The blue hedgehog we know as Sonic the Hedgehog has always possessed supersonic speeds, with Speed Force-esque kinetic energy manipulation and physics-defying capabilities. Sonic's origins and the source of this speed is entirely unknown. Maybe he's the soul of a pilot that died breaking the sound barrier for the first time in history? Maybe he's a personality and power born entirely from a young hedgehog's wishes to be strong? Maybe he experienced a lab accident where he broke the sound barrier on a treadmill while wearing his Power Sneakers and the accident dyed his fur blue? Who knows what the story is. He might have just been born with it.

But it wasn't until Sonic Adventure that Sonic's speed gets TRULY upgraded and leveled up. In Sonic Adventure, Sonic recieves upgrades that allow him to absorb and charge up light inside himself in order to move at the speed of light to dash and attack. Over time, Sonic strengthened this new skill and got faster and faster with it until he could move at those speeds easier and more casually, until finally, by the time of Sonic Colors, our blue hedgehog has surpassed it completely, and considers lightspeed to be small time and no challenge.

It's also after Sonic Adventure that we see Sonic use the power of the wind and the power of time (not Chaos Control) from his speed, but it could just be a result his strengthening of his speed in general.

Yo, thank you guys for the recommendations on the comics and romhacks in the last thread and sorry for not answering you there. I picked up a Sonic Universe (I think) comic at random, and got Shadow meeting Marine. It was great and I'm definitely going to read them.

Sega of Japan's meddling is what led to Lost World being a Mario Galaxy clone. It's all Iizuka's fault we got what we did. He specifically requested this. He was also the director and lead game designer of Shadow the Hedgehog. He thought that was okay to put out.

Sega of Japan forced Sonic 2006 to be rushed for a holiday release instead of delaying it so it could at least be somewhat functional.

In Japan, Sonic is seen as a franchise aimed at very young kids. In the US and UK, it's mostly for kids but older audiences also embrace it. It's like Pokemon in a way. However, since Sega of Japan has made most of the games in the past, they made the stories and dialogue childish and awkward.

Sonic X was singlehandedly responsible for making our fanbase a laughingstock and autistic cesspool. Don't get me wrong, it was bad before Sonic X. It started when dark plots and lore were forced into the games. But Sonic X just made everything so much worse. The minute you introduce obvious relationships/shipping between characters in a show aimed at children close to hitting puberty is the minute that fanbase gets swamped with fetish art and general autism for the rest of eternity. Things were never this bad until Sonic X came along.

Sega of Japan has done a lot of great things, but it's also done a lot that has really hurt this franchise and its fandom. Honestly, I wish Sonic would be taken care of solely by Sega of America or something. Anything but Sega of Japan at this point.

what I am defending in my first statement is that is in-character for Blaze to act like she has a thing for Sonic, because she did that more than once in canon games and even in the comic, you can for example, interpret her "oh Sonic don´t you think you were brought here (by the emeralds) for a reason" line from Sonic Rush Adventure as her literally asking if he had some hero duty to do there or her world, OR as her implying it was some sort of desnity going on and the reason is that so they would meet again.

Character development is never a bad thing in my opinion. Watching a character change and grow while still remaining interesting and in-character is a mark of great writing. It's also incredibly satisfying as the viewer/reader/player if it's subtle and done well.

I'd rather have a boring story with great characters than a great story with boring characters. Unfortunately all we get from the Sonic games are bad stories with bland characters. I get that stories don't really mean anything since these are video games but ehh. If Sega is going to put the effort in, they should try to make the story/characters good.

but it´s not "pre-rush", it´s literally an interpretation of the same story, being an open flirt with Archie´s version of Sonic is only in-character within that very specific universe and not the games, it´s an official intepretation however, and that´s my whole point, Blaze has an official appearence where can be interpreted as interested in him in Archie AND has a official appearence where can be interpreted as interested in him in the games, they don´t need to act like the other but the romantic interest part of the thing is 100% official interpretation.
