Honestly speaking, any game that requires you to kill off another character to get the ending for a character immediately loses points for me. I tried playing Fire Emblem Dark dragon but almost immediately quit when I had to choose a character to die to save the prince. Unlike that game, however, I did manage to beat at least one route of Daibanchou. The vast majority of the character events in the game felt completely random, none of them really felt like they gave a better understanding of the universe they were living in.

Yeah, having to deal with either Kunagi's or Senna's death is pretty low blow, especially with the way they handled Kunagi's death in Senna's route, it was just too sudden, and poorly handled, Rouga's childhood friend and fiance dying out of the blue like that, just so that the plot can progress? Ah come on..

At least you can do a SpoilerAL playthrough of the game to keep them both alive, which is pretty fun in of itself, as you can play both of the fun parts of their routes at the same time.

They basically formed an alliance because they were all anti-communist, but also in order to challenge the post-great war world order led by the former Entente (Britain, France, partially the US).

Basically they all had interests and none of them really conflicted (except Austria which was resolved). So they became allies.

The war began when Germany declared war on Poland after Poland refused to concede to Germany's demands for Danzig, etc. Britain and France, seeking to contain German expansion, had already guaranteed Poland's independence and safety, so when Germany declared war on Poland, Britain/France declared war on Germany. Best seller ever for MG is probably Imopara. Rance sold a lot in its first few months and will likely exceed what BBH sold soon enough. Main reason why Rance hasn't stayed on the top 5 chart as long as BBH is because of MG releasing more third party titles recently, though. An interesting tidbit is that for its first few months, it made up a larger portion of total sales than usual for a recently released title on MG. Well, in any case, it's on the chart right now, so I'd expect it to appear on the chart sporadically for the next few years, much like MG's long nukige titles in general and Huniepop.

Overtaking Imopara with Rance VI will take a while, and that'll be mostly because of sales of future Rance games causing an uptick in the sales of the prequels.

Where does Rance come from? Does he have any family? Why is he so blessed (in canon, not the fact that he's the MC)? Why does Sill love a man that abuses her?

Any interesting lore tidbits, like about the gods or anything? Or is the lore not that deep?

Unlike most of the other games which are just spamming attacks until the enemy's health bar reaches zero, 01 has a lot more skill involved in careful timing of your moves, because of how the cooldown system works with the enemy's attack/defense patterns. This means if you're not particularly skilled with these kind of games you'll have a fair bit of difficulty clearing it.
