The plot of the game is that 100 years ago, the prophesied return of Ganon happened.
At the time, the Hylians had learned about an ancient power that could stop Ganon buried away in the earth.
This power was the guardians and the divine beasts.
4 people were chosen to pilot these beasts.
When Ganon returned this backfired on the Hylians because Ganon had a way to infect the machines and make them do his bidding. Resulting in massive destruction and death.

The king of Hyrule died, the pilots died, cities were destroyed.
Link was near death but was put in a chamber of resurrection for 100 years. When he wakes he has forgotten everything happening 100 years prior.

Ganon is now confirmed to take different shapes throughout the ages, the Gerudo that commanded one Divine beat says that
Ganon once took the form of a Gerudo male, and that will make the revenge personal.

There's a prison in Hyrule Castle that takes a bit of snooping to find. Inside the prison area is a skeleton hinox that drops the Hylian shield once it dies.

Lost woods is behind hyrule castle, you should see lots of fog and some green treetops with a tall tree in the middle with pink leaves.

Visit impa after seeing one of the memory cutscenes and she will give you the shirt.

I don't know exactly how many hearts it takes, sorry.

I knocked the tower of blocks holding the chest up over with the removable magnetic block, pushed them towards the exit area, balanced the big metal cube on top, jumped off the metal chest (for extra height) to reach the balanced cube and then got to the exit.

Don't listen to anyone saying that you need all of the memories to get the master sword. You don't. All you need is at least 13 hearts. Lifting the sword takes 12 and 3/4 hearts so you need at least 13 to take it.

Zelda thinks Link died to hold Ganon in place so she could finish him off with a massive light blast and has a full on break down until he crawls back up the edge of the platform you've been standing on and reveals he was just blown off it instead of disintigrated. Also, Ganon is portrayed in an almost kinda sympathetic way? He's clearly in pain from the transformation and lost his mind so it feels more like putting down a rabid dog than beating your enemy or something.

if you don't know how to cook, walk to a pot over a fire and go into your inventory. highlight ingredients and then choose to HOLD them instead of eat. hold what you want to cook together and go back into the game and you'll get the option to cook them.

Overall? Its my favourite 3D Zelda, I always felt they were at their best when they did everything they could to break the formula of the 2D games and BotW is the first to do so in a satisfying way while still having good dungeons. It felt like a genuine adventure and has the best story of any game in the franchise, period.

Only real complaints I have are the technical elements of the graphics letting down the art direction, the generic enemy AI being fairly terrible, the durability stuff being an annoyance, and the repetitiveness of some parts of the side-content.

I'd give it a 9/10

Serious warning, final boss battle and ending of the game follows.

>Link and him start to duel, only the Master Sword can hurt him however
>He knocks Link back in a scripted attack and he ends up getting knocked nearly unconscious
>You take over Zelda briefly, firing light arrows and trying to dodge his attacks to buy Link time to drag himself back to his feet
>Link leaps onto him, drives his sword into his back and tries to hold him steady
>Zelda has to take the final shot while Link stops him from blocking, does so, starts to uncontrollably sob afterwards since she believes Link just gave his life
>Link climbs back over the edge of the roof, showing he was only flung backwards rather than consumed by the blast
>The two ride off into the sunset to recuperate, with Zelda supporting Link in the saddle of Epona and smiling at him as he rests
>Post-game begins where you can freely explore the rest of the world, with the in-story justification being that there's ''still much to do'' before you two can begin rebuilding Hyrule and driving out the remaining monsters and such is just the start

And, yes, this does mean that everything could have been averted if Link had the Master Sword and Zelda knew how to use her magic back when Ganon first arrived.

Hyrule is in ruins. As in, entirely gone. Like the first two games.
Ganon has been defeated a lot of times to the point of losing its sanity and just being some kind of hatred of Demise in fog form. Like all the downfall games where Ganon's killed again and again.

As per original lore, the game tells you that in ancient times, tired of Ganon appearing again and again, the king or Zelda or whoever used the Triforce and the Sheikah to create the giants.

I've done a couple of side quests so far. One was a horse time trial.
One was "help, raiders are attacking our outpost" which felt pretty organic as after taking the quest, one of the raiders just came in randomly and started fucking shit up while I was hunting for treasure. That's when I pulled up my socks and decided to fuck them up.

I met a guy with an accordion in the woods who told me about some nearby place of interest. I followed his directions and found a shrine there and now I need to find some other item to offer to the shrine. I'm not sure if sidequests will set map markers for where to go next if you set them to active.

There's lots of shrines (essentially puzzle rooms) to scope out. Combat is fun and clearing out groups of enemies tends to reward you with gear and maybe some rare items.

I gave a dog some meat and apples and it led me to a buried chest, that was fun.

Man I am hyped as fuck for the final fight now, it sounds amazing.

Ok, so I'm going to hack my WiiU this weekend to play Zelda, I already have the game, and the update downloaded, and a couple guides.

I need an SD card, and a USB drive.

How big must the SD card be? As I'm gonna pick up something cheap off of amazon. And with the USB drive, I'm gonna forego getting a 2TB external drive atm. I already have a 320GB one for my Wii, which is partitioned, and a 2TB one for importnat stuff on my computer. Since the WiiU is greedy and uses the full drive, I won't be using either of those.
