This, I was looking a hair mods then looked at the Oblivion nexus and I don't think there's a single mod that wasn't ported from those, even if we're talking about the ones on 4's nexus. If a mod involves a mesh, doesn't look like complete shit and wasn't obviously nifskoped, it was probably ported from a TES game's mod. The result is of course that we don't get any of the good looking armors because they don't fit thematically. Even less so than the generic slutty armor ports.

I have long load times when going from an interior location to an exterior location only, and under specific enough conditions that it has to be a bug. Also on an SSD. Load times are 60-90 seconds and repeatable under the right conditions:

If I fast travel to an exterior location, even from within an interior location like the railroad, it loads instantly.
If I load a game already outside, it loads instantly.
If I load a game inside and go outside, it loads instantly.

Only when I have already been outside, go inside, then return outside do I get the long load time, but it always occurs in this case.

Disabling autosaves doesn't help, nor does keeping the number of save files at a minimum.

There is also the fact that Bethesda did all the major mods from Fo3/NV as offical game content, meaning modders have far less "big stuff" to do

-Settlement building is Feng Shui, Real Time Settler, Settlement Defense, Settlement Raiding, and all home base mods rolled into one

-Power Armor got a massive upgrade, its own UI, and many in-game modifications, making PA mods dead

-Companions now interact and make comments on basically everything you do, taking their connection to the rest of the game much further then even modded companions did.

-Weapon modding is on a scale far greater then even mods like WMX

-Fallout 4 has more base creatures, and more creature variants, then any past Fallout game, making "new creature" mods less of a priority

-Automatron did RobCo certified, and took it to 11

-The workshop DLC added a shit ton of Fo3/NV mods, as well as features people said were missing from the settlement system and had made mods for Fallout 4 to add, killing all those mods from Fo3/NV/4.

Cement buildings, traps, arenas, craftable weapons/armor/ammo/clothing/food, decontamination arches, new high yield power sources, a terminal to track companions/settler job assignments, SPECIAL boosting items, new items that greatly enhance settlement happiness levels, clean versions of many settlement items, and more, which killed all settlement mods beyond "ADD MOAR ITEMS!" mods.

Honestly, Bethesda left very little for modders to actually do for Fallout 4 besides nudes and lewds, and the typical "more weapons/armors" mods, as well as the infrequent good quest mod

Damage resistance returns in Fallout 4. However, the stat is no longer a 1-1 relationship with actual % damage reduced, as its value can be in excess of 1000 on certain models of power armor.

Instead, the amount of damage reduction the player character gets out of the damage resistance is actually based on how much potential weapon damage is coming in; unlike previous games, net damage reduction is based on a ratio between the potential weapon damage done and the damage resistance, with diminishing returns for high damage resistance.

The amount of damage reduced by damage resistance climbs very quickly until damage resistance is about half of the potential weapon damage, after which diminishing returns means you get less and less damage reduction per point of damage resistance. Notably, if damage resistance is exactly equal to the potential weapon damage done, then exactly half of the damage is negated. In other words, if you have 50 ballistic damage resistance and are shot by an enemy doing 50 ballistic damage, then you'll receive 25 damage.

Note that the most important factor is the ratio between damage resistance and potential weapon damage:

The upshot is that unlike previous games, it is very hard to get to the point where enemy damage is reduced to the range of ~20% or less. In addition, because the ratio between damage resistance and weapon damage is so important and because damage reduction grows very quickly at first for low values of the ratio, a higher damage resistance pays off mostly because it gives you better damage reduction against more-damaging attacks, not necessarily because it gives you better damage reduction against the same, weaker attack as before.

In other words, going from 20 to 40 damage resistance will only further reduce the damage done from a 10-damage shot by about ~12% (~61% to ~69% damage reduction), but it will dramatically boost your damage reduction against a 100-damage grenade by about 23% (~10% to ~30% damage reduction). However, significant mitigation against such high damage is harder to achieve, since it is harder to get enough damage resistance to generate an appreciably high resistance-to-damage ratio. In otherwords, getting a 5-1 ratio is easy against a 20 damage shot, but very difficult (essentially limited to power armor) against a 100 damage grenade.

so what i was thinking was

if there is some script that recognizes weapons slots from 1 to 10 and gets the fun
silently add premade item representing that weapon.

For example, i want to equip 1 rifle, 1 katana, and one pistol. So if i put them in the respective weapon slots, it would check the pistol and put a dummy pistol in the holstered area, a dummy rifle and a dummy katana in premade holster armors.
and when the button of such weapon is pressed, the dummy becomes invisible when the weapon is selected, while the other dummies remain.

This will looks seamless because the script would be constantly checking which weapon is equiped and which ones arent so it can place the dummies.

This will only work for 1 rifle, one melee, and one pistol.
Would have to rethink the whole thing if i wanted to work with more difficult combinations.

I'm doing the quest to repair the pump at thicket excavations on a challenge character. I did it once and got a legendary enemy, and then died stupidly before I could retrieve it, so I loaded my save and tried again. This time, no legendary. Is it necessary to talk to Sully before hitting the pump switch to get the legendary, or is the chance just that low?

I know when some quests pop enemies up, there's increased legendary chance compared to normal, or at least I think that's true. lemme know if I'm wrong. I just want to know if certain objectives have to be ticked off first.

Jsawyer, EVE, the standard stability set, and a working brain to build your own conflic resolution patch because HOLY SHIT are there a lot of conflicts. Even with the Lutana/JIP scripting done by Jsawyer Ultimate, there is a fuckton of conflicts to patch together that not even Bash can patch.

But it is worth it. Got myself a courier running full laser infiltrator - stealth suit, Hyperbreeder, Murdelizer and a knoife. Jsawyer-style tweaks make it feel gud to go into a place, shiv a few guards, then suddenly pop up and laserface the rest.

Skillchecks are a pain in the dick, especially if you have to reload your save, just to see the requirements for each option and be able to make an informed decision. I personally like FO4's dialogue system better. But I think things like karma should have stayed. Also the options should have been written better instead of yes,explain,no,sarcastic.

Before you get all upset, when I say I like the dialogue system better I mean it very loosely. In the fact that you can walk away and make a decision at another time. That was something fo3 and nv lacked. Because once you talked to somebody you were locked in.

Really? I just figured out what I needed to uncheck from each list, and I'm down to all of three weapons that aren't getting the right effect and sound applied, one small clutter item that isn't being marked as "deleted", and that's about it. For the weapons specifically I've got:

More Perks has a few perks that enhance mobster-style-friendly outfits and weapons. Notably, there's one that boosts pre-war outfits (like suits), and one that lets you turn pre-war outfits into POWER ARMOR. There's a few more perks in there that also help. Hell, I've got basically all the mods you've listed and more, and even with careful bashing I still find a custom conflict resolution patch AND custom tweak patch are needed to make sure load order shenanigans don't make weird textures or sound issues crop up.

Thankfully, said custom patches are, themselves, also mergeable into the Bashed Patch. It's a little bit of extra work, but as others have noted in other threads, the feeling when those reddish-orange highlights turn green is surprisingly soothing.

Behind his high luck, he's still a capable super spy, so his Endurance, Agility, and Charisma are his highest stats. He's not extraordinarily strong, so his Strength and Perception are above 1, but moderately low. It's Archer, so his Intelligence is the lowest of his stats.

As far as his faction, probably could be bribed by the Institute into replacing Kellogg's role, given that's the only place that could sate his vices. Though why they would need another Kellogg is questionable besides Archer's dumb luck causing him to screw up their plans at every turn.

Why do I even come here?

Karma is one of the nessecary things that this game sorely lacked to be called an RPG. There isn't even a town system, if you shoot everyone in diamond city dead, you can come back 4 days later and random settlers will be there and not shoot you.

There's no town or settlement based karma. What's even worse is there are only 4 towns/cities(5 if you count fah habbah and 6 if you count Nuka World)...

Karma and reputation being separate is something needed for a roleplaying game. Both are needed for proper characterization.

Reputation lets you know how others view you. Are you the town's peacekeeper? Murderer? Do they even know you exist? That can be told through reputation.

Karma, on the other hand, details less how the world views your actions, but how your character views themself. That sound heard when stealing something, or helping out? That's not the heavens approving/hating your actions, that's your character's conscience...and not all consciences are aligned with 'good.' So while the two sounds - good and evil - symbolize to the player increase or decrease in karma, to the character, it's more a feeling of whether what they're doing is in line with their own personal alignment. A sort of feeling of 'rightness,' like a murderer feeling good about killing, rather than helping someone, for instance.

There's a reason the 'lawful vs. chaotic' thing exists alongside the 'good vs. evil' in classic rpg systems; it allows the player to decide whether or not a certain action would fall in line with their character's, well, character. Having only one scale (reputation) makes things as one-dimensional as viewing 'karma' as a judgement from the heavens.

Not him, but reputation was just as bad as Karma was, for many of the same reason as Karma was.

This is exemplified in games like New Vegas, where the reputation system actually made NPCs act less believably then in games without such systems.

The biggest problem comes from reputation systems working on the premise of offering blanketing +/- reputation bonuses for generic actions, which only results in problems like

1. NPCs knowing you did shit like killing a squad of their soldiers despite the fact you did so in the middle or nowhere, with no one around to see you do it, and with no one left alive to report it.

2. Making all NPCs in a giving faction act exactly the same way in regards to something you did. Solve the NCR/Kings problem by killing all the Kings? Hsu, a guy who is all about doing the EXACT opposite of that likes you more because +NCR Rep!

3. Because everyone automatically knows what you did, and who you did it for, its impossible to play double agent, by seemingly working for one faction, while in reality you are actually working for another. Caesar autoamtically knowing literally every shit you took, despite him having no reason too, makes it impossible to sabotage his efforts from the inside.

Fallout 4, which uses a scripted trigger system(like most every other game) instead of a blanketing reputation system, avoids all these problems.

And the scripted triggers limits NPCs reactions to thing you did to only things they have reason to know you did.

Reputation systems are fundamentally flawed. They were in Morrowind, and Bethesda ditched them after Morrowind for those reasons, and then when Obsidian tried to bring them back in NV, all it did was resurrect those same old problems.

That's not the point - Karma as a scale of good and evil, that is most certainly stupid. But as a way of judging how in-line your character is with the norm of other characters, it's a useful tool. You might not view theft as evil, but the vast majority consider it as at least highly rude. Frankly, it's almost a neutral action, and really should have barely any karmic impact (sadly the F3 legacy system rather hinders proper implementation), whereas running around jamming screwdrivers into people's spines could count as some serious bad karma.

Also I did specifically say that having reputation is good, but having them automatically know when you do something isn't. If you take away that stupidity, karma is still stupid because it's not anything tangible judging the player's actions, it's the game itself. "Faction karma" makes sense, as it makes sense that a faction would judge you based on actions that have helped or hurt them, but that's literally the faction rep system.

Killing BoS will only get you in trouble if you do so in front of, or around, a named BoS NPC, who are only in BoS bases, where its probable that someone could escape and report your ass, or report you ass back to BoS command before you finish killing everyone.

Institute weapons should be weaker then normal lasers.

As many in The Institute point out, they have very tight resources(hence why they have all those synth salvage teams on the surface)

The Institute would need to make a cheaply produced laser variant in order to adequately arm their synths despite their resource problems.

They also have no need for more powerful weapons since no one can actually reach them.

Alrighty, I'm going to post about this one last time before completely re-installing everything.

Yesterday, I changed the language of Fo4 in Steam. When I did this, my mods quit working, so I changed back to English. After doing so, my mods continued to not work, but it's not all of my mods.

It's not like the mods just aren't loading in the game, it's like they're broken even after reinstalling the mod.

For example, Singing Settlers is broken even after trying to reinstall it. The mod is still active, most of the mod works, but things like carpets 'n such that the mod adds are no longer there. The ability to select them in the settlement menu is there, but you can't actually place anything.

CBBE is broken too. The body won't change, the textures don't show up, it's just all vanilla. My hair mods have messed up too, but again, it's only select parts of the mod. Only SOME hairs don't work. The option to select them is there, but my character is just bald when I select them.

But then, it seems, many other mods still work perfectly fine. I've got weapon mods and such that still work fine. So it's like this weird thing where only SOME parts of the mods quit working, but the mod is still active, loaded in the game, and parts of the mods still work.

And reinstalling the mods doesn't fix them. I've tried fiddling with the plugins.txt files and such, I've veriified the game cache, I've tried all I can think to try. It's jusy like the mod files just broke but I have no idea what could've doen that from simply changing the language.

Please help, I REALLY don't want to have to reinstall 100+ mods and the base game.

I think they are generallly comparable to firearms in FO3 and NV atleast; haven't played enough FO4 to make the comparison. Especially with a Crit build, laser weapons can be brutal ash-pile creating machine. And plasma rifles always pack a punch.

I know how you feel bro, I travelled with him for the duration of nuka world with the intention of killing the gangs at the end but then gage grew on me and it was hard to say goodbye, even harder to have to kill him as I went to liberate my settlements.
I built a funeral pyre at nuka world petrol station in his memory and I will leave the settlement undeveloped.

I beg to differ. It's hardly even an original model. It's practically a Vanilla laser rifle receiver with a sniper barrel attached to it. The few original textures, for example those of the custom stock, don't even come close to Vanilla-quality, and the wires/tubes barely have any texture at all, and consist of estimated 4 polygons in total.
The only thing that came out rather well is the scope.
bOMKHA's is a fully custom-made model, sticking way closer to the original.

The reason for this is because, in a medium like videogames, story and gameplay are actually tied together a lot more closely than people think.Final Fantasy XII could have an absolutely amazing story, but I'm not going to endure having to trundle down a literal fucking hallway for 40 hours before I get to see any of it.

Every decision the writers make creates more work that has to be done by coders, essentially. Work that takes time and effort to do, which when you're an enormous company with massive bills to pay is something you want to limit as much as possible.

It's also a lot easier to say 'We have a grand and sweeping story!' and hope that none of the mainstream audience looks too far into it to find all the massive, MASSIVE holes in it (as with fallout 4) and then spend that time and money on making shiny things and cool setpieces to throw in the trailer and distract people from said massive, massive holes.

The Legacy of Kain games have an amazingly byzantine storyline involving time travel, paradox as a storyline mechanic, themes like predestination versus freedom, betrayal, redemption and the inevitability of death.
It also has, in one single game, 27 entirely separate block-pushing puzzles.

tl;dr most people don't care about a good story, they only care about what game journalists tell them has a good story. If they didn't, Fallout 4 would have left Bethesda a smoking ruin in a crater the size of Manhattan.

That's an overclocked Plasma caster receiver

I'm going to balance this as so:

Regular receiver - Slow firing and hard hitting
Hotwired (Turbo) receiver - Faster rate of fire, inaccurate
Overclocked - Twice as fast as hotwired's firing speed, wildly inaccurate, like accelerated minigun tier

Each bolt fired will have a small amount of splash damage.

Also as for barrels, the prong barrels will increase the accuracy a ton, an Overclocked + prong receiver will be optimal for accuracy and lethality, but you can mix and match to make crazy shit. One barrel will be scatter, one will be a cannon that fires huge exploding balls and changes ammo type, a non-shitty flamer, etc

That prong barrel is actually a fancy microphone stand with Grognak Axe blades shaped and formed into prongs, meticulously so in 3ds. I ain't even given it proper textures yet other than what it uses for the default.

Crafting lots and lots and lots of jet and jet fuel, vegetable starches, and whatever else I could get my hands on. Settlement dickery too.

I built a factory for Nuka Cola and went up 2 levels just building all the robots and building shit. Also Gunner farm. The first Wasteland workshop DLC lets you build cages that capture creatures / raiders / gunners

Gunners only require caps for bait. Once inside they're trapped inside until you let them out. Now of course your suspension of disbelief might be fucked with if they all fall for this dozens of times but basically build dozens of these (you will need a lot of caps, like 10,000 or 20,000 maybe), and link them all to a switch that opens them.

Then either kill them with your weapons or let captured deathclaws destroy them, and take all their armor and guns. With manufacturing extended I went a step further and put all their corpses on conveyorbelts that took them into a human butcher machine that gives human meat and bone, and another machine lets me turn the human meat into precious fertilizer...waste not, want not?

After a series of crafting and refining, I basically turn entire dead Gunner bodies into oil

So I figured out a fix, but it was too late.

I had already uninstalled all of my mods and was attempting to reinstall them when i thought of something.

I simply went into the same directory you'd find your plugins.txt, deleted that whole Fallout4 folder and started a new game up to right after character creation to replace the folder and that fixed it.

Such a simple fuckin', right in front of my face fix and it was the last thing I thought to try.

So the problem is fixed, that's how 'ya do it for future reference, but I still gotta reinstall all my mods.

It's a shame, because it's actually a really intuitive armor system but then they had to fucking ruin it by having weapon damage be so variable. Automatic weapons shouldn't do less than half the damage of single-fire ones, it's fucking dumb and makes them useless.
