It's actually pretty terrible. I came in really wanting to like this, and I was about to buy it on day 1, but I thought better of it and watched a stream instead.

The writing is atrocious. I don't know who this game was meant for, because it seemed like a pretty relatable story of disaffected youth, but man the dialogue just completely tears it for me. It's repetitive, none of the characters have a distinct voice, none of the characters are funny but make constant painful attempts at humor.

I admire the artistry that went into the visuals, but god, the content here is just... awful.

Yeah it all looks great, but I have a few concerns.

Mostly the fact that all of those are really big additions that can easily mess up the base game balance and design. The shotgun special ability is basically the rapid fire feat. That makes the feat a whole lot less useful when you can achieve the same thing without wasting the feat.

Seems like they will have to tweak the base game a lot.

I said multiple times that I'm afraid there is no niche for shotguns to cover and it's just like I expected, they are very simliar to assault rifles in how they work. I hope there will be more ammo types to make the stand out a little more.

Night in the Woods is hitting close to home for me. A lot of the themes about returning to your home town, living in a small town, responsibility, and families growing older is stuff I really resonate with

It's fast action. Basically your character can capture and combine powers to make new ones, then use them to destroy several robots. I like it because you feel powerful making those weapons combinations (Force + Plasma + Explosive is my favorite).

Plus the dev is also updating, it has different modes of playing and a lot of content. I already played 12 hours of it and I still haven't saw everything.

I don't really know if it's beloved (I am usually the ones who post about it on /indie/, but didn't see much interest), I just think it's kinda an underrated game (even through from what I heard in another thread it was originally a free game like OneShot).

If interested, I would suggest you to give it a try on Steam then refund if you don't like it.

I think she was roughly the same age as Buddy, since Buzzo said Buddy reminded him of Lisa, and in his dream, Lisa and Buddy are about the same sized. They could be short due to lack malnourishment, but I like to think they were in their early teens. I think that's the most common age for kids to attempt to run away from their parents or rebel against them. Plus, I think Buzzo wouldn't have gotten so crazy attached to Lisa if he wasn't a teen.

Tight controls, fun plattforming, exploration, a reasonable boost spindash with a cooldown. I don't even mind the attacks instead of jumping on enemies.

Good game all around.

I found the control scheme very simple and intuitive (unlike DF, CDDA and some others) and I like the old ascii version because I play DF with the exact same font.

So far it seems to be one of the easiest proper roguelikes, I'm only on my second character. The first one made it to level 22 where I died to a cheap boss who permafroze me.

I bet some builds are much stronger than others.

I've only tried a couple of different dodge-specced chimera (aka melee) mutants and at least these seem pretty OP.

My current character is build around the idea of maxing gear slots from mutations. So yeah, I'm playing TWO-HEADED MUTANT here. Up to 8 attacks each turn, enough DV to be untouchable against most attacks and can phaseshift through walls - no need for keys and the only way it could die is freeze/stunlock.

Well then your mom has a pretty unique setting.

Most of the Qud world map is covered in lush jungle full of sentient plants, but there is almost no freshwater anywhere, only salt. To the west is an expanding salt desert and to the east is a radioactive wasteland. The jungles are littered with ancient overgrown ruins where you can find high-tech artifacts and guardian robots.

There are no civilizations to speak of, only a handful of isolated towns. The population is mostly mutated tribal humans/animals, but there are some high-tech factions as well. You play as a mutated human or pure human, the latter which apparently gets cybernetics later on in the game.

The setting is promising, but I don't know much of the plot yet. I'm currently stuck trying to find a way to regrown my tongue so I can speak to NPCs and continue the plot. If I had rolled esper mutant instead, I could try to get telepathy instead...

Half of the game is pass the joy mutant. The game is a couple of hours long.
A bunch of story and character development in the later part.
The trash quest is there to give you a Stat boost and will make you stop vomiting randomly. Plus when you turn it in you get a teleport to the final boss so whole you might miss stuff you won't have to waste time walking back

So if spears and machetes are added mainly for thematic reasons, does that mean they aren't really meant to be used as primary weapons? The main expansion content will become available around mid-game, and I can't imagine SGS and Junkyard vendors suddenly starting to carry primitive weapons for shits and giggles. I guess there could be an early pirate or whatever in the tunnels whose weapon you could take, but unless it's a unique its usefulness would still heavily depend on RNG, and unlike other melee weapons I doubt we'll be able to craft them at that point.

Also this just hit me, but if Azif was working for Six, and Azif knew he was handing the cube to a bunch of people who were known to be SGS merchants, how the fuck could Six not know Tanner was at SGS? Seems like the spear can be used for its buff only, but the machete clearly encourages you to stack the debuff.

It's not like you can get sniper rifles from the very start either (I mean, you can craft one early if you get extremaly lucky with the components, but the soonest I ever got it was after the psi bugs).

I think traders in Junkyard selling them would be fine since they do a lot of trade via boats.

Roguelites are what I usually go for when I need something to play in the background. Teleglitch and RoR especially. VNs/Walking Sims seems like an obvious pick but actually I think require too much focus-- plus cutting the music from them takes out like a third of the total experience, even if it isn't great.

Platformers work well too I think, Knytt Stories for something unstructured or You Have to Win the Game for a bit more challenge.

Yes and no, it gets more diverse as you colonize more parts of the map because some lands will provide bonuses that revolve around your play style.

Considering you can only play 3 out of the 5 clans at the moment, and there isn't the campaign mode yet, not too complex. But there is a interesting arrays of approaches and endgames it is definitely worth a try. Plus the creators have pretty much promised a lot more content coming out soon, as well as multiplayer.

Eh, I don't know. I'd totally do it if it'd actually help, but I don't know if it's such a bright idea. When the Copper Dreams KS was going this is basically what I did, I accepted a contract job with a 3 day deadline, and my payment went straight into the KS. But it was kind of okay, since KS was meant to give you a way to blow some money on a project without it having any potential negative effects.

If I did something similar for a non-KS game, what would happen? Depending on the price I'd end up with something like 30-80 keys. That's not much for sure, but it's still enough to present a dilemma. I have the keys, okay. And then what? Sitting on those keys is no good, because it would suggest interest in the game that doesn't actually exist. If I give them away, whose to say people will play it? And I can't give it to people who might buy it themselves, because that would do more damage than good. So I don't really know if this is a good idea at all.

Dammit anon, you know what I mean. It's an object, it's fine, then it takes damage and it's not. Isn't a gas tank basically destroyed if the gas it contains inside explodes? Destroyed, damaged, whatever. Point is, we don't really have this kind of thing in the game right now. There are turrets and cameras which are basically enemies, walls and rocks that are obstacles, and explosive barrels that deal damage. But you can't hit anything that doesn't serve some kind of purpose.

Exploding barrels stop being useful after early game. I don't think I ever got any benefit out of them after Junkyard, maybe except situations where I was throwing a grenade at a group of enemies next to a few barrels.

I'm pretty sure that if gas tanks with delayed explosions with significant damage were implemented, the AI's behavior would be to move out of its range if possible. And more often than not if you can keep them in one place for that long, chances are you could have just simply killed them.

Well, but if it's something like it explodes at the end of the combined turn when it was damaged, then it could be amazing.

I definetly would like something like this on sniper builds. Forcing enemies to waste an additional turn o two to take a lengthier route towards you would be well worth wasting one shot to set off the gas tank.

Yep, that could be pretty good, and not just to activate their flight response. For example if your turn comes last in the order, it would basically work like a barrel, except you can get close if necessary to set it off, and still have time to move out of range.

The one next to PC's room is quite big and has two bedrooms, so it's unlikely it belongs to ezra.

But the room under it also has electronic parts, but one desk always gives me two Psi boosters, and the other desk a Bear trap blueprint. Locked box has the electronic parts, the shelves have random shit like cloth, hypo, metal scraps, flares, mine frame, grenade, etc.

The big room is kinda random. The locker has random armor part. The desks have medical shit. One always has a single health hypo, the other a variety of stuff. Ampules, syringes, doctor's coat, capsules, etc. The left footlocker has combat stuff. Ammo, weapons, throwing nets, etc. The right footlocker always has one thing. Bolt trigger, boot string, shock bolt blueprint, etc.

I don't think we were meant to be able to figure out which room belongs to who.

Ok, this took way longer and was harder to make than I thought, I had to make a lot of hard decisions/compromises and I'm still not sure if all of them are right.

The general idea is to stack crit chance as high as possible and use the .44 revolver with explosive bullets. Overall, the build should end up with 78% (maaaaybe 80) chance to crit:
20% revolver
7% recklessness

11% steadfast aim (0.5% per every action point above 10, revolver costs 32 AP, so 22 above 10)

15% focus stim

10% 120 quality infused rathound leather (I wouldn't count on more as rathound leather go only up to about 50 and only if oyu get lucky, maybe you will be able to squeeze 1% more)

15% 120 quality seeker goggles (might be a lot higher if you get lucky with traders or in deep caverns, I would 2-3% more is possible)

It was really hard to have 6 STR for Steadfast Aim, 10 PER for sharpshooter/critical power (70% more crit damage is really big when 4 out of 5 attacks crit) and 14 DEX to drop the AP cost to 20 (so you can do 2 shots+point shot every turn, or rapid fire+2 regular shots, or 2 shots+taser, or Execute+one shot+reload, or 2 shots, etc. It's just optimal)

I had to drop CON and INT to 4 even though I wanted them both at 5 at the cost of PER. I also wanted to have natural 14 DEX, but unfortunately you will have to live with eating eel sandwiches ALL.THE.FUCKING.TIME (at least in the endgame)

You can always drop CON to 3 to get natural 14 DEX, or INT if you want to savescum with junkyard surprises. Your choice. You will also be able to enjoy your 20 AP cost from level 20 rather than 24, provided you eat the sandwiches al the time.

As for skills, you need 50 bio/chem to craft explosive bullets. You also need at least 30 mechanics. Word of advice- hoard low quality steel plates in early game. They are needed to craft bullets but their quality doesn't matter, so you are fine with using low quality plates, but they are harder to get late game.

Colton (Black Eels trader in Junkyard) sells low qulaity paltes even late in the game, but not many.

Electronics are needed to craft good nigh vision seeker goggles and shields. Tailoring for infused rathound leather and infused siphoner tabis. Don't worry about the mechanics requirement on super steel fiber, 150 quality fiber requires only 30.

45 traps means you will be able to set all Mk III traps and all bear traps. Given it's only 17 points due to high DEX, why not?

135/130 hacking/lockpicking is enough to open everything in the game.

Since we don't need mechanics and our health is low (only 4 CON and no infused pig leather since we need the crit chance from infused rat leather) I though why not go with dodge/evasion. I stopped at 135 because after that point you need like 9 points to start advancing the skill due to how synergy works, so it's perfect to stop. You should achieve like 200 with siphnoer tabis and nimble.

100 throwing is enough to hit where you want to hit even at long distances. 80 would be fine too. Gotta take advantage of high DEX.

As for feats, I also thought about taking Ambush, Power Management andEvasive Maneuvers over Aimed Shot, expertise and Paranoia, but ultimately decided to keep it as it is. Aimed Shot will make early/mid game a lot easier, expertise is still good even though we odn't get nearly as many shots as other builds and paranoia makes our already good initiative so good you will always act first.

I'm doing the task for Gorsky that involves stealing some shield emitters, but I have no stealth or persuasion whatsoever, and I'm siding with protectorate.

I dont think Austin explained it but for Bernard I think its just because he wasnt thought up yet but it could still be explained as they haven’t met or just weren’t able to meet. It’s not like she kills herself at the end of the First. For Brad I think it’s because he left home already. If you notice in Painful there are no scenes with Brad and Lisa being near each other other than when she was dead and the ending where Marty gives Brad a beer, and I don’t think Austin clarified what is happening in that scene. The fandom has concluded that in that scene Marty is forcing Brad to do something to Lisa but that scene is ambiguous and can be interpreted many different ways. We dont see Lisa in flashbacks when Brad is a little kid and he seems alone at home. She couldve been a baby in those scenes or living somewhere else with the mother before she died.

I think Brad left home abandoning Lisa with Marty as soon as he could, probably at 16, and lived with his friends like Rich or he went off to train in karate. This also likely contributed to him being a drug addict. The flashback to Lisa’s funeral doesn’t make it clear how old Marty or Buzzo was when she died but Buzzo mauls Dustin when Brad looks like he’s in his mid 20s with a massive beard, and Buzzo appears at least 10 years younger than Brad who is 35 when he dies. I don’t think Buzzo would have waited too many years after her death to do this. Also he was younger than Lisa enough she was his “superior”. Buzzo was also a student of Brad’s like Dustin so they might be close in age. I’d guess Dusty was 14-15 from his appearance and his father/son relationship with Brad. But I’d have to replay the game since I don’t remember the scenes with his face on so well.

From all this I figure theres a 5-7 year age gap between Lisa and Brad that would explain the absence of either sibling in either game.

I think Brad is much older than 35. He is about the same age as Cheeks, Rick, and Sticky, but they're all going bald (and grey in Cheek's case) by the time the Painful takes place. I think the "dead for 35 years" means he's been dead ever since Lisa killed herself.

How do you guys think Buzzo knew Lisa in the first place? The First showed that Marty kept Lisa cooped up in the house. Maybe he still let her go to school, or maybe he was a curious neighbor.

It's basically an if function, where the condition is whether the shop have eggs. If the return value is true, bring 6 bottle of milk, if not then 1. The sentence is ambiguous for a reason, note that there's no "AND" in it. It's not perfect but shows the logic well enough.

Forgot to mention: the promotion system otherwise simple and efficient. Sergeant adds 3 while Lieutenant 1 point to the player's Leadership. That determines the maximum value of Moral which not only prevent Mutiny, but half of it provides extra Critical Chance too.

You can only have 4 Sergeants (costs 600XP to promote) and 1 Lieutenant (1000XP), so logically the 4th is only available until you have a Liet. The trick is that those classes you want to upgrade to Veteran (due to their Abilities) first are NOT meant to be promoted further.

This is a little play with semantics and the specific (internal) logic of a profession. Any ordinary people would think the "bring 6" part refers to the eggs, yet if condition checks and logical operators are frequent in your daily job it's easy to interpret it totally differently.

The only purpose of this sentence is to illustrate this. Maybe you should look up the if function of any programming language in it's online manual, then try to insert the elements of that example into it. Hopefully it'll help you to understand the underlying logic better.

I don't think it's explained anywhere. But Biocorp are not retards, they probably knew what they were doing when putting together a fully underground society.

Most likely they found a way to do full spectrum lighting that exposes people to sufficiently intense UVB, or they simply use UVB lamps along with normal ones. Even if it's expensive as fuck, there is probably no other option but to swallow it. But this is only possible for the stations, smaller shitholes like Hathor or Junkyard wouldn't benefit from it.

Mushrooms is an option, but only if they've been exposed to UV radiation to increase vitamin D production. So pretty much another station-exclusive solution, even taking trade into account.

So where the fuck do zoners, lurkers, Junkyard folks get their vitamin D from? Who the fuck knows. Although deep sea fish are usually a good option, here it probably wouldn't be much help. While they don't get exposed to any UVB, it seems they can synthesize it with the blue light that can penetrate water deeper. But since we are underground there isn't even blue light, so I guess so much for that.

This means shit like osteoporosis and osteomalacia should be pretty common among non-stationers, and ironically this would make stationers just about the best source of vitamin D. Lurkers are onto something. And I guess indirectly anything feeding on stationer corpses that can also store the vitamin would do. So for example fishes, if corpses are regularly dumped in lakes or something.

But then, there's also pic related. Not a very good research, but the only empirical one I found on the subject. So according to this, even with low 25-OHD, heavy physical work can compensate enough that the bone mineral density won't actually suffer, meaning that miners who work underground during the day are not at a higher risk of developing osteoporosis than others.

SO I'm enjoying Aquaria, it's like a Metroidvania with a comfy, peaceful quality to it.

It kind of reminds me of some metroidvanias I played on yoyogames like 8 years ago, maybe some of you know what I'm talking about...

It's very basic, your character is little more than a stick figure. It starts where a shadowy creature traps you in a dream world and to escape you have to open a golden gate by finding the multi-colored collectibles. Pretty early on you can start flying, and in several places you gad to touch all the stars on the screen in a short amount of time. Also one of the abilities you get is teleportation. Does anyone remember it?

Maybe there is actually mushrooms/bacteria that produce light, but you just never notice them because they're on the ceiling of the caves (thus right between the 4th wall of you and the game map) which explains why you don't need a lamp to explore outside the caves.

Also, spoiler alert so you don't waste your XP: If you're going to side with the Aztecs, your Amazon will leave you eventually. If you side with the Totanics, your Champion will leave you. The exception is if you're playing a conquistador of the opposite gender and romanced them. I think there is another way to get them to not leave, but I've never figured it out.
