Anyone know how to change the MCM font color in the main pause menu? From what I understand changing the MCM menu forms itself from amber is impossible or close to it, but I know this is possible; I can't find out how though, I've poked around in the MCM plugins, and in all the XMLs but can't find out how to change it. I've gotten everything else on the HUD changed though.

Only place I found was in an old thread on nexus forums, and someone did solve the issue but didn't say exactly how, and the forums were being a bitch and logged me out after I tried to reply to that old thread.

I changed literally one line. Go to your FONV folder, /Data/Menus/prefabs/MCM/MCM.xml
Go to line 119, change &hudalt; to &mainmenu;

To figure out what to change it to I just opened up any other xml file that had to do with menus and ctrl+f'd "systemcolor".

If you want to change it to whatever other color, you have to open up that xml file and look for systemcolor and find whatever they called it.

Change that <systemcolor> thing to say this instead (delete everything inside):

You gotta admit, it does have a certain design plan sense, if you look at it right. It's big, clunky, and comparatively weaker than competitors, sure. But consider the difference between the modern and classic iterations of handheld gaming consoles. A PSP or similar is expensive, has a lot of important resources, and breaks relatively easily due to its components. Powerful, certainly, but easily damaged and only worthwhile if you can get a good return on it.

Probably the entire idea the Institute had was to pop out a bunch of cheap, reliable guns that ran off common ammo rather than waste resources on stuff they would want to recover...and that, therefore, others would want to take. I do still think it's a shitty gun, though.

This helped great, by giving me a location to look into. I wasn't going to use &mainmenu though, because all the modding I did for the menus was removing that shitty variable which made the menu default Amber color.

Basically my mod doesn't set the menu as a fixed color, but sets it as the Pipboy HUD color, which is selectable in options. That is via the variable &hudmain; which I applied to most everything I could in the UI, but just couldn't find what was controlling the color for that one Mod Configuration string. Changing the &mainmenu; to &hudmain; was the trick.

Yeah, I wasn't gonna do it that way because I didn't want custom fixed color, although I didn't specify that. I was avoiding a lot of the &nosystemcolor; entries because I wasn't sure if they were supposed to have color of if they took color off their parent (which I assumed would've been &hudmain; after all of my tweaks, but wasn't always).

Because tracking chips are fucking stupid if you want to remain hidden. Most dumb humans can handle tracking chips in their phones and shit like that because our overlords don't give two fucks about it; but the Institute for it's very survival needs to be as hidden as possible. Sending out technology that can be used directly against them is stupid when they can just pump out a slave to go track and fetch anyway.

Well, this is all that accomplished. I about exhausted the XMLs now, I do know there is quite a lot of game variables in the ESPs regarding MCM functionality, so it's possible its in there, which isn't worth tweaking with for an optional child menu (now that the main menu aspect of it matches).

That, or just don't help out on the quests where the raider bosses send you to help their guys in the Commonwealth. Let a couple die and loot away.

Also, you can pickpocket it off of them with a high level in pickpocket, and Mr. Sandman kills on sleeping ones shouldn't aggro anyone else if nobody sees.

Do this instead: &(mainmenu|nosystemcolor|hudalt); -> &hudmain;

You'll get some weird animations in that screen beacuse some "nosystemcolor" is meant to be nosystemcolor. So you might actualy want to try just (mainmenu|hudalt) before adding that nosystemcolor one.

Also, I hope you aren't doing this by hand. I used notepad++ to do this.

I think that Avellone had a point when he said that Fallout was getting too civilized. I agree to a certain extent, but I think the problem runs deeper than that; the Fallout universe doesn't hold any mysteries anymore. It's getting harder and harder to make up new and interesting stuff that'll both be lore- and "tone"-friendly AND entertaining.
However, I don't think this problem necessarily strangles the entire franchise from now on out, though.
The key issue becomes playability and game-mechanical entertainment. Like, future Fallout games need to refurbish their atmosphere or gameplay. For instance by making it harsher and more survival-based, or making an even more cinematic and humorous Portal-like spin-off, or something like that.

FNV was good partly because it found its own direction and theme; casinos, gambling, wandering, etc. ..whilst F3 thought that it was enough to simply put a generic motive behind the main character, and the rest would solve itself (as in, the world would speak for itself, and entertain the player).

One thing's for sure; I think they need to reintroduce the classical RPG-elements. Attributes, skills, etc. Preferably making it more complex than F1 and F2 too.
This allows for the sense of progression to entrance the player more, making the player scrutinize the world less (meaning you could get more out of it).

People have mixed feelings about it. It forces you to become the leader of the raiders, and attack the commonwealth settlements if you want to complete the story, which can be pretty anti-immersion unless you're RPing as a raider already.

Not really anything too special for legendaries, but some of the basic weapons and armor added are pretty nice. Most interesting legendary I can think of is the magician suit/top hat you get from Kiddie Kingdom. You also get a chinese sword variant, which is basically like any other chinese sword.

Settlements don't get any new tiles, but there's a bunch of new raider themed decorations (spikes, cages, bloody stuff, etc.). Once you've conquered a decent number of commonwealth settlements (8 iirc) you can also start crafting trading booths for your raiders which operate basically the same as the ones through the local leader perk, except they sell some of the nuka world raider gear/ammo/clothes/etc.

Yeah, I generally give bad cloth physics logic a pass when it involves breasts when it comes to bodyslide. The rest of it with the cloth on the sides somehow staying flat really is just a problem with the design itself, and comes off as a forced attempt at a unique take on partially covered skimpy designs. There are a few robot-related mods that need Automatron

A few mods randomly require other DLCs, especially Far Harbor and Nuka-World. Far Harbor is by far (har) one of the most required DLC for mods that I've seen.

Nah, it's taking Three-Card Bounty quest and making it ten times longer. NVB2 is about introducing a new, nonlinear narrative and style to said bounty-hunting, allowing the fleshing out of said targets. NVB3 is about tying all the plot sticks into one (actual) faggot.

I agree, but NVB1 feels a bit... forced. You get a popup and a quest right off the bat, and of course it starts in Goodsprings, and the office is in the low-level area. Would be much better if you just got the shack as a map marker, and the actual quest only starts when you join (much like how DEIMOS only starts when you go in the place). And, you have to truck it back to the shack to get the next part.

NVB2 also has a popup and quest, but the setting and reason are better (NCR sponsored due to resource limitation, near the main NCR areas in the Mojave), as opposed to NVB1's (random company, near Primm because...?). Also, you no longer have the focus on the main place: the bounty posters are everywhere, and can be done in any order. Very lenient, and natural, and, well, fun.

I am not sure, but what you should be using them for is placing them around corners so that when enemies try to chase you they lose their legs and are easy pickings. This is really useful against sentry bots, Protectrons, Glowing ones, things that wear power armor, some synths, and wasteland baddies (Yao Guai, Radscorpions, mirelurks, Deathclaws with limited effect)

I use this perk mod to help fix some of these issues. You can decide for yourself if it would be a good fit. It gives automatic weapons a chance at ammo refund if you invest in perks.

make sure to grab The Problem Solver or Splattercannon from Nuka-World. they both have the furious effect and make the automatic variant amazing.

Good uniques seems like a just reward for a hard target, but I agree. They are, at the very least, overpowered for the level you get them at.

Also a genuine flaw, but thats more the game engine's fault than his. You honestly can't make good boss battles in 3/NV, it's either way too hard and spongey, or too easy for a boss.

I never really got this feel in my experience. If anything, he tries harder to be immersive than most other mods. The real-world references are more easter
eggs than anything else (except his worship of AlChestbreach, thats just tacky).

I tried playing the mode a long time ago with a power armor character and the two times I died that were not from molotovs were from a synth firing at an explosive carnister near me and a mutant shooting at a mine that I was standing next to (I set it up earlier to protect my retreat route in case they start rushing me and I was just walking near it) so I'm worried the AI on survival is programmed to go after such opportunistic targets.

I installed a mod that should lessen the penalty for full-auto upgrades, hopefully it will work.

ncr boss fight was good because of the traps the corridors and the suprise attackat the end
lanius was a bullshit fight. but fits the big mean lanius that u always talk about. he doesnt use any ranged weapons so thats a huge thing to make the fight balanced. maybe nerfing the move speed a bit would make it better. i liked how he has to call legion soldiers to sacrifuce themselves to the courier while he is healing up.
ulysses has a good concept but making him have 10 special points on everything is stupid. once u kill the healing eye bot it shouldnt take a couple of shots to kill him. unless u can come up with some rad perk that increases dr or dt. i liked the divide soldiers attacking you and the eyebots u had to destroy.
ncr boss fight is god tier
the other two fights could use some balance but are still fun concepts.
SG2K straight up made bosses nearly invisible and have ultrahigh damage so that anyone with a balance patch is FUBAR.
he was lazy when it came making boss fights exiting

NB3 boss fight would have been fun if it was an actual cowboy showdown. it could have been like first person to get shot 3 times wins. or some other cowvoy gimmick since he was into it so much. i understand modding quests is such a hassle but it seems he just wanted to get over it by making a lazy boss fight. still props to him for adding 1 hour of content.

I think these merchant shops got broken during the big battle. The merchants themselves still buy and sell but they dont stay at their place and just wander around.

The only thing I could think was disable/enable on the shops and all that seemed to do was turn off the shop altogether and just make it into a normal countertop.

Alright, makes sense. I agree with you on everything except Ulysses: he was bullet spongey as hell, even without the eyebots, but I would argue that this boss battle is more focused on the narrative of this being the true final ending to NV.

I remember, in NVB2, how I had a helluva time trying to capture the Great Khan guy at Lone Wolf Radio. I always did too much damage and would kill him, or get killed by his thousand powder gangers and ALL THE GODDAMN DYNAMITE. KotR was really bad: the opponents would literally have their health refilled when they should've died/KOed.

I propose that it's railroading on the part of SG2K, into taking the peaceful & diplomatic path. Unfortunately, he does the same for all of his mods, including the ones without peaceful options, so I doubt it. Still, a possibility.

NVB2 had some bullshit bounties but at least the integration was good. I am still salty about the red bear bullshit damage and HP as well as Marko's. Great way to end the mods(not). I think the modder made all the important people regenerate health. It would have been understandable if they had explained that they had that implant. but even with the implant it shouldnt be regenerating that fast. like i said lazy boss battles.

One cap used to be worth one twentieth of a regular bottle of water, based out of the Hub by the Water Merchants. As civilization advanced, the NCR instituted a coin economy, made of and based on gold. Then, the BoS dirty bombed the entire NCR gold supply, causing them to replace coins with paper money, which wasn't worth much, leading to the reintroduction of bottlecaps by merchant companies.

The East Coast has not had this history: if they even have an economy and not a simple barter system, then it would probably use Pre-War money, or perhaps actual gold in certain places. There's literally no reason, besides nostalgia, for them to use caps.

Zimmer, from The Inheritence, was explained at having a shitton of implants. It has never been said or implied Red Bear and Marko possess, or even can afford implants. I think SG2K just wanted tough bosses, without an idea of how tough is too tough, or what makes bosses good. Perhaps he was afraid of bosses that were too easy, so he figured too hard is better.

Regardless, the gameplay has never been his strong suit. It's the writing, that made me fall in love with his mods. That, and his sweet accented voice.

Why wouldn't it be? The east coast because of various factors is less developed than the west coast, so there is less reason for some group to form a new currency. Closest is maybe some water certificates via Project Purity, but the Brotherhood of Steel doesn't seem to give two shits about economic development in the wasteland, so their authority wouldn't actively work to back such a currency.

I think that was smart, since the NCR's strength was in it's economy, and also it was good from a gameworld-design aspect, as far as resetting the development of the gameworld (something that seems to be a key feature in FNV -- Bethesda's East Coast doesn't need it as much because for various reasons they aren't developed like California became). Fallout is a series based on scraping together the ruins of civilization after it destroyed itself (or rejecting old civilization and finding a new paradigm). Not too mention the culture pre-war in Fallout isn't that suited for cyberpunk, as nationalism is much more important; the closest cyberpunk aspects would be how prominent a few large companies are, like RobCo and Vault-Tec.

200 years to rebuild society, even with robots, isn't even close to set up a cyberpunk environment. You need mass media networks, routine travel and commerce across regions, and a advanced economy. While Fallout has some of these things in the small-scale, there is nothing that could establish that in the near future.

I like cyberpunk too, original Syndicate is up there in my top 3 video games, and Shadowrun was the only PnP game I was interested in; but it's not a viable or cohesive concept for the Fallout universe.

Not exactly what you want, but there is a setting to reduce the line of sight distance from the NPCS. and you can even change their cone of vision. Makes flanking more rewarding and fun. I wouldnt use the damage part of it though.

It depends on what parts of NV you liked and disliked I guess. If you want an RPG where you can choose how to solve problems, then no, very little of 4 has a solution other than "shoot until the things attacking you are dead". If you didn't like NV's combat, or if the desert really isn't your thing, then yeah, maybe.

Personally I don't care for 4, and I'm waiting on both the script extender and the new NMM before I try to get it working again. It's weird that I didn't like it because the settlement system should have gotten me hooked based on autism alone.

Waifu yes. Build diversity, no, not really. There are some interesting perks that make builds different, but there aren't really more. Weapon customization, yes, but there are fewer weapons to customize, and only one. Quests, not really, most are "go to area and kill all the enemies". Each faction also has radiant quests that give you a random location to go to and retrieve an item, or kill all the enemies there.

The one thing 4 has going for it is mod framework, specifically framework that got made early on. BodySlide is the biggest one, fixes everything wrong with body replacers that NV had. For all the Type3 bodies, you've got a single set of vanilla armor replacements, and any difference between the bodies you chose have no affect. With BodySlide you make any shape body you want, then you take an armor that has a slider set and you run the program to fit it to the body. If an armor mod doesn't use the system, there's a patch for it for sure.

It isn't too bad, I'm pretty sure my original run was vanilla, possibly with the unofficial patch. Most of the good mods boil down to utilities and adding variety. You've got your LooksMenu, BodySlide, and Crafting Workbenches, and the variety is just pick and choose for armor and weapons.

What's a good load order to make FOOK, PN, WMX and EVE work just fine without any problem?

I have this issue where a bunch of weapons couldn't be modded (like the .223 pistol and the Marksm... I mean the HK) and I also had redundant mods and weapons (both .223 pistols and 5.56 pistols).

I tried dicking around with the load order but now WMX just apparently doesn't work at all and I probably fucked my savefile.

Also .50 MG explosive doesn't show up anywhere anymore for some reason which is a shame.

Generally you'd want to load WeaponModsExpanded.esp after all the plugins that provide new/edited weapons and "rebalance" mods that dick around with leveled lists and item lists, and then the compatibility patches after that.

The mod page for WMX even says to load the ESPs near the bottom of your load order.

As far as I know, very few games put much attention on shotguns, and if there's the option for pump, they'll always use it because pump-action looks cooler. I think BF4 actually had a semi-auto SPAS 12, but that's pretty rare. It's up there alongside the 'shotguns are only good at close range' meme that developers push a lot as far as bothersome.

YUP fixes bugs and literally nothing else, so you don't need a dozen compatibility patches. You'll still probably end up needing one or two depending on your mods. With PN I'd honestly just not use PN, so I guess saying that the rebalance module is shit because you need at least part of the rest of the mod, so if you're using it only for rebalance, it's way too complicated and uses too many plugins for it to be worth it. Same reason why FOOK is shit if you're using it for bug fixes, because it does a ton of other stupid shit.

Well, good for you. I just tried the .ini part of it and performance is slightly better. I usually get 60s when I'm not in town (like in the middle of Goodsprings, then it's ~40ish), then again I'm running almost 120 plugins and several texture mods.

Chill the fuck out. If you don't see shit in the game, it doesn't fucking matter what nvac says. ENBs aren't even run in the same .exe as the game, I'm almost completely sure that NVAC literally cannot see anything an ENB does. ENBs don't actually touch the game. It's post-processing. It's like freaking out and uninstalling the game because of a dead pixel on your screen.
