Ànyone have recommendations on how to skill for Death March in NG+? I feel like stuff like Whirl and Rend are pretty useless, since using them puts me at a high risk of getting hit, which most of the time results in death.

I love how badass she gets while killing Menge, but my Geralt doesn't want to see her get hurt. She doesn't have to prove anything to him and she can get moody all she wants, but my Geralt will always protect her.

My favorite outcome is going with her plan until they are about to take her away, then trying out Axii on the guards only to fail and kill them all. When Triss asks why he did it, Geralt says she means too much for him to see her get hurt and that's perfectly in line with my Geralt. Still, I love giving her a chance to kill Menge. It's a tough choice.

The thing is, I like protecting her and there are moments when she appreciates when Geralt takes charge and even asks him for it. I like how she is not afraid to ask for his advice or help and I do like Geralt taking charge if he thinks there's a better way. You also get to have a scene with the spy which is pretty good imo. Geralt makes a tryst with Triss joke, she gets to torture the spy and we can see that it affects her emotionally and that it doesn't come easy for her to commit such acts. I like seeing that side of her character and I like how she is open about it with Geralt.

Ive thought about it long and hard and I have come to the conclusion that no matter the player choice (kill Radovid, side with Radovid, side with Vernon, side with Dijkstra) they all end with Temeria, the real Temeria, ending.
When Foltest was mudered, Natalis completely gone and never mentioned again in the games, and the new Nilfgaard invasion Temeria ended.
This can be a good thing or a bad thing for the player.
It can either free the player to accept that no matter what they do they cant really alter the fate of Temeria.
It can allow them to side with Vernon to hold on to the nostalgia of Temeria.
It can even allow you to accept the change that is Dijkstra.
Am I just an idiot or is this actually great writing?

It's not early, it's from the epilogue. If you take the neutral path, Triss follows you throughout Vizima and fights alongside you until you are about to enter Grandmaster's headquarters. There Geralt tricks her into leaving for some potions because he doesn't want to see her get hurt. And later in the Ice Plains a vision of Triss helps you.

Are there any mods I should look into for Witcher 3?

Mostly I've grabbed a couple cosmetic ones, like the one that removes the makeup from Ciri and Cerys, and the one that makes Geralt look a bit younger, since it kind of never made much sense how he aged between Witcher 1 and 3, considering how little time passed between games, but it doesn't completely erase his wrinkles, just makes them a little less prominent, which I kinda like the look of.

I just finished installing Witcher 3 after beating 2 earlier. I have a question about save importing.

Is there any actual reason to import your save over simply using the simulated save thing and choosing the choices you made in 2? I heard you don't get anything special like maybe some gear or whatever. I can't really think of any weapons or armor that are cool enough to have been ported over, not like Raven's armor from 1, or the cool-ass swords you got that were endgame equipment in 1 that became shit-tier, barely lasts you until the end of act 1 garbage in 2.

Save import wasn't done especially good. The only major decision that really makes a difference is whether you let Letho live or not. There is a difference in one mission depending on Aryan's fate, Sile's fate is also imported. Roche/Iorveth choice makes one insignificant line of dialogue difference. Choice to save Triss or Saskia/Anais none that I'm aware of.

I just finished my first game. I'm curious how you guys did for the first time, and how spoiled you were.

I only knew I can't let Keira go to Radovid, take money from Emhyr, that I have to demolish Avallachs lab and that in general Ciri might die. Also, that kingslaying quest leads to dumbed down choice between Dijskra and Broche - that's why I avoided it. Maybe it's a lot, but I was hyped af and it took me over a year to get my toaster to run the game, so I quess its not that bad.

I ended up with dead Baron, Cerys as queen, Radovid winning the war, Geralt with Yen, Lambert with Keira, Ciri witcheress, I helped Olgierd, let his wifes memory die, killed Detlaff and led to Anarietta-Syanna reunion.

I mostly try to play neutral Geralt so I find it hard to justify why he would get involved and not just leave after he fulfilled his deal with Gaunter.

Also, Gaunter more than demonstrated his power and it doesn't make much sense to go against such a powerful entity just when you've finally done your part of the deal, and for someone like Olgierd, who meant nothing to my Geralt.

Triss had nothing with the Lodge's plan to kill Demavend or any of their actions in TW2. She started asking questions and they stopped inviting her to their meetings. If you ask Philippa about it, she confirms it.

And besides, the Lodge was outplayed and used as a scapegoat by Emhyr in TW2. He is the one to blame for the chaos in the North far more than the mages or the Lodge.

In TW3, Triss has abandoned the Lodge and we can see the true nature of her ideals. She steps up when no one else is brave or capable enough and assumes the role of a leader, something that doesn't come naturally for her She shows a lot of growth and I admire her for it. Her wanting to help the mages mages me appreciate her even more.

Triss had no interest for herself when she stepped up with a plan that put her in immense danger. As she says so herself, Dijkstra's treasure is irrelevant and Geralt should focus on Dandelion and Ciri and that she will find other ways to get money. Triss did a lot of things for Geralt. Triss is also the one who comes up with the plan to use Dudu as fake Menge and free Dandelion.

Triss' help during the whole Novigrad section of the game is invaluable and I actually love when she too asks Geralt for help and see nothing wrong with that. Triss has her own goals and agendas that are very admirable and my Geralt will gladly help her any way he can.

Ciri is primarily important to Geralt and Triss does help tremendously. She never turned down anything when Geralt asked her and she came through in more ways than one. Without her, finding Dandelion would be impossible, without Dandelion they wouldn't know the words of Avallac'h's curse and without him they wouldn't be able to locate Ciri in the Isles of Mists, so imo Triss' role in that chain of events is significant enough.

And after her matters are resolved Triss again returns and helps at KM. She does more than enough for Ciri imo.

Well, if you go by yourself, things are a bit more interesting. You get to play Gwent in the casino and participate in a fight in Whoreson's arena.

If you go with Cleaver's man, you basically go full frontal attack and slaughter anything on your way.

Whatever you decide, It doesn't change the later outcome of the quest in any way.

Has anyone here used the Preparation Mod?

I kind of like the concept, and it looks well made. I always thought it was a bit silly that Geralt just replenished his bombs and potions after a short rest, and the mod seems to add back in that system where creating potions or other goodies, or even switching abilities/mutagens around takes a bit of time, which sounds good to me.
