Oh boy, I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I did enjoy and like CS. On the other, there were issues that still left it as a "play once and never again" type of game for me due to a couple of gameplay issues.

1. Set stats for each digimon - This right here pissed me off big time. Doesn't matter how much time and effort you put into your digimon, it'll always have the same level of strength forever, and might even get screwed if yours isn't one of the chosen ones who get super high stats. I know the stats aren't really what made certain digimon stronger or even broken, it was their special moves (fucking Lilithmon), but even still, your favorite digimon might have a good attack but not be able to back it up with good stats, even with farm boosting, and that bothered me.

2. Battles revolve around turn order control - I don't mind turn based battles, they're not my favorite but I can live with them. What I don't like is a turn based system where a large portion of the fight is controlling the turn order, and if you can't manage to do that then you sit there doing nothing while your team gets wasted. I just found it super frustrating.

CS is the only Story game I've played, sadly, so I dunno if things were like this in previous Story games, but honestly I just hope they don't use the exact same stuff from CS in the sequel or else it might end up as another "play once and never again" game for me, which I absolutely do not want because I love Digimon.

I'm setting up a Digimon TTRPG game using Digimon Digital Adventures, and I need some help.

I'm trying to come up with some system similar to or identical to the crests in Adventure 01, and I'm not sure how to go about doing it.

My first thought is to make some kind of questionnaire for the players, and the choices they pick regarding their characters determines their crest. I'm not sure this is the best approach though, especially as I've never done a questionnaire like that before.

Also, the entire point of packs was so that you'd be able to figure out how the grid works asap but cyber sleuth doesn't even have a goddamn grid. Now all it does is automatically builds a starting team for you, which is boring

Is there anyway to oymutright catch digimon? Scanning is so tedious. They should at least let you spend a turn manually scanning digimon or something. If I see a digimon I want, then I should have a realistic method of getting it before that battle is over

If you plan to grind for scans, there is USBs you can use. You don't get many in the story though, so you will have to use the farm build function. They should really make those things a buyable item, by making them expensive, or having a limited stock instead of the only being random timed drops that you save scum for. Just have the farm build function be a little time management thing to gain extra items that you use while playing.

The problem with monster catching is that pokemon took the abso-fucking-lute best way to catch them, so everyone else needs to come up with an annoyingly gimmicky alternative. That's why I like World of Final Fantasy, that game just flat out stole the "weaken them then throw capture ball" system. That game didnt fuck around

I would prefer it to be a forced devolve that turns you into a random digimon from it's tree, but only down a single evolution. Or possibly more if you want it to be stronger. They keep all skills they've learned and change back after the battle. They don't gain any ABI of course.
