Yeah, I had that feeling doing my completionist playthrough for Origins. At least with this one walking around the maps is relatively chill, so I can usually just tune out and listen to music or books on tape between cutscenes.

If you are doing a completionist playthrough, get some mods, like More Party banter that triggers conversation every 15 minutes while exploring, Wartable- No waiting, Conversation camera zoom, etc.

One of the things I hated about Inquisition was the absolute silence while exploring as you mentioned, the ambient music files are extremely short and companions never seem to talk.

I completed it in a month and a half.

I explored every nook and cranny, talked to every npc and spent time reading the codex enteries. I skipped some collectibles quests (shards, Fade rifts, etc) and some wartable quests. If you are doing a long run it is important to pick a good class you won't get bored of.

I never saw the point really. I did it once DLC and max difficulty and all that where I was bed sick for a weekend and finished it out the following week but it was dreadfully boring because at about half way through you cap out all exp and get the best gear around then as well. It had no sense of accomplishment either mostly because the game gives no real impact of all those power points you horded up. At least in games like DA:O or even Skyrim there was a sense each quest goal gave you something for your trouble. Didn't help that the story was painfully thin and pathetic I thought Ancient Evil awakens of DA:O was campy but holy shit Corypheus was a regular old Skeletor in terms of villainy.

I have that tendency with ones I like and as stated I gave DA that shake but it was just grind for sake of grind which from an engineering/programming standpoint isn't a good thing. I've never minded grinding but when you have everything noteworthy in 30 hours and you're a god killing machine without exploits used but have about another 30+ to 100% it something has gone wrong in your design. But I will say it's not as tedious as the ME games were for 100% it. Amazingly with each game they made it dreadfully boring for different reasons. I can only wonder what ME:A is going to have that will make grinding a chore.

That's very true. The last time I tried to 100% this game I got about 80 hours in (I ended up quitting because I decided I wanted to go mages instead of templars at the start), but I'm hoping it works out better this time around. You're right that Mass Effect is way worse in that regard, and I know they're importing the wartable for Andromeda so god only knows how bad that's going to get.

I will say that I don't look forward to the five-plus hours I'll inevitably spend farming the Cradle of Sulevin for gold and schematics, though. That shit was obscene.

So I'm planning a man of murder gameplay of Dragon Age Origins soon. My goal is to murder all the companions possible. I want to not the goal is them dying by my hand and not indirect means. So any tips on what to play or how to go about the killings?

Dog - can be killed at Ostagar.
Leliana - can be killed if you have her in your party when you desecrate the sacred ashes.
Wynne - tell her you'll purge the tower during Broken Circle.
Oghren - get his disapproval low enough and kill him when he approaches you in the camp.
Zevran - can be killed immediately after meeting him.
Shale - side with Branka and have her in your party.

Alistair, Sten and Morrigan cannot be killed directly. However, you can make Anora execute Alistair and get Sten killed by leaving him in the cage.

I don't remember how it goes in Awakening, but I'm pretty sure you can kill Velanna instead of recruiting her, and Sigrun turns on you if you side with the Architect.

If the goal is destroying your squad, you'll have a difficult adventure. You need to play one of two types:

1.Stealth rouge. Since you can kill both rouges you will lock yourself out of chests and what not early on unless you either do the Ashes very late in game or recruit Zevran but keep his moral low enough that he turns, which is a fair workaround. However as an alternative an elf rouge (so you can kill Dog) built with stun and backstab abilities should go fine.
2.Sprint Healer mage. You could always build Morrigan into this but she not great at it and you be better off making the MC it since it will help your risky squad of two warriors and a Mage work better. However if you kill both rouges early on you will be unable to get past most lock chests so take with cation what you are restricting yourself with. I don't believe there was anything special kept behind a lock chest but it will reduce your cash/potion flow so keep that in mind.

Your squad left at the end would only be Alister/Loghain, Sten, and Morriagn, if your plan is to refuse the ritual you will be under man for the final battle as Morriagn leaves then.

I did everything there was to do in FF6, 8 and 9 if that counts. Got plat trophy in Dark Souls 1 and 3 although I did this when I was pretty much bored of the PvE already just because I was already close to 100%.

I just finished the Descent
I played Jaws of Hakkon too and that was a pretty straightforward adventure (I'm a sucker for past-meets-future moments where two characters call each other by the same title)

Descent was straight up Ancient-Aliens levels of lore density. It'd be nice if characters could get some unique abilities from it like they did in Hakkon but otherwise it was really rewarding, really fun, fun characters (Solid Snake and Liara) and a nice sink for Power points.
But yeah, maybe something like:
>Non-Dwarf mages: some Lyrium absorption abilities
>Non-Dwarf warriors: Legion of the Dead buff
>Non-Dwarf rogues: New stealth tactics derived from the guys you find at the bottom of the deep roads
>Dwarves: Regain your stone sense in the form of an auto-block passive that lets you either dodge or block an attack every 15 seconds or so

Also, the Arcane Knowledge perk was funny as hell when you say "We're INSIDE the Titan", the zoom in and then zoom out felt like some sort of illuminati meme moment

I suppose a lot of it leans heavily on the assumption you know Thedas well enough already, or at least that's how it felt to me. Like if you haven't read the novels, and WoT, and played all the other games and DLC, you weren't *technically* missing anything absolutely vital, but you weren't getting a particularly rich worldbuilding experience from DAI alone.

Well at the same time I got inquisiton, I also already had GW2, and they both feel very similar quest wise, which made DAI feel like it was supposed to be a multiplayer game. Another ting is right of the bat the grpahics were pretty meh, at higher levels it made my computer lag, but at lower it looked like absolute shit, especially in comparison to games like Skyrim and GW2 which play and look better. The story was a turn off for me, I enjoyed DAo because I was fighting for something, this I just do random shit and hopefully someone wont betray me anytime soon. That and the fact I had to remake a character a few times (lip shine, chin issues), it really turned me off the first time. But I need a good fantasy rpg to play casually while I am bored so if you have suggestions.

Inquisition, the GOTY on sale for $30-40 is worth it imo.

Origins was okay but people act like it had no flaws which sort of pisses me off.
Like the combat was janky, the animations were garbage and it was hardly any darker than your typical Tolkien-esque fantasy, it just happened to have a sort of beige filter on most everything short of the snow itself

Yeah, Inquisition's big issue for me is that its open worlds are basically useless after you 100 everything.

GW2 actually sort of fixed some of that with the expansion's changes to world rewards.

The other big issue I've had with Inquisition is that Combat isn't interesting, though when combat is MOST interesting in your worst game (DA2) I suppose that ought to be foreshadowing

Honestly, I treat Inquisition as an Adventure game with some role playing bits sprinkled through.


If you want a good fantasy RPG to play, I recommend Tyranny. It's all the promise of the Dragon Age games (especially Inquisition) with DAO type combat and a tight, replayable story.

It also borrows a lot of the core themes from Hellsing Ultimate, if that interests you

Yeah, questwise for me it was the map locking, which really pissed me off in DAI, the world isnt even the pretty to explore like GW2. In DAO I didnt do any of the quests really until I was done with the main one, and all of those were far more interesting than go in.

DAO combat was a mess, but imo it kind of fit, I miss being an overpowered mage that can wipe an entire map, DAI every one is equally weak which is unfortunate.

KoA is one of my most replayed games ever. It's not an especially brilliant game but it's very nice to look at, and there's just something quite fun about the whole thing. Also the combat is enjoyable, fighting with chakrams is particularly satisfying, definitely the best way to consistently and effectively wreck everyone's shit.
