For Breath of the Wild 2, what are some more classic Zelda style items that they can add in to have as actual dungeon rewards without breaking the whole 'open world' idea?

I was thinking something like the Gust Bellows, Lens of Truth, or hookshot, all of which could be used to make really neat puzzles but ones that are still totally solvable if you don't have the actual required item.

Having everything available from the outset kinda kills progression and makes dungeons much less fun. That's the reason people like dungeons in Zelda, getting items and improving and seeing the things you can do open up. Having everything available from the start is nice because you're always able to go anywhere and do anything, but on the other hand I was kinda disappointed that there was really nothing 'new' for me to learn once I got off the plateau beyond how to manipulate what I already had better. I'm not suggesting make shrines that require you to have items, I'm asking for ideas that could provide you with alternate solutions to problems. Like being able to get around using the hookshot with use of climbing, jumping, and updrafts, or getting around using bombchus by using bombs+stasis, or cheesing lens of truth puzzles through environmental hints/dropping items/good old fashioned trial and error, but having them opens up a whole new world of options.

Somehow it was the last place I went so there was a lot of buildup for me and oh boy did It not disappoint. I didn't mind the framerate because I believe they wanted the visuals to be perfect but the second I entered the lost woods I had nonstop goosebumps.The whole sequence was magical. I didn't have enough hearts at the time so it motivated me even more to get the master sword.

I honestly don't think they'll top something like this ever again.

Shame the actual sword is pretty mediocre. Still, you're right, they nailed the aesthetic. It's visually exactly what the master sword scene in alttp evoked in my imagination when I was a kid, but with way more buildup.

Spike had an idea for a "complete" run where you get true end requirements plus the master sword. It's arbitrary, like ocarina of time MST, but the routing would end up very tight eventually if it took off. MST was very popular.

I didn't initially like it as a kid, but now I really appreciate Majora's progression. Most of the items you find are outside of the dungeons, leaving the dungeons to focus on their different elemental gimmicks.

I think this could work fantastically for a BotW style game, wherein some key (possibly thematic) upgrades are saved for dungeons, and the rest are a result of exploration/world exploring.

So I guess what I want is Breath of Majora's Link Between Worlds.

Took me like two hours exploring the castle to find the shield. It was pretty much the last possible place I could've looked, so I was about to give up hope.

Forgot to save before I grabbed it, but it came out with 111. I like trips, so even though it's not 100% autistically perfect, I love it.

There are a couple doorways like that. Usually involves going around to the other side and smacking the eye. If you're talking about the one I'm thinking of, where the only other paths lead back where you came from + out of the castle onto a ledge, you can jump down to the right and there's another entrance very near.

Just make the item used in the dungeon, and then useful outside the dungeon. Like, the champion gifts could have been tweaked to be weaker with less cool down for use in solving puzzles in dungeon, then once you beat it the would work the way they do normally.

Urbosa's Fury could have solved electric type puzzles like there already were in her dungeon.
You could have been the canon ball using Daruk's Protection.

No idea how Mipha's Grace would work though, that would need some thinkin'.

At the end of the day, Nintendo needs to have the in dungeon items work like that instead of them being NECESSARY for other dungeons, or never used again. Give us actually useful stuff.

So after having fun with BOTW after roughly 40~ish hours here's my final verdict on it: it literally sucks. Don't buy it. This is a game you should only play and buy if you already want a switch, not a console seller if you have anything resembling a critic's eye. It's a shallow pool in every end imaginable. An example of when trying to be the king of everything results in being the jack of nothing. It's worth playing for maybe a 40 dollar pricetag, but as a full price triple A title? Maybe if you stack it up against it's competition it's worth it, but if you stack it up against what it /should/ be worth, it is not worth it. At all. I feel like I could've done absolutely none of what I just spent the last 2 weeks doing and been the same exact person feeling the same exact way about video games.
It needed a challenge-ended emotional result to make me feel like "yes, i just climbed a mountain and now I'm at the top" or an emotionally-ended character-driven result to make me feel like "yes, i bonded with these character and here I've seen them grow and change and seen them come to completion"

it sorely lacked both.

I like Zelda games. I have never once gone into a Zelda (or any video game) expecting a good story. Zelda's are for interacting with the fun characters, solving puzzles and a little bit of exploring.

And on the note of Skyrim, I've always found Bethesda games to be ugly, buggy and lifeless. I also don't get how Zelda get's harped on for having "Shallow" combat when people love Skyrim for it's walk up and push a button at this one guy for a minute until he dies.

Just different strokes for different folks, I really don't know what there is to discuss with you beyond this point.
