When you translate Japanese to English, it will get lost in translation. If you translate a word or sentence from Japanese to English, it can come across with many different meanings. Sometimes it's right, most times it's wrong, especially when it comes to H games because some ero words have no direct translation without explaining it in English.

Google is getting better, but we're still very far from it.

Atlas and LEC when combined, give you a much better translation, up to the point where it's very understandable.

Unfortunately, success of /vhg/ is related to its development. No updates, no hype. We still maintain the translation though. I personally make sure that an updated wiki even though it's down right now and a download repository are available. Also, I secretly wish that someone or a group of people is making their own branch of VH and make it a real project. Even if they do it from scratch.

In the end, I'm just glad that Mynock and me have finished translating it in May of 2016, after 2 years of work. Rogue only worked 3 months of it and did 60% at the time.

I've been out of the loop for a while. What has /hgg2d/ been playing lately? Anything good come out recently? Especially if it's an action game.

animu style is overall very simplistic and usually suffers from same facey syndrome, where you have to distinguish characters by they hair, size, clothes, pose, speech and etc

"western style" is pretty fucking general, but I'm gonna with something like akabur and similar styles,
in contrast they are way more detailed giving emphasis on their faces and cartoonish characteristics

VH is by far my favorite hrpg or even hgame of all time, its a standard by which other games should follow
besides the time where I just came back all the time to catch up with translation, there really isn't that much reason to get back into the game anymore

Regarding translation I really wonder if you guys are not wasting time,

VH still remains the most fapped to game I have just because of the free travel and the sheer volume of dynamic situations you can come up with. Unfortunately, it will never become a real game because everyone throws their shit into the pot and there's literally zero quality control. Half-implemented scenarios, non-existent balance, and an absurd amount of bugs and feature conflicts fill the game.

Still, I said it 5 years ago and I'll still say it, exploring the maps with god mode gives me a wonderful Yume Nikki feeling. It's the second best thing in the game, and with everyone STILL implementing whatever they want, there's no shortage of lands to explore.

As for someone making a functional VH game, the absolute most essential thing that must exist is to have someone that knows how to piece content together and have that person act as the lead developer for quality control. That lead developer needs to then come up with standards that content must abide by to be implemented. Other people can make scenarios in a separate demo map, and have people approve or reject based on quality. Once approved, the lead dev would add it to the game.

That's really all you need, quality control and standards for content. Then you can start to build a world that isn't a mesh of half-assed ideas.

At least for me, playing RyonaRPG feels like the game is toying with me the player, not the character, and that's in a bad way. Some of the characters in that barely even have portraits.

In that world there's monster trainer that capture monster from the wild and raise them, there will be inspection to make sure you didn't do any cruelty to them, and the protagonist wants a monster girl so he can fuck her, he already have house and interior prepared.
