I finished adding all the weapon stories (the nier ones are included in grimoire nier) outside of nier automata and I added the translation to the highschool comedy part of the Nier drama CD.
Some other anon is working on translating the 10th anniversary timeline.
Things that are left to be translated in order of priority:
Drakengard 1.3
Drakengard 3 novelization summary (from french, I met an anon who was willing to do it but I lost his email unfortunately)
Ending E The Lost World (there's only a summary available)
Around the world in 80 days (there's also a secondhand translation from a chinese fan translation which is kinda wonky, but at least it's there)
Are you guys interested in other stuff? I guess I can upload the soundtracks and the special disc from the 10th anniversary box next week.
I was thinking of also uploading the undub version of 1, 2 and Nier but most of the fanbase seems to prefer the english dub so I wouldn't know if it'd be worth it

Before dod3 came out all the side stuff was getting translated really quickly by different people, by now there's only rekka alexiel because youtube replaced everything. I hope she actually finishes
the World Guide side stories, she seems to lose interest in projects pretty quickly. I'm surprised nobody else picked up translating Drakengard 1.3 since that book seems crazy good.

I do prefer the japanese dubs in general because that's how I played the games originally, unfortunately I am too retarded to actually learn kanji so navigating the menu was kinda hard and I could not read the weapon stories, which is why I eventually downloaded the undubs, things like that are really useful when your knowledge of japanese is like 70-80% or vocal only even though the subtitles don't much 1:1.
I guess I'll upload them anyway on different accounts at some point if people are curious, I'd rather avoid turning every thread into a dub vs sub war though because I never got that retarded argument and everyone gets really defensive.
I'll definetly upload the soundtracks complete with booklet scans and shit in a few days though

the drakengard 3 dlcs end with a little teaser for a possible future game, with Michael fighting alongside another human.
Accord and the whole ancient technology angle from Drakengard 3 and the series in general came from a post apocalyptic modern city that suddenly showed up in the world in the 800s along with all the magic and magical creatures, and Accord is dressed similarly to Adam.
So they could very well make a game that is both a sequel to Nier Automata and a prequel to Drakengard 3, the origin of the "old world" is one of the biggest lingering mysteries in the series at this point
Thematically I think Nier Automata could very well be a good end point, the whole series is about God exterminating humanity, by the time Nier Automata drops he managed to do so but multiple new forms of life are popping up (the machine network being launched in space, the pods gaining an ego, the androids rebelling against their program), but really anything could happen, who the fuck knows

So I got the platinum trophy (no trophy vendor) last night but I still just feel so empty inside, even despite Taro delivering on his happy ending promise. I get that his claims about no DLC and the locked doors just containing poop were probably just him being his normal pessimistic self, especially considering Saito wants to do it, but if they haven't really done much, or any, work on it yet, how long would be a reasonable time estimate for something like that to come out? Maybe I just don't pay much attention, but the only game I can think of that still has some DLC coming out after a substantially long time since it was released is DS3.

I dunno, I just want some kind of extra, less despair filled fun stuff to do. I'd even settle for some cute short story epilogue that doesn't ruin 2B and 9S's happy end and shows that they aren't going to make the same mistakes of the past, perpetuating the cycle. They just really deserve that good end, and the whole "supporting each other" theme from the credits mini-game would just kind of lose its impact. And if not, I hope he at least doesn't make some reference in his next game that ruins it either. I'm not really asking for something stupid/sappy either though because I don't think that would fit the narrative and buildup. Obviously they will probably still have to fight, but at least they would have each other to rely on to make it through and forge new lives together. Maybe I am just a fag who got too emotionally invested in this game's characters for whatever reason, but does anybody else feel this way?

What is this weapon name?

From a literary standpoint, I'm having a bit of trouble tying down what Taro was going for this time.
Nier was blatantly "What makes good people do evil things?". DoD3 was the inverse, "What makes evil people do good things?". I'm thinking that Automata is "Why do people kill people?".
9S's entire arc is the transition from fighting for the humans, to fighting for 2B, to fighting for revenge.
A2 fights for revenge, then takes up 2B's blade and another cause.
Pascal refuses to fight until the children are on the line. The children in turn kill out of fear.
Eve is basically 9S on the other side of the conflict.
All the arcs after the goliath attack on the city revolve around why some group is fighting.
Anybody got another view?

I think he basically pins it down with 2B's opening speech of the game. Life is a never ending spiral of death. Death is a constant in the game and the main motivator of every character in the game.


2B has to kill 9S constantly because that is her duty, is traumatized by it so she tries to remain aloof but melts to his cheery disposition and curiosity over the course of the game regardless and eventually chooses to sacrifice herself for him to try to create a different outcome

9S has been constantly dying due to 2B, remaining blissfully unaware of it almost the whole way through and is eventually turned into a twisted, viciously angry kid lashing out at a world that stole 2B from him

A2 was so heavily traumatized by the loss of her squadmates for bullshit reasons that she left YoRHa, puts 2B out of her misery but also takes up 2B's burden of protecting 9S and the machine village, eventually dies and in so doing realizes how beautiful the world really is

Adam and Eve were born from the nonstop deaths of machine lifeforms at the hands of YoRHa (2B and 9S just happened to be the ones who were sent on that assignment, but those machines were going to be wiped out regardless sooner or later) and Adam immediately became fascinated with humanity so much so that he willingly gave up his immortality so that he could learn what it was like to die

Eve was devastated by the loss of Adam and chose to try to destroy the world as revenge

Both humanity and the aliens died off countless years ago and both the machines and androids no longer have a reason to fight, but neither know of it either due to manufactured lies to convince them to go on or because they haven't had contact with their creators at all

N2's plan was based around trying to eliminate death entirely via artificial induced evolution

So if I am reading this correctly, Emil's Heads weapon is somehow from 600 years in the future, I hadn't realized that. Not sure how they came to exist in the game's time, but I'd say if he meets her again 600 years later, then 9S must still be around too because I feel like she probably wouldn't be able to continue going on without him. Also I get that happy is a very loose term here, but the whole point of the pods bringing them back was that they believe that, against their own programming, that our protagonists can do things differently this time, and for the better. I wouldn't think that even Taro would have written it that way, including the theme of the credits, if he was just gonna come back later and say "nope they still just went on to fuck up same as always :^)" even if they can't just magically fix the world and everything else. Sure, the machine network came back after some time, which was to be expected, but that doesn't mean that other things couldn't have changed as well. Call me an optimist, but I really think they can make new lives for themselves, and it couldn't hurt if Taro decided to show this in some way as well. They can make their own decisions, free to determine their own fates, plus they have the support of the pods to help them move past their lives of nonstop war.

I have to disagree. Nier and DoD3 had a lot of moments of other evil/good. Lying, kidnapping, rape, deception, manipulation, all of which played to the core themes without being strictly about killing. Killing's a big thing in any Taro game, of course, but I think Automata was even more zeroed in on it.

That is a good point. The only thing that is vague about the weapon story is that it just says android in black, so it could have been referring to any of them, although it did also mention a complicated look which does sound like 2B. Nice to know that there is, however small, some proof already in game that they are able to go on for quite some time despite the still pretty fucked circumstances of the earth as a whole. Actually makes me feel a little better about their future and personally slightly less depressed at having no more remaining content to do, at least for now. And who knows, maybe this new network built itself with less sinister intentions and focused its efforts on giving machines more purpose than constant battles. desu I liked the hacking bits, but I think the game needed two things
>plugin chips to make hacking easier/more interesting
>separate difficulty slider for the shooter segments(affects hacking and flight units)
That way they could have gone crazy with the bullet hell instead of having to flatten it out to make it doable for scrubs.
