Depends on the class you are playing, some have special tools that help them, but in general the one that works for all classes, but provides no punishment for the warden, is just rolling out of the way.

If you want to play the guessing game you can throw ou a light and hope he goes for a GB, punishing him, or dodge to the side first and then throw a light, hoping he goes for a light attack instead of GB, which allows you to get some damage in as well. Its just a mixup, there are plenty of them in the game, this one is just the one the community talks the most about.

I think it was a heavy at the start, overhead heavy but apart from that those were all avoidable I think. A lot of people can't counter guard break for shit in this game though. I fought some rep 6 peacekeeper that didn't know how to tech, admitted himself that "there is no use in learning how to tech" and you can just slap the shit out of people with heavies because they are bad. People often try to grab you back when they see you gb'ing them so much so it actually forced me to learn how to counter guard break and I'm pretty good at it now, I'd say I tech around 80% of all gb's
