Did you play in Casual? I am running a Henselt promote deck with 0 control. Shit is fun. I basically spam Poor Fucking Infantry and then thunderbolt them out the ass and then promote them. I also could use Yen to buff everyone +2. I only lost 1 match against a monster consume deck that basically run double Arachas behemoth and double Vran warriors. We ended the third round like 135 - 142 or something along those lines, shit was close.

I don't get it, why are NG decks choosing to play Xarthisius over Stefan Skellen?

I can understand that denying your opponent a win condition can potentially be miles better, but that's not guaranteed, but Stefan always does exactly what you need him to do, and has strong synergy with Morvran and Vilgefortz. This means Stefan has miles better consistency.

I think Xarth is definitely strong enough to see play, but not to replace Stefan. Why are people taking him?

11 vs 9 is pretty compelling on its own. Skellen on paper is amazing, any card, almost on demand. The catch is you need a draw card to do it, and fine, you have morvran + ample draw chances as NG, but you just used a gold card to find an answer you need another card (or round drawing but that's inherently not affecting the round skellen was played) to actually give you, and most times you want your golds to be your answers, not fetch them. 9 + gigni on demand isn't terrible, don't get me wrong but you just used 3 cards.

Well Toussaint isn't really a substantial part of Nilfgaard either. It's culturally and militarily independent, doesn't contribute to the Imperial army and isn't called a province like the other territories, but is still allowed to have its own monarchy.

Toussaint is definitely detached enough from Nilfgaard to be its own faction, the same way Skellige is detached enough from the Northern Realms to have a deck.

I'd definitely say that we will get Calanthe and Meve for NR. Demawend is such a weak ruler that he doesn't deserve a spot.

CDPR said you won't get an advantage for playing the campaigns so I'd say if Meve appears in the first campaign, f2p users can open her in packs and people who bought the campaign get her for free upon completing it.

1) At all cost if it's against Skellige. Even if I have 2 cards less at the end, you have to win the 1st round. Skellige only gets stronger later on, so if you don't win the first round you can pretty much forfeit already. Also against Swims Dwarves. If you lose the first round and have to deal with buffed dwarves in the second round, well, GG.
2) Never. 1st round is of utmost importance against most meta decks, so I always make an effort.
3) I play Rad control, so I basically always end the 1st round with card disadvantage. 2nd round is for regaining card advangage through Stennis and Ciri, so I literally can't win 2-0 with my deck. It's just too weak. NR bronzes aren't that good.
4) I don't use YenCon, but back when I did, I saved her for third or 2nd round to make her align all units for Borkh
5) Generally yes, unless I really want to win a close 1st round, then placing Ciri might force a 1st round win

You get card advantage.

Lets see you have 8 cards and your opponent 8 cards. You are about to play your card, which will leave you at 7 cards, that means your opponent will be the one to get the last play of the round which is insanely valuable to counter whatever you did that round.

By playing a Spy you go to 7 and then draw a card so you go to 8 again, that means your opponent wont get the last play and you will be 1 card ahead.

Timing a spy is crucial as you want to use him when you know you are going to lose the round or when you can deal with it himself.

Nope it's great actually. Play him at the end of a round you are clearly losing and you got yourself a free card plus deck thinning. Play him in the second round after you won 1st round to get card advantage (you don't want to win 2nd round if you have stennis anyway)

The best one is Priscilla. Dudu is a meme card and Vattier is only good in reveal decks. Priscilla is in every single NR deck. Also, card borders=/=rarity. A silver card can be rarer than a gold card. The cards you pulled are all epics (signalled by the purple square in the bottom right corner)

I try to win 1st round I think almost always simply because it allows me to set the pace for the rest of the game, obviously if I don't have the cards to make a good tempo swing, I would just pass.
