Axe is the weapon I using in most of my builds.

Though for co-op I tend to use My Whirly as my main and the axe as a secondary, and for PvP, I main the well balanced Rakuyo.

In all honesty,I prefer weapons that are fast, but still allow for powerful attacks.

Prolly why I like the Beast Claw, Chikage, Beast Cutter, Church Pick and Rifle Spear so much.

I've been switching through the PizzaCutter and the AmyArm and so far I like the Arm better. It hits harder, staggers harder and does insane damage, with beastly reach and satisfying sounds.

Maybe I don't know how to use it, but the PizzaCutters don't multihit as often and the untricked form feels useless. If you feel like, please redpill me on it.

Sorry, man. I actually don't use the Pizza Cutter either. It doesn't interest me at all. It being serrated makes it disgustingly good against beasts, but I still prefer the Saw Cleaver or Spear, or the Church Pick. Stacking as much damage as possible is a real joy.

Some moves have Super armor. Other than than it's mainly just doing a crap-ton of damage. SOme humanoid bosses don't really have any poise to speak of though so you can basically do whatever.

Usually a very specialized weapon backed up by a reliable secondary. I'm currently doing Boom Hammer backed by Hunter Axe, and have a Tonitrus/Beast Claw down the line for a Spark Hunter.
However, using weapons that pair well with each other (Rifle Spear/Reiterpallasch/Bowblade) is also a favorite of mine. As long as the weapons can build on each other, or back each other up, it's good enough for me.

Tonitrus as a main weapon for the sheer Bolt damage, Beast Claw as a faster secondary for Bolt-resistant enemies. It more or less works, the only reason it didn't for me the first time around is because I had a shoddy attribute distribution.
Besides, the Beast Claw fits into the Spark Hunter credo, what with being made from Darkbeast bones.

Starting class was violent past guy. Highest strength to start. I just found the beast cutter weapon from the DLC. Is it good for a pure strength build if I slap nothing but +Blunt damage into it? I'm currently using the Hunter's Axe as my main weapon. But the beast cutter is SO DAMNED COOL.

Also what level did you guys start the DLC? I tried at 58 and I got my shit pushed in like Bible camp all over again. That big axe wielding guy with the squid face at the beginning of the DLC fucked me up good.

I've beaten him once by myself. I couldn't fucking believe it. Also, I don't remember there ever being any music. It was just me, and him. I know there is music for the fight, but I was so fucking honed in. I hadn't tried to fight for him for a good two weeks, then I switched to a STR build and gave it a shot.

Did you have a +10 weapon before going to the DLC? My axe is still at +8. Also where do you get blood slabs from? Chunks are decently easy enough to run across late game but I've only ever found a single slab.

And it's odd. The beastcutter does blunt damage, has the worst rally potential of damned near all weapons, but still has slashing damage against beasts. True oddball of a weapon.

Lastly, is at level 73, should I start shooting some points into Arcane? What is considered the best level to stop at for PvE? I eventually intend to take this character into NG+. I wanted to make use of the boomhammer. Is it worth investing into Arcane for that?

There's one blood rock in Mensis after you drop mother brain, and another in a side path in the DLC, right before the Orphan fight.

If it's for PvE, you can stop as high as you want. 25 and 50 are the caps for the stats, barring END, so with that in mind, you'll probably want to hit these caps instead of pumping everything to 99 randomly. Stop at ~100 if you plan to do co-op with randoms, though. If not, go wild.
+8 for the DLC is absolutely perfect. I didn't have a +10 before going through it either. There are only two Blood Rocks in the game outside of chalice dungeons: one in Mensis, the other at the end of the DLC.

I don't even have PSN and while I'd enjoy co-op, I'm focusing on killing every single boss solo first. Looking up the boom hammer, it gets an A scaling in strength at +10 but only C in arcane. Think I'm just going to stay pure strength. I may bump my skill to 13 though so I can use the cannon.

I feel like a scrub having only played strength builds thus far. I sincerely tried a skill build (repeating pistol, saw spear, rifle spear) and I found it agonizing. I may go pure arcane next build though.

Boom Hammer really doesn't need much ARC investment. You're already level 78, so just continue as a STR build. If you absolutely want to, take ARC to 25 and use some Hunter Tools.

Other Blood Rocks can be bought using insight (60 a piece), or dropped by chalice dungeon bosses (also looted, but only one per dungeon). You'll need to run the dungeons anyways if you want the best gems.

It wasn't until I played BB that I saw how batlantly lazy they were in Dark Souls 3, not only reusing assets, but refusing to give weapons proper movesets. Stay at the very tip or her tail and hug it. Do not attempt to attack. Just stick to it, she'll jump.

When she jumps, STAND STILL, she will miss and her head will be exposed, hit it ONCE and run back to her tail. If you ever get greedy you will die. If she's doing the stomp or the backward clawing, you're too close to her. Good luck on her cursed version.

Unlock and attack her ONLY after a headslam. A lot of this fight comes down to luck of how many times she does the headslam. Bolt paper helps a lot to damage her, but they are expensive so keep them for the end of the battle.

When she does the charge, run to the right.
When she does the missile attack, run away from her diagonally to any direction, because she can follow up with a charge before the missiles even end

If you can't dodge her charge for the love of god, not even unlocked. Just take it. Stand still and let it hit you, it shouldn't damage you as much as a missed dodge.

I just killed her! 4th try. Kept my axe in tricked mode + bolt paper (all I had on me. No fire paper). The Axe's tricked form kept hitting her head. When I got her to 50% HP, she like started shuddering in place and there was a high pitched ringing noise that didn't do anything. As she was doing that though, I managed to stagger her and go for the visceral. She didn't shoot beams at all. Did I do it wrong?

HOLY SHIT. I just completed Mensis Nightmare and am in the area with all the frenzy inducing brain bitches. They're a joke. I have a rune with +200 frenzy resist. Then another rune with +100 all resistances. My frenzy bar is FUCKING HUGE. I have it down to a science now. Attack 3 times. Dash backwards and use i-frames to ignore their grab, straight into a running attack. Chug 1 sedative. Rinse and repeat. And my beast cutter is officially at +10.

Getting +270 attack at 50 strength. Has anyone honestly ever had a problem with weapon durability in the first place? I don't think I've had to repair my weapon even once.

After dying a gorillion times at the place while trying to traverse it and being invaded, I actually memorized its layout.

To get the Gift, drop down into the poison river as soon as you met the first beast. Turn left and follow the river. If you end up in the open area with the stone throw fuckers, you went to opposite way. If you go the right way you can't miss it, it's at the end of the cave.

To get the Deep Sea, it's easier to start from Amy. Drop into the poison puddle right before it and hug the wall to the right. Keep following it and you'll eventually run into the Deep Sea Rune. If you're lucky you won't even run into the Frenzy lady.

The Lanterns are valuable for farming, between the gems and the Echoes. I've always wanted to send that one guarding the Choir Bell through the rafters. Maybe now that I'm using a Gatling Gun and the Boom Hammer, I can make that dream a reality.

Also, is the gatling gun a good damage dealer as an all rounder? I have my cannon at +9 and will be getting the 2nd blood rock from the DLC having used my first on the +10 beast cutter. Should I +10 the gatling gun or the cannon?

As it stands I do around 1200 damage with a single cannon blast with bone marrow ash. And thats only when it was at +8.

Or should I fully upgrade the strength based "arm" weapon from the DLC? Or the boom hammer?! Oh god help me.

Seriously though, it's a pretty great weapon all around. Tricked charged R2s are almost cheese material, tricked R1s have a massive attack arc, and it has great dodge attacks as well. The untricked moveset is a bit more limited, but is still relatively strong, the forward dash attack comes out surprisingly fast. All around I found it to be more exciting to use than the boomhammer, which felt somehow more sluggish despite being more or less close in terms of swing speed. Maybe it's because of having to press L1 constantly, I dunno.

Cursed gems from Lower Pthum Watcher guarding the lever are around 20%. If you have Hamlet unlocked already, farm the Winter Lanterns for 22.3% Physical droplets. With all that, BB Pellets and either Bolt Paper or Empty Phantasm Shell you'll be able to rip Laurence a new one.

They're actually completely different. Those NPC signs are exclusively NPC signs, I can see how why you'd think so. Here's how it works for actual human co-op:

You ring your Beckoning Bell, and depending upon your location and level, you'll summon somebody within a certain level range. People generally tend to ring at lamps and boss fog, there's no actual visual indicator as to whether there's a single person in the area. You can also set a password (System>Network>Matchmaking: Worldwide>Password), people with that password and only them will be summoned into your world. Summoning someone takes one Insight, but if you use the silencer (a separate item in your inventory) before you have summoned someone (like you're sitting by a lamp for fifteen minutes with no one being summoned), no Insight is consumed.

Being summoned using the Small Resonant Bell is basically the same thing, except you don't have to spend any Insight, password rules apply, you and only you and anyone else with a password will be summoned.

No worries, anon. The thing is there's just no visual indicator for summons, so it's kind of blind luck. Some areas have more traffic than others, the DLC especially has most traffic, and the Nightmare Frontier and Nightmare of Mensis are the only two places in the game you can be invaded naturally, so those are PVP hotspots. Also, using your beckoning bell summons a bell maiden who will summon invaders if there are any.

one thing to add, there is no level cap for coop if you use a password. your stats will just get re-adjusted.
