It seems that XIV SNK has tried to be somewhat accurate to the height proportions somewhat. If we consider the characters' heights and try to factor them into the silhouette Rock being the one in the middle doesn't quite click, he'd be a bit too tall to be the figure people think is him. Vanessa is is kinda tall too, but if it's her hunched over in a stance she could still fit in where people think she does, just not as the person in the back.

Ok, then if we go by that then how would sprites benefit them? It's not like they can pull money out of their ass. The chinks didn't give them shit nor will they otherwise we wouldn't have gotten XIV the way we did. Even Oda mentioned their budget was low. Sprites would doom them even more especially if they're XIII levels of detail or higher. What do you suggest? Cell shading? That never really meshed with KoF's artstyle they'd have used flatter colors back in the day plus even Arcsys mentioned that it was hard as fuck for them to nail. Also it's not like they can go back to the fucking neo geo sprites. It wouldn't mesh at all and today's consumers wouldn't see it fit for anything past mobile. Hell even when XII and XIII were announced there were people shitting on those sprites saying that it looked like a snes game. As supportive as they've been SNK is a business and needs to stay afloat. What other options did they have besides being relegated to mobile games and pachinko? Pachinko is now out of the question since that part of the company has been shut down.
