There is NO implication in the Wrex Cure ending that the krogan will be dickheads again. Compare krogan playing with and cuddling their kids, and laying out plans for rebuilding those big pyramid things, to Wreav's Cure, where he is shown *rallying an entire army of krogan.*

If Wrex says he's gonna stop the krogan from getting revenge, he is. No one except the worst would dare disobey the Man Who Cured the Genophage. Eve ensures that all krogan, even the worst, will fall in line.

No, the real question is why they didn't bring along a QEC.

Think about it.

For those casuls who don't remember, a QEC is a Quantum Entanglement Communicator. One was installed on the second Normandy that allowed communication with TIM, and later expanded to allow communication with Earth and a few other places.

A QEC works using particles that are quantum linked. A change in one particle produces an immediate change in another particle.

This produces lag-free communication. It's expensive as fuck, but each ark could certainly afford one or two.

I'm not a quantum physicist, but I can see no reason they wouldn't still work between different galaxies. The whole point of these communicators is that distance doesn't matter. You can send near-instantaneous messages no matter where you are. And this tech was available in ME2.

The only reason the arks can't communicate with the Milky Way is because the writers are lazy hacks who didn't pay any attention to the trilogy's lore.

All three endings are acceptable choices.

Destroy: fits with the theme of "preserving free will", is the most morally sound outcome, represents humanity's will to survive and find our own path

Control: fits with the theme of "small sacrifice to prevent greater evil", is the most profitable outcome, represents the need to create order out of chaos

Synthesis: fits with the theme of "new life born from death", is the most spiritually fulfilling outcome, represents the necessity of death and destruction in order to create new life instead of wasting away trying to put off the inevitable

Each fits with a consistent theme of the series, each can be considered the 'best' option according to different systems of morality. Really, the only 'best' choice is to roleplay as a unique Shepard, then make the choice based on what that Shepard's experiences. Did you find that every life, every mind is precious and must be made free to determine their own path no matter how hard that path may be? Did you find that the galaxy is a terrible place and that only through self-sacrifice and the intervention of a higher power can we hope to live in peace? Curing the genophage doesn't make sense. The krogan were violent and self-destructive before they were ever infected with the genophage. If it is cured all that will happen is history will repeat itself.

Wrex only wanted preserve the cure in ME1 because he had only just learned about it that very second and probably was a bit panicked over the choices before him. He knew he didn't want to help Saren, he knew his people have a sick culture that will be their undoing, but he also knows a higher birthrate might at least give them a little more breathing room before extinction, and he knew Shepard's mission was now possibly contrary to his own goals.

He panicked.

Earlier in the game if you talk to him about the krogan he says OUTRIGHT that "The genophage may have infected us, but it's not what's killing us." He then tells you the story about the aftermath of the Rebellions and how he tried to get his father and other krogan clans to work together and stop fighting, to just focus on breeding. It didn't work... they were too competitive with one another.

That caused Wrex to lose hope, like many other krogan, and he left his homeworld and became a merc. Then he meets Shepard and finds a worthy cause to fight for as an honorable warrior (he tells you this on Virmire during the confrontation), and when a cure is dropped in his lap he doesn't know what to do.

That's why he argues with Shepard in the first place instead of just fleeing or trying to kill him. That's the whole reason there is even a confrontation there: Wrex doesn't know what to do.

Then in ME2 you have to read between the lines. Mordin's former student went to Wrex first and was willing to work on a cure. Wrex refused, said his means were too harsh. However then he directed Shepard to the rival clan where he was working and never once tipped Shepard off about the cure. He seems willing to leave it up to Shepard to possibly destroy any new research into a cure.

It makes sense, because the way Wrex has amassed and holds onto power among the krogan is by controlling females. He decides who has access to him and so other clans are forced to give in to his demands and reforms or else their clans will whither and die.

If the genophage is cured though then only a handful of females outside of Wrex's immediate grasp can tip the balance. There will be no incentive for krogan to listen to Wrex. They can all just breed as much as they want and in a few generations they'll have amassed armies. The overpopulation that thrust the krogan species into conflict with the other races in the past will return once more.
