Damn this game is pretty good. What faction should I focus on with scrap building though? I can't decide which would be good at lower levels and transitions well into upper.

How balanced is the game so far?

Was legend in HS and master in shadowverse currently. How does it compare to the two games? Seems to be like Duelyst from what I've seen. How likely is it to get into the beta?

I am top 50 and the balance is nice every faction has a way to deal with other factions abilities, some times you are just completely outplayed by the other faction if it has the right cards. For example I am running a shitty Triple Skald Skellige deck and I have been winning against almost all factions except Monsters that with Caretaker and Griffins (that made a huge Comeback for Monsters in the ladder since SK seems to be the dominant faction) can completely fuck up my win conditions (Oldgier, Skald, Ciri, etc etc), I still need time to find a way to deal with them.

About to start up gwent for the first time. Any tips?

Yeah it's daily. Resets around 12am GMT. The image is wrong though. You don't have to win games. You'll get tier 1 by winning 6 rounds, and tier 2 by winning 12 more rounds. So you can lose every game you play, as long as you win a round each match you'll progress.

You'll get Premo Geralt just for playing CBT.

I'd recommend a basic Monster Weather deck, getting to level 10 and then just play ranked while you build your collection. Switch to Casual or AI to test decks/mechanics/cards because it can be wonky (D-Bomb interactions for example)

Don't worry too much about the meta and have fun.

You probably shouldn't nerf shit based on what's happening below rank 13. Foglets are weak. Nekkers are a lot better but still manageable.

Currently I play Dwarves, but it's just running golds I own, not ones that people usually play in the deck.

This is the current Iteration. I added a Last Wish to fish for Ciri when on the losing Rounds (with the current set up you can have a potential +8 cards drawn from deck, which should leave you with only 4 dead cards in the deck on your good hands on the bad ones over 9), Olgierd saw the axe because Monsters will always steal it from you or consume him. One archer saw the axe to add another Raider for the discard of the first play.

Other than that, I'd swap Igni for Iorveth and Yen for Aglais.

Iorveth can deal with small threats and maybe even big ones if you can use Eithne on him.

No, but there are general rules, Never go balls deep in a round against someone that will keep units on the board (ST dwarves, Monsters, SK with Morvark and Olgierd, etc etc) if you don't have ways to recover that later (scorch, epidemic, Shani-Pavetta, etc etc).

Against SK discard don't let them take the first round, once they play their spies pass, if they get to play their spies on the round you need to win you may never recover the card advantage.

Take it easy man, Monsters is the defacto beginners deck, mostly because of the passive ability and that most of their units are immune to weather. So no matter the faction you play try to include weather immune units in it or ways to work around weather, hold your clear skies and don't wast them immediately since your opponent could have more than 1 way to spawn the same weather condition and if you hold that would become a dead card in his hand.

Check all factions and see what hold your interest, SK focus on reusing their bronze units in later rounds thanks to their medics, NR kinda do the same but their shit is buff and promote, Monsters is mostly about weather control and staying power, NG is the faction less friendly to beginners but it can be fun playing a reveal deck, ST is a faction focused mostly on Card Advantage sadly is the faction that requires the most expensive cards to work.

So I would say that the best factions to start are Skellige and Monsters, I would add Northern realms as well mostly because their epic cards (one step below legendary cards) are REALLY good (Priscilla, Shani, Nenneke) and can form a really solid deck on their own. SK also has really good epic cards that can be used to build a solid discard skellige deck.

So I took out the Arachas. Mostly because if your Behemoths are removed or silenced the Arachas will only pollute your draws. I removed one Clear Sky because usually you will only need CS as a last card since enemies will way (recommendation here is to switch Eredin as leader if you are able to)

I also removed a Ghoul and Vran to make the deck a 25 cards deck and not 27.

I added. Ciri, card advantage. Clever (locking snowball units is a must and you lack control) and BTM, since it has great synergy with Gaunter O'dimm, though it is situational as fuck it could prove useful.

Of all the new cards I think only BTM and Cleaver will need to be crafted. Also I would consider running Dagon and not Eredin since with Dagon you could also drop another FL and run another bronze Unit.

What is exactly monster weather supposed to be like? Something tells me the gameplan should be more sound than copying fogglets and praying you have more fogs than they have answers.

I'm a 3yr player, husband and dad. We live on a budget. I quit Magic the Gathering bc it cost $300 to build one deck and I can't get out of the house for selfish time anymore.

I love Hearthstone. My wife was sick and homebound for the last 9 months. She couldn't really go outside and we had lots of chill time and nap time. Hearthstone is something I could enjoy myself, while spending time with her. It didn't demand my full attention. And hot dog it's free! Ok Ok, I've spent about $15 on it in 3 years.

It works with really no bugs. The graphics rock. New content comes out. I enjoy monthly ladder resets and the grind to legend. The arena system is sick! Streamers can make great content (thank you Kolento for teaching me to be good and staying so positive).

So yeah, it's not perfect. But it is so darn good. That is all :)

I just started the game and have been looking through a lot of the cards and this one caught my eye. Is this card as insanely good as i think it is and if so is there a good deck in this faction that i could work towards getting?

I'm already fed up with the HS kiddies flooding r/gwent.

Bad UI this, bad UI that, I hope CDPR doesn't listen. People seriously complain already about how clean the interface looks and want it to be more "physical" like in HS. Yeah the UI needs to be more intuitive during mulligan phase, or when looking up your opponent's cards he just played. But other than that it's perfectly fine. I don't want this game to look like poor man's poker with tacky effects and shit. You can't possibly look at Hearthstones cartoony arena and think that this is the visual style CDPR should go for.

Yes it is a good card. There is a popular tier 1 deck called Swim's dwarves which utilizes this card. The basic idea is stacking your front row with units then using this card to pull shit like Hawker Healer or Commanders Horn for insane Value.

I like the 2 raiders and morkvarg on round 1, I feel they provide a nice tempo swing. I try to win round one while buffing morkvarg, gain CA with Donar and Ciri on round 2 and buff siege row on the last round.

Any tips. I feel I need more deck thinning, I was using the pirates before.

Geralt is monsters too. You push people into Weather and kill them on the spot.

Dagon is great for Weather Monsters which is a really powerful deck right now.

King Bran is also the backbone of the Skellige Discard deck so if you don't like monsters King Bran is the only sensible choice here, start looking up Skellige Discard and see if you like it.

Ocvist and Roach aren't essential but you will need some cards that draw from deck then like King of beggars or That silver card that calls the strongest card in your deck.

I don't like the spies to gain CA because usually you will only play them on rounds you plan on losing and they are obvious queues to pass which means that the opponent will not lose CA. And Winning round 1 is really hard as Bran, that is what Morvark and Olgierd come handy since they transfer power to the last round and Morvark is a great anti Borkh card.

I would drop one FL and run at least one Behemoth in the off chance your opponent doesn't run control or doesn't have an answer to it. You should save to get a Kyran that is a key card in any consume deck. Also I would add a removal bait card, like Octvist if you can afford him, after that you run the behemoth.

The thing with that is that Olgierd is a REALLY bad match against Monsters, specially since Monster players started to run Katakan and Ghouls to destroy my graveyard earlier in the round and basically 2-0 me.

So I get the feeling, but I feel that he is worthy the bad match up, specially against ST. You could Bran Morvark and 2 Skalds and have 2 priestess of freya in hand to basically revive them on first round.

Random is a very big deal in Gwent because you generally want to measure the value of your cards to plan your next moves.

Getting something random can be good or bad and some decks just dont care so it depends on what you are playing.

Depends on your preferable faction. Ghoul is good for Monster consume decks and Vicaroo is a great NG card that can fuck up the plans of SK decks or NR decks.

In lower ranks Monsters, mostly because the earlier games are basically trowing base Strength units at each other and with Monsters you get to keep the last card you played AND most of those units are immune to weather.

Later on a lot of decks open up possibilities and the meta is quite diverse even on the top tiers.

I got so fed up losing with my ST dwarf shitter deck that I took my old Radovid deck and played ranked. I only replaced Scorch with Aeromancy. Works wonders against row stackers. Got me to rank 14, finally.

To former Radovid players; take your favorite Rad control deck and add aeromancy. Trust me it works.
