My problem was less the romance shit, and more the fact that they intentionally used Sally as a death device to draw Sonic being scared and OOC. That's probably why they gave her proper weapons in the reboot.

I DID kind of like the stakes pre-reboot, where they weren't actually afraid to nearly kill people off. It kind of really hammered shit in, because if motherfucking SONIC is scared and upset, there's definitely a problem. So far the highest we've gotten was Panic In The Sky, where Nicole died for like 10 seconds and then didn't (though I'm still pretty damn convinced Phage took her place).

Mostly in that it's homogenous in a way that doesn't even happen naturally. They put so much effort in trying to make tgeir inking precise and even that their levels of pressure and speed are completely lost.

They also didn't consider line width. Thickness should be used to convey intensity and balance the image, but almost every line is the same. Her cleavage is a single relatively thick line with approximately the same width as the outline of her thighs. That's just bad.

"Stiff" lineart can come from a number of different factors, but the main ones are pose, angle, depth and line weight.

That image is at a neutral angel (straight on eye level), with fairly neutral poses (3/4 perspective standing upright with VERY slight limb articulation), with almost uniform lineart and very little sense for depth. On their own these aren't bad things, but together they make an image devoid of energy or feeling. They aren't dynamic, they aren't at rest, they look like mannequins. I don't have the panel but Knuckles and Shadow fighting each other then Shadow falls in the water with Knuckles helping him, then the two go right back to fighting each other. To be fair, Goku as a person was pretty much complete by the time he married Chi Chi. Contrast that with Bunnie, who had Antoine there at almost every important event in her life. I think it'd be more like "What if Vegeta never met Bulma" levels of change. It'd be noticeable and change the course of their character, but it wouldn't make them unrecognizable .
