
Kill walker/flyer guardians, "Decayed" ones don't drop them, Turret ones do though.

I think Major Test of Strength Scouts has a chance of em too, but Minor Test Ones don't.

Tests have their Scouts repawn every Blood Moon, so doing Major Tests is probably the best way to farm, even though the Castle is littered with them it is kinda annoying to navigate and restocking shields and weapons (for when the MS recharges)is kinda annoying, and redoing Shrines give you those ANCIENT x++ Weapons to use once you have Ancient Proficiency.

Turrets and Flyers do drop Giant cores though so you gonna grind those at the castle anyway.

You need to beat at least one divine beast to unlock the top tier amiibo items.

And even then it's only a 5%-chance drop, so if you did already beat a beast then you're just unlucky.

I'm close to having it done, but it's functionally identical to Barbarian armor. 20 per piece at 4 stars with reduced charge attack stamina as it's bonus.

You potentially get one a day since you can only scan a Amiibo once a day (But you can reload a save before the scan and scan again if you didn't like what you got)

I think that if you have several SmashZelda Amiibos(WHY?) you can scan EACH once a day due it recognizing them as different ones.

WolfLink works a bit different since it lets you resummon as many times as you want until he dies, so if he despawnsv (By you saving and quiting or something like that) you can respawn him, but if he gets killed you gotta wait until the next day before getting him again, i think it works the same save wise that you can reload a save before he died if you really don't wanna lose the use of YOLODog for that day yet though.

I think Epona can also be resummoned if you fuck up and summon her on the Plateau but not otherwise, but i ain't sure.

well I am completely stumped, i've got two shrines left to complete, I know the location of one (The bloodmoon kass shrine) and have marked it with a star.

The other, the final one, I can not find. I've scoured the game world, i've consulted an online map, I can not find this fucking shrine.

It's an extremely tall order I realise but could anyone perhaps see my missing shrine on this map? As I said, the Kass Bloodmoon shrine is marked with a star, I know where that one is and am simply waiting for a bloodmoon to do it.

I would be extremely grateful for any help.

>Really? first i heard about is, you have any sauce? i wanna learn more about this mechanical shit, I didn't bother scanning until after my first Beast.

I'm the writer of an amiibo guide on leddit, and someone there helped me data mine the actual drop tables. Here's their data: http://pastebin.com/he80NGqB

Basically, every amiibo has three different sets of item tables. I did a bunch of testing and found out exactly what triggers each of the three sets: The first is available from the start of the game, the second activates after you obtain the Paraglider, and the third activates when you've beaten one Divine Beast. Each set has progressively better items, and most of the special nostalgia weapons are in the third set.
>>
>>171724342
It's pretty nice. If you're impatient you can farm the upgrade materials now. I think it's 15 Hinox toenails, 15 Hinox Teeth, 6 Hinox guts, 6 Lynel guts, and one claw fang scale and horn from each dragon, but I might be slightly off remembering it.

Oh, and I should respond to the rest of your post:

>I think Epona can also be resummoned if you fuck up and summon her on the Plateau but not otherwise, but i ain't sure.

Epona can be re-summoned whenever she dies. It's just a random chance whether or not you'll get Epona or a chest drop, so you might not get her back immediately. (You can always just use the horse fairy, though.)

>I heard locations influence drops so where are you? Plateau? Kakariko? The Castle?

Myth. The only thing that affects your drops is story progression.

Does it bug anyone else how ultimately pointless all the detail they put into the cooking system is? You can make all these neat cakes, stews, and other things, but it all amounts to little more than novelty. They're not valuable to sell, and they're an inefficient use of ingredients both in terms of effect and health recovery.
There's 0 practical reason to ever cook anything besides [hearty/endura ingredient x1] and [4/5x effect ingredient]. Such squandered potential.

They should have made it so that putting together a complex dish involving an efect ingredient yields the most potent effects, rather than just dumping a pile of them plain. Make taste matter.

Also on a similar note, they need to rework hearty/endura items to behave like any other restorative, except they have the potential to overheal you if they would push your meter past its maximum, rather than just being cheap full-restores that make every other form of heart/stamina recovery irrelevant.

Both of these simple changes would make cooking much more deep and rewarding.

All the optional lore bits in Hyrule Castle were really well done.
I also loved the subversion of the Royal Guard gear being the generic "black recolor ultimate endgame gear", and instead being PoS failed experiments born of last-minute desperation. Especially the bit in the broadsword's description about it being an attempt to replicate the master sword.
Really hit home the sense of total hopelessness that must have overcome everyone in the final days, they were willing to trying absolutely anything.

Nintendo sees BotW as the successor to the NES Legend of Zelda, so you could give that a try.

As far as the 3D games go I feel like Majora's Mask is the closest, in the sense that you will spend 90% of your time doing everything but the main quest.
>>
breath of the wild showed me the problem i had with videogames.

i had stopped looking at them.
i would play the game, yes, but looking at the minimap following some breadcrumb, i would look at status pages, quest pages, quest logs that activate breadcrumb trails.

i could play a game for hours and really see it half the time.

in botw i went back looking at the game. i have to fill the points of interest in the map, npc give me cardinal direction and name of places. i started seeing the things in the game, the posters with recipes in the stables. you could see every single ingredient for every color in the color shop in hateno, without looking at an interface, because people use that shop, of course they must have posters for the color.

i feel like i started playing videogames again for the first time, it's amazing. i cannot even deliver fully this impression, it's in every thing. yunobo asks you how to command him to stop, but there is no prompt, no "press down on the dpad to make yunobo stop". he just says "like a horse" and i just know what to do.
i had to find those cichks and make a dish for one of them, no quest markers, no recipe added in the quest log, nothing. i didn't complete a quest, i explored the town and made a meal for a young bird.

>Majora's Mask

That. Majora's Mask is a game made entirely of sidequests and secrets, and more open than most. The NPCs who react to what you do in BoTW are the same in Majora's Mask.

Alternatively, Wind Waker, who has a huge focus on exploration. Wind Waker is the most open world
3D Zelda after BoTW.

i had a really bad perfomance on the volcano quest part. the game freezed for 10 seconds once and 5 seconds just a minute later.
there's some frame drop near forests and tall grass which sucks but it's tolerable. i agree that it must be cited though, it's an actual demerit of the consoles, more than the game.
btw i'm playing on wii u

>>171738528
It runs better than the switch tbqh famalam.

With the switch version I frequently have drop in framerates. With the wii u version the resolution is lesser, but the fps are greater.

BoTW was probably optimized for the wii u and ported to the switch.

Depends on if you want something that feels similar to BotW, want to play the best Zeldas, or want to get an overview of the series.

In terms of feel, I'd say the two games most (this is a relative term) similar to BotW are Majora's Mask—for its dense, melancholic atmosphere, the many sidequests, and the memorable NPCs—and Wind Waker, whose artstyle and openness BotW seems to take a lot of inspiration from.

Those two I would also say are the best console Zeldas, though you definitely want to check out the handheld games as well. Link's Awakening in particular is a timeless classic.

If you want to experience the series, Ocarina of Time is a must since it was revolutionary at the time and provided the template for all 3D Zeldas to follow after it. Majora's Mask and Wind Waker are mandatory too.
The two NES games are a bit dated but might be interesting from a historical perspective, especialy to see how different Zelda II was.
It was A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening that both cemented the series's characteristic gameplay elements.

Play the Oracle games and Minish Cap at your leisure once you've played ALttP and LA, and avoid Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

He thinks it's really bad. He's wrong, but it has very big flaws.
>>
>>171739247
It sapped all the fun out of me when I played it and made me stop caring about Zelda games until BotW.
Many of the items you get are utterly useless outside of their dungeons (moreso than in other games), there's a painful lack of endearing NPCs (and of sidequests—in fact, wasn't there only a single siquests that was just a very long chain of fetch quests?), the overworld is drab and empty, and with the twilight disappearing after the third dungeon Wolf Link becomes little more than an inconvenience rather than an interesting gameplay element.

Hyrule Town for me was emblematic for many of TP's flaws. You arrive, and 95% of all NPCs on screen are just background clutter whom you can't even talk to.

You're expressing yourself so much like an entitled bitch, I can't stop myself from telling you. Just re-read what you wrote from a point of view that you're not right with what you're demanding. Isn't that embarrassing?

And you're not right, holy shit. Several characters tell you about sneaking into the castle and looting treasure. Even Impa tells you that you can go in and attempt to wreck Ganon, but shouldn't. No one tells you that going into the castle is meant to be one-way.

You see the big throbbing lump hanging in the throne room from afar. It's the fucking throne room. It's even labelled sanctum. How many more warnings do you need? A "point of no return" warning? Pussy, what kind of game did you play until that point?

And stop whining about the last memory. You knew where it was. The castle fell first and Link did not die there. Obviously his FINAL memory would be the one of him dying. Why is this so hard to understand?

What made Zelda unlock her "power" in the last memory isn't something cheesy like the power of emotions. It's the first time she was brave enough to put herself in front of someone she wanted to protect.

She was already "wise" enough. She was a geek. She already had the power, but locked away. She needed courage to reach the balance necessary to not lose the Triforce immediately on touch.

>>
>>171744328
I don't think a regular Lynel would be a problem with plateau gear. Mounting doesn't waste durability so as long you keep a claymore or something intact you'd be fine.
>>
>>171744186
No. We saw it when Zelda banished Ganon, at the end. There is a symbol of the Triforce in the Sanctum.

The king has a armguard thing that features three small triangles on the back of the hand. It's like a hint to the Triforce, but it's like "not there" since the three pieces are small and not connected. It's like "the pieces would go there, but they are not here". I noticed it because the camera zoomed to it when he said that he "was powerless".

Those 4 appearances are the only ones I can think of. Two are symbols of it, the other two are actual appearances. Not even once they talk about "the golden power", or "Triforce". They lost their knowledge about it.

The "sealing power" either refers to the Triforce and they forgot what it actually does, or it refers to a magic that allows the royal family to access the Triforce. Like a security system that ensures that the Triforce wouldn't be touched by someone out of balance in their virtues.

Heck, I even think they even twisted the meaning of the springs. The royal princesses were not meant to pray there. That does nothing, as we know. They were meant to reach balance in their virtues. But the true meaning got lost and forgotten over time.

>>171744436
How do you "take" one's courage? She never had to be courageous before since he and the royal guard protected her.

It's funny how Zelda instinctively tries to do the right things. She strays off by herself, becomes a geek by herself. All the king and the court did is block her development and keep her potential locked.

Question regarding Lynels - It seems I advanced too far with the game and all it spawn are Silver Lynel. From my experience, the Lynel that spawns in the mountain near Zora Village is always vanilla, no matter how many times I beat him. So, cis-white scum Lynels. Is there any that still spawn around the world? I need to photograph his freaking weapons.

The Lynel in the gatehouse near the Sanctum should be white.

they refuse to work together. a single Lynel can be overwhelmed by all the various monsterS Ganon has working for him. As for Hyrule itself Lynels seem to grab some territory and not wander outside of it so if the people leave them to their devices they leave them to theirs

It's on the other side of the mountain, you will need to find the Stone Doors. If you find where you are suppose to snowboard, then you will get told to avoid them. Go down the snowboard course, but turn right instead of left when it starts to curve, you will find them.

Use Cryonis to form a bridge over the gap and use the snowballs on the hill to hit the door with enough force.

The first one is the only one that's generally similar but even then you're playing a really basic top down hack n slash made for the NES/famicom. The combat in BotW is not really like any past title (I mean, it can be if you're a boring fuck but like 90% of the combat mechanics are new). The open-world exploring aspect, free-form gameplay with no specific order you have to take most content in and high density of small secrets to find are what make me compare it to the original. Others might compare it to Wind Waker for this but WW is really nothing like BotW, WW is not an open world but actually a giant poorly-rendered nautical-themed loading screen between islands, the bulk of which are about the size of for instance makar island in BotW.

As others have said, the larger focus on interesting characters and sidequests is more akin to Majora's Mask, but you ought to play Ocarina of Time before MM. MM also has much less of a world to explore but the sidequests are generally better, and it is also heavily dependent on a time travel mechanic that resets the world every few hours which undoes the good deeds you do (but you keep the rewards).

If you like the "having your ass forcefully penetrated over and over" aspect there's the CD-i games but good luck with that, zelda 2 adventure of link is a bit like that as well

That said, if you like the puzzles, any 3D zelda should be good for you and the ideal order to play those in would be OoT->MM->TP->WW imo (though I haven't played SS and can't tell you if it's even worth playing, and don't have a very high opinion of windwaker regardless), and you can easily emulate most of the 2D titles for free so you should probably at least check those out, I suggest starting with the original and then going to a link to the past or the oracle games. AVOID phantom hourglass and spirit tracks, the DS titles, they're really fucking trash and almost universally regarded as the worst in the series.

There is. Tunic of the Wild is CD-i Link's tunic. And Zelda says the meme name at the end but I doubt it was that way in Moonspeak.

I'm serious btw, the only difference is that CD-i Link actually has pants (that are off-colour from his gambeson, so you can nail the look with hylian pants). Pic related, you can also look at the other tunics here
http://imgur.com/a/QWNvr
and see that this is the only one with the correct collar for CD-i Link and despite many people noting the similarities to original Link the collar is wrong (that was a v-neck).

You can also get so hungry you eat an octorok in this game.

>>171761635
On the tapestry you can see that the tunic is blue but splotched with green, as if it was originally green and the dye decayed somehow to blue. Presumably the idea is that it's been so fucking long (literally 10,000 years) since the last cycle of the legend (when ganon got fucked into the sacred realm so hard by the Beasts that he took this long to come back) that minor details like the colour of the hero's legendary vestments were lost, and with only that tapestry to go on it would appear that he traditionally wore a blue tunic. It's literally just "this takes place so long after any other game that people have completely forgotten what Link's traditional clothing looks like."

So I was out looking for a Pro Controller and couldn't find one but I managed to nab a Guardian Amiibo. Is it worth keeping it in the package to resell at some point or are they not that rare?
>>
>>171763685
They're the giant columns that were under Hyrule Castle where all the guardian were. Zelda writes about not being able to find them in her research journal. I assumed Ganon was able to make em rise up when he took over.
>>
>>171763943
Wasn't one of Zelda's theories that she couldn't find them because they probably activated automatically when Ganon got released?
>>
so is 30 hearts max and you can't get any yellow hearts above 30?
>>
>>171764083
Aren't the rows 13 long with a cap of two rows for 26 hearts?
>>
>>171764083
Yes, thirty is the max. If you have thirty red hearts you won't get any yellow hearts from food or special beds.

If you want max stamina the most red hearts you can get is 27, leaving room for three yellow hearts. 30 is still the max, though.

>>171764203

okay cool, I mean I think I'm gonna get myself to 15 hearts then focus on stam until it's maxed, it's easy enough to make hearty foods with 15 hearts. (3 hearty durian, 1 hearty radish, or 5 hearty radish, or 3 big hearty radish, whichever you have the most of)
>>
>>171764639
That's fair, I did the same thing. As soon as I was able to get the Master Sword I put the points into stamina instead. It's pretty gratifying being able to leap your way up a mountain, having all of that stamina to fall back on is so relaxing compared to how tense the beginning of the game was.

Can I just use a campfire multiple times until a blood moon spawns for that shrine quest? if yes do I wait until morning every time
>>
>>171764846
The fire goes out upon resting, but you can reignite the same pile of wood if you so desire.
>>
>>171764931
that I know, so the answer to the question whether I can repeatedly use a campfire to spawn the blood moon is yes?
>>
>>171764846
Just play the game normally and as soon as you notice there's a bloodmoon either:
>If there's enough time to travel, go to the Lord of the Mountain shrine and glide down to the altar
>Else, reload last autosave and travel to the altar.
Don't waste your time camping on it.
>>
>>171764819

it's temporary hearts that I can't refill just by eating regular food or resting in an inn, so it's not a waste to get up to 30 hearts
>>
>>171764846
Nope. You have to actually play the game, just waiting for time to pass doesn't trigger it.

There's a guy outside of the stable near the Dueling Peaks that tells you if there's gonna be a Blood Moon that night. Just kill some enemies around there and ask him, if he says no wait until the next morning and repeat until he says yes, then just go the shrine and wait until it happens.

>>

Yep. That's the easiest way. Just camp out on the pedestal.

No. You sleep until night, check if the pedestal is lit up and keep the cycle going if it isn't. the pedestal will light up if there's gonna be a Blood Moon that night.

>>171765040
Wrong

>>171765089
Just use a fire weapon and camp out near the pedestal. If you get unlucky with rain, you can always find a sheltered spot to pass the rainy night.

They're probably what's containing Ganon in Hyrule castle. Zelda is weakening him so he can't overcome that barrier but the king implies something about the castle itself has contained Ganon.

>>
Do you think they named their strategy to use these ancient machines to protect Hyrule from Ganon "Defense of the Ancients"?
>>
>>171765958

all I know is that at 13 hearts, a bolt of lightning or a guardian beam or a lynel arrow will make me use a fairy. IE I just got 1 shot. At 30 hearts, They will still take me down to like 5 hearts in 1 hit.
>>
>over 65 hours in
>still not bored in the slightest
How is this possible? Weeks later, I still cannot believe this game exists.
>>
>>171765509
1 hearty radish at 15 hearts max and 1 current is worth 17 hearts of healing, 5 is worth 29. That means you're getting about 1/3 the mileage from your radishes. At 27 hearts (max if you max out stamina fully) you get no additional benefits from multiple radishes. If you have ~30 defence or higher basically nothing is going to oneshot you from 10 hearts or more (less than what you need for the master sword), and you can hit that from 7 hearts with 1 radish. In case you don't follow, you could make five 3 temporary heart and full recovery meals instead of one 15 heart full recovery meal and if you're being hit by something scary enough that you actually want that much health the difference is going to be that with the 5 radish meals you'll be spending 5 radishes every 2 times you get hit and with the 1 radish meal you'll be spending 1 radish every time you get hit. And that's a temporary problem since you'll eventually have enough hearts that you literally can't reap the meager benefits of using multiple radishes.
>>
>>171766171
>all I know is that at 13 hearts, the three easiest-to-avoid hazards in the game can oneshot me
I mean yeah that's to punish you for getting hit. You can literally block two of those and avoid the other by not wearing metal objects in a thunderstorm.
>>
>>171766483

welp currently I have upgraded SOME of my gear twice but not all of it, the only way I can reach 30 defense is by wearing 2 soldier's pieces and my champion's tunic (which has only been upgraded once, I'm currently trying to get a horn off Farosh but keep getting scales) A lynel or guardian can one shot me currently.

I know regular places to get lots of hearty durians and hearty radishes so I"m not as worried about wasting them than I am about getting 1 shot because I mistimed a parry on a guardian.

>I'm currently trying to get a horn off Farosh but keep getting scales
Have you taken a scale to the fountain in the south yet? Pretty sure it won't drop horns until you do.

>because I mistimed a parry on a guardian
It's the easiest parry to time and even if you have trouble you can just block it to avoid the damage while fighting it (it wears through shields fast but the hylian shield is ludicrously easy to get and can take like 80 lasers before it breaks), or get some distance from decayed guardians and run around them to avoid the laser, or shoot them in the eye to disable their laser for several seconds. The latter especially is the lowest-skill way to consistently deal with any guardian.
>>
>>171767129
>Cheating

No I haven't taken any scales anywhere yet... I don't know where the fountain is.

>lynel arrow is eastiest to avoid hazard

Those niggers can hit you even when they can't see you, they can arc an arrow up in the air and hit you THROUGH a cave roof.
>>
>>171767469
>they can arc an arrow up in the air and hit you THROUGH a cave roof
the raining arrows can literally be avoided at the crawling speed you go at while aiming a bow by just strafing. Unless you're climbing for an extended period or going afk in lynel aggro range you shouldn't be hit by them. Also you should just be avoiding rather than fighting lynels if you have this much trouble with the game and none of your armour is upgraded more than twice. Wait until later when you can cheese them with beast powers.

Honestly, unironically the motion control marble maze one. Even if it probably is shit from an 'objective' standpoint, the thrill of 'cheating' it (as it seems basically everyone did) makes still stand out in my mind as one of the game's highlights. It was where it really sunk in for me that this would a be a different sort of Zelda game, where critical thinking would actually be rewarded.

Really all they needed to do was slap 4 or 5 shrines together, sprinkle some mobs in between, then make a boss.
>>
>>171770731
Idk why people hype up the dungeons in zelda games so much desu. Outside of a few exceptions (several of MM's dungeons, OoT's water temple come to mind) they were never interesting or thought provoking. Just complete this childishly trivial "puzzle" (push blocks down a set path, etc) to open this door to the next trivial puzzle, to get the key to open the next door to the next trivial puzzle, repeat until you fight a boss. While the 'dungeons' in this game were short, Vah Naboris alone was packed with more novel puzzle design than the entirety of WW. Similarly I could point out some of the shrines with creative solutions that I found more enjoyable than entire TP or OoT dungeons. Quality over quantity, always.
>>
>>171768602
Kilton can accurately distinguish between the odors of any and all monsters. His dialogue when you address him is context sensitive and changes to reflect whatever the most recent monster you killed with melee attacks is. Because of the blood

>>171771756
Half of BotW's shrines are basically just straightforward minigames. The older dungeons though were a cohesive package of many smaller things that you had to explore and actually put together, like a genuine puzzle.
>>
>>171771946
No, they were almost always a series of one off puzzles with the possibility of an overarching environmental element like water levels or activating mechanisms.

The shrines are what you get when you create an entire game's worth of puzzles, but instead of stringing them together into dungeons, you spread them across the world as one time things.

It's great. I really really like it. I just wish more of the shrines were a little bigger. I recall atleast 2-3 that were almost "minidungeon" sized and had 3-4 puzzles.
>>
>>171771946
I'm not saying all of BotW's shrines are good, just using them to illustrate that I'd take one novel puzzle room over a dozen switch-flipping exercises any day.

>The older dungeons though were a cohesive package of many smaller things that you had to explore and actually put together
They really weren't though, outside of a few exceptions, as I noted. Unless you'd consider 'get the key to open the door to get the key to open the next door (of course without any ambiguity as to the order in which these steps must be performed) a genuine puzzle.
Shit like OoT's fire temple, all the child dungeons, pretty much all of WW and TP's dungeons, etc, were not good.
