it's not team compatibility moreso than it is just general alignment, and then they have specific characters they like/don't like/are neutral to which determines if the character preceding the next one in line to fight will give the latter an extra bar or whatever bonus, though it only matters in advanced mode i guess (i never really played with that feature)

Im trying to go off of the game's story to see who might be a fit. SNK likes to mention a lot of their characters even when they're not in active roster and a lot of them often show up in endings.

Left could be Kasumi with her hair down sitting seiza style but Whip is always around in K and Ikari endings. Mary is pretty tight with the Fatal Fury crew and even when the game launched everyone thought it was weird that Ramon showed up with no Vanessa

Not a fan of the pachinko era, but I wouldn't automatically relegate all the pachisluts to trash. There's some potential in some of them. In-game wise Nakoruru brought them along while chasing after verse because she needed help. As farfetched as it seems Mui Mui can possibly play a role with the whole dragon spirit thing, since she's a dragon girl and has dragon powers, if SNK ever decides to revisit it. In other words what makes waifu X better than waifu Y? Then again this could be said of pretty much any non-main character in each game be it KoF or whatever with a few exceptions. I'm not saying she's trash either, and her coming back would be nice as fuck, but what does she have in-universe-wise over let's say Alice (who I'll admit was shoehorned in)? My main point being that's kind of a downside of SNK having such a huge cast of colorful characters, there's a ton and some of them can get pigeon-holed quite easily and not come back for along ass time. We all want characters back, but why not give new ones a chance too? ]

Does anyone have any experience with the Orochi saga collection for PS2?

I got it recently and played some 96 and 98 and I could not pull off special moves for the life of me with the DS2. I had some better luck with those old SF anniversary pads but it still felt pretty jank.

Just to double check to it wasn't my retarded hands I played the PS2 port of 98 UM and 2000 and wasn't having half as much trouble.

Not in the slightest, but in the chinese manga, it shows them drag racing with tuned up race cars on the streets. The image is very surreal to me considering that Kyo is not a graduate, not to mention a slacker so that guy wont be able to afford a car, much less to tune it and maintain it. Same with Iori for... well not because of his band stint income but more of the lack of any background regarding his family and their income.
The only sacred treasure holder able to afford any car in the first place is Chizuru and she's a high ranking office lady that has hosted the KoF tournament one time while demosntrating how much she is stuck in 80's/90's aesthetics with her shoulder pads.
