I built a few sentry bots and put them on long provision routes across most of the Commonwealth as patrol robots, it's fun when I occasionally run into one of them wasting raiders or mutants somewhere.

It's rare to randomly run into one of them for me, mostly because most of them are cris-crossing downtown Boston and I don't often go there, but it's a cool feeling seeing my bots out there doing some good.

She runs the office of the Sentinel of the Commonwealth. (I roleplay/pretend my character as sort of a military governor for the BoS.) She compiles information, coordinates civilian salvage teams, helped setup the postal service, and mediates between Minutemen and BoS (and soon Operators).

She is the reason my character has accurate settlement stats on his pipboy. She's also the reason/explanation for a lot of the quest pop-ups. Like "Defend X!", or "Go meet person Y.", or "Your salvage has arrived." Whenever I get a message like that, I imagine Cait on the other end of the radio.

Marriage.

Skyrim had all that stuff with the Amulets of Mara, and the temple in Riften, and it even had an entire quest that was one of my favorite given to you by the priestess of Mara in Riften. About the girl near mount hrothgar and the ghost couple who find each other.

So I would make a small dlc where the church in Diamond City gets marriages scheduled, and the people that are couples but not married in the area, like Travis and the son from the farm near Quincy and Lucy Abernathy and the guy she has a crush on, you have a bunch of quests about getting them all together and playing cupid basically.

Then of course part of the dlc is the church performs marriages and you can get one. There are already wedding rings in the game, that get no use after the cryo pod scene.

Much like with the amulet of mara, people would have dialogue if you have a un-worn ring in your inventory/on a chain necklace, and would have dialogue about proposing and all that.

Mods have already begun to address a lot of these things though.

So economics would be another idea. You can set up an industry and have actual deals with all the named traders with new dialogue about prices and distribution. You can go the evil route and do jet/pycho empire or the good route and do a purified water empire. You can watch as pries adjust to supply/demand, and you can set your prices high to gouge or low to help people. The quest can be about wresting a prewar production facility from a named raider who is setting up a price gouging racket with chems he makes at the facility.

As for the phrase "real" marriage, a "real" marriage in one both people believe in, and explicitly state they want to do. Without the marriage laws we have irl now, that's pretty much it. The Abernathys and the Finches probably just got hitched at ALl Faiths Chapel by Clements, and that was it. They believed in each other and wanted to settle down, and that was that.

We don't actually know if Geneva has a marriage registry for the commonwealth, but it actually doesn't matter if she does or not.

There are a lot of different definitions of marriage, from history and the globe, and if we drop the societal legal definitions and just find a baseline that is shared by 90% of people who have had a concept of marriage, then we just find generic things like having kids, living together, being devoted, most definitions but not all include exclusivity, and a few other things.

The idea of a real or fake marriage is inherently flawed.

And as for why do it, the answer is because I want to", and that's not meant to be smart ass. I actually mean that the only reason to get married, in fallout or irl, is if you want to. If the people who are together in a serious relationship dont care about the word "marriage", then that's fine. I really wish there was more choices in the companion quests in fallout 4, like there should be a choice to instead convince cait that the chems are only making her stronger if you're playing as a raider/chem addict character, or convince curie to stay as a robot because her being immortal means that she can continually benifiet mankind as long as she wants and so I can keep her as an assaultron
the fact that both fallout 3 and 4 continually try to push into your head whats "morally good" and whats "the right thing to do" is bullshit.

The reason to get married is because it makes you happy. The same reason as the music on the radio, and masturbating, and travis having the job he has, and a bunch of other trivial things. Humans like doing silly things and doing unnecessary things for the sake of happiness.

This attitude also fails to take into account the real and semi-tangible effects these "happiness" things have on mental health. A lot of the dumb unnecessary things humans do is for the sake of stress relief or making themselves happy. These have positive effects on mental and subsequently physical health.

Anyway, as for the original topic, marriage is just one of the things that some people do simply because they want to, and this is the reason that is timeless and crosses time and global borders.

This is just a symptom of bad game design.

If you do something, and it causes something that bares no relation to the thing you did, then the devs did something wrong when designing the game.

This is exemplified in New Vegas where Boone goes crazy and kills his former CO and himself in one ending, despite what you telling him having nothing to do with that, or even suggesting it, or even remotely hinting that he should think that is a viable solution to his problems.

It's literally nothing more then a shitty "gotcha!" moment from devs trying to justify their outdated as fuck game design in the modern day.

It would take years for them to fully secure The Commonwealth. The BoS's only current mission is to secure The Commonwealth, and track down the remaining synths.

With Both the Capital Wasteland and The Commonwealth under their control, they would control basically all of the upper east coast at this point.

You wouldn't. The whole point of The Institue questline is based around the idea that you support the Institue's ideas and goals as they are now.

You, as director, as stated by Shaun, only exist to mediate disputes between the other departments, and the departments themselves are otherwise fairly autonomous.

One wasteland farm kitchen. Fully lit and decorated. Ignore the brushwood. It looks like I'll have to remove it with the CK, because all the scrap-shit mods I tried cause more problems than they solve.

The light feels suboptimal (And I just noticed that the two lamps in the back are at different heights. Fuck the snapping on those things.), but I still have to look for mods to fix the whole workshop lighting mess.

It did not actually take me an hour to do just this. It was still much more time than a grown man should spend on decorating virtual kitchens, though.

Not everyone believes it of course, as I'm sure there's some people here who played 1 and 2 who think Fallout 3 is alright. But there's enough of a group to make images and compile videos explaining the game's glaring issues and elaborating on why they're less a sequel to Fallout 2 and more a sequel to Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Similar complaints exist for Fallout 4, though not for the same reason. I haven't played the game, but basic programming errors from 3 to 4 (like lifting in-game objects to clip through walls and teleport) I've seen numerous examples of.

But that's not the issue either. The REAL issue is whenever someone complains about 3 or 4, you're told to "go back to NMA" or some such bullshit as if differing opinions aren't allowed in the thread. No, the thread as you and so many others believe should only be home to big titty mod screenshots and jerking off over waifus. In other words the same fucking garbage that ruined /esg/, and honestly too many /vg/ threads in general. So of course they want to go to /v/ to escape your stupid ass, and they've been doing it for over a year now until the mod decided it's suddenly not okay.

Realistically, New Vegas was made so that Bethesda could skulk behind the Obsidian developers' backs, watching what they did and writing down what was effective in 3D Fallout. This is made especially evidence by Fallout 4's plot being a mix of the mediocre "find your lost relative' Fallout 3 plot, and the more effective (yet still stupid and simple because Bethesda) "pick a faction and support/help them obtain the plot device." They barely used anything they learned because they're lazy, but you can pick apart Fallout 4 and trace some "new" feature back to something New Vegas conceived.

You sure as shit can be sure those developers will never get to touch the series again.

I wouldn't frame it that maliciously, they wanted something to fill the void between 3 and the next fallout game, and tying their new 3D version of the IP to the original devs in some way would help to secure their legitimacy.

Afterwards they looked at what people liked and tried to implement it, some worked, weapons mods for instance, and others didn't, their working with factions, they did the same thing with mods, looking at what people liked and putting them in the game, settlements.

You can view that as them skulking around picking at the remains of other games or at an attempt to add in things that were popular in the community, I wouldn't make it out to be as evil as you do but you are right.

I've been struggling with this problem. Basically Build a Vault Tech Computer and recall them or a bell and wait 24 hours.

If they don't exist, they won't show up on the computer and thus you won't be able to remove the supply line.

I think the fact that I can rig models now really fucked with him, he's losing any last trace of composure that he used to have. Rigging models was like the only sort of modding he ever did in /tesg/, and even then, it was mainly hats and stuff like mustaches...and my learning of it I'm pretty sure has shaken him to the core, judging by his past actions and current actions. Especially since the day when he begrudgingly asked for help with OS, and then throwing a temper tantrum when he couldn't get it to work.

For the longest time I didn't even think it was him doing all this shit, the way he would do all of the shit he's done anonymously, and I'd think to myself "Not even Izzy is this pathetic" or "That shit was so long ago, I really really doubt this is him." Its the type of site you'd likely find loads of pirated anime on, and if a file got reported, they'd likely get ignored or told to fuck off, unless it was full blown CP. In some ways monster rigging and power armor rigging is even easier than certain outfits from other games.

But I did get a great deal of satisfaction from the various receivers I made for my upcoming Plasma caster mod. Most of its chopped up prefabs, but I still like the end result. I think this will look a hundred times better when I texture it how I want. It felt awesome making concept art and the end result looking way better than what I had drawn.

I had an idea for a buildable settlement machine that absorbs radiation and stores it passively in settlements. But I think I might just include that with the Plasma caster mod, as a way to farm tons of nuclear materials to make the ammo.

The machine will require buttloads of lead, copper, and other semi-rare materials. Early on you could build a few, but end game guys could probably make an entire field of them in some settlement they don't use and just have gobs of material to make stuff with.

I'll probably make it unlock by finding the schematic somewhere

I have so many materials, I am eagerly awaiting an Automatron based "Build your own Liberty prime" so I can build around a dozen of them to protect the Commonwealth. There are lots of raider looking armors so you look the part, the nuka world dlc of course, and Live Dismemberment for that Raider combat feeling. Oh and the Raider Overhaul adds like a bunch of clothing and armors to the raiders including the Forged so you can distinguish which raider faction you're from easier. I was going to make a unique recipe

2 glass + 2 aluminum + 25 nuclear material + 10 acid = 25 plasma caster ammo. I might also make bulk recipes. Like 100, 500, 1000.

I will also be making a unique barrel called the plasma cannon, which changes ammo to Max charge plasma caster ammo, and that ammo will require 50 plasma caster ammo to make. Plasma cannon will be a hard hitting and really expensive weapon, similar to Fatman, but it will also work with any receiver: For example if you were resource heavy, you could technically make a fully automatic plasma cannon that just utterly decimates everything in its general direction, but literally hundreds of nuclear materials and acid will be spent with every volley. That is kinda why Im also implementing the radiation collector device.

This weapon's going to be insanely adaptable. You can just make it a single shot, a plasma minigun, a plasma thrower with range longer than 15 feet, or a single shot cannon, or a plasma flak cannon a la Nuclear Throne, which was the idea behind the cannon attachment to begin with.

I'm also probably going to introduce a bulk acid crafting recipe too. Bags of fertilizer give 4 fertilizer and 1 acid, so I might make a recipe like 20 fertilizer = 10 acid.

1,250 caps for the nuclear material to make 25 ammo. Considering its only 25 shots, that is pretty damn expensive already.

1 Plasma cannon ammo will cost like 2500+ caps. At least with how I have it set up.

25 fusion cells = ~75~ caps
25 plasma cartridges = ~75~ caps
25 plasma caster ammo = ~1,250 + all the other materials~

I'm also going to make the Radiation collector require like 100 to 250 lead to create, and a lot of copper, maybe also fiber optics and other misc parts, circuitry, etc. I haven't started balancing all this yet though, I may change my tune once I start testing this all out in game.
